I drove an hour from work and then home to get my son to an appointment today at 4:30 pm in Potomac. I was stuck at the intersection out front when I got a call at 4:31 to ask if I was arriving. I said I just had to get through the light and we'd be there. I was told that, since 4:30 pm is the last appointment of the day and I was not there they'd have to re-schedule. I was admittedly annoyed. Fast forward, we arrived at the office at 4:34 and they confirmed he would not be seen. I had asked for his records when I was in the car if they were going to be that rigid...and they had his records ready. We won't be back. read more

We had an appointment for 9am today in Rockville. We arrived at the office a few minutes early and the door was locked. I called the office and nobody answered so I called one of their other locations. The first person I spoke to said she reached out to the people who should be there, they are on their way, there must be traffic... 10 minutes later I call again and this time I speak to someone who tells me "oh they don't start until 9:30 on Tuesdays." I have multiple confirmation/reminder texts including today at 5:55AM confirming my appointment on Tuesday at 9:00am. Finally the Rockville office calls me back and said "oh we changed our hours, I called you on August 19 (a month ago) to let you know." I explain we were overseas then so I didn't get the message, but nonetheless that was a month ago and they haven't contacted me since then to make sure I got the message? And funny enough when I looked back at the text messages I even got one exactly on August 19 that says "thank you for scheduling your appointment Sept 20 at 9am..." read more

So my daughter took my grandson to this place and it was just an awful experience. The main dentist here doesn't seem to care much about kids at all and is more concerned about making parents spend as much money as possible to cover their overhead. Now this is going to be a long one but very useful review for any one trying to find a good pediatric Dentist. You're going to want to read this one since we had a second opinion by a Top Dentist in the area that gave a completely different diagnosis. My grandson is an excellent patient. He holds still for the most part during cleanings and has been a regular at Potomac Pediatric Dentistry. Now the Dentist has never been kid friendly really but was tolerable and his support staff is really good. My grandson had an xray, Examination and teeth cleaning. He's 7 years old and has been going there since he was 4 years old about twice a year. Besides having to remove an mesioden, everything was always fine. This time however it was a completely unacceptable experience. After the cleaning when the Dentist came to check his teeth. He was in an extreme rush. He was talking really fast where it made it difficult to keep up.He got frustrated with my grandson for moving he was trying to take a look in his mouth and said. I need you to sit still, I'm very busy today and could be doing a lot of other things. After he was finished he started rambling off again very fast saying that my grandson had 5 cavities. That it would require 2 visits that would involve drilling and capping off one of them. My grandson started to panic and started crying and pretty much freaking out, out of fear. The Dentist just kept rambling on over him saying. Well based on the anxiety level sedation should be considered. He then said actually he has 7 cavities- it's 7 not five. This was all being said so rapidly. My daughter then told him - I don't think we should continue discussing this in front of my son. He then stopped and acted as like scheduling was going to be the next step. No time for questions??? On the way out a lady checks out my daughter and ask her about scheduling the services. My daughter told her she wasn't planning to ever return The lady very dismissively says "ok". She took my grandson to a Top Pediatric Dentist for a 2nd opinion. Boy am I happy she did! This Dentist said that my grandson had ONE cavity. This Dentist also recommended a special brand of toothpaste and mouthwash that helps with prevention of cavities in children among other helpful tips. Please be weary of any diagnosis you receive from Potomac Pediatric Dentistry. Especially if you have already spent a lot of money there like my daughter. They seem to hone in on parents like that more. read more

Everyone who works here is the nicest person ever! It is the friendliest office I've ever been in. My kids are so scared of the dentist and every since person inside this office (Mr. Eric, Miss Alyssa, and especially Miss Addie) is like a child whisperer. They know how to talk to little ones to make them feel not scared, welcome, and even happy/silly! God bless all of them; we will be coming here until they kick us out (age 18? 21?!) What a terrific experience! Superkids Pediatric Dentistry were so wonderful, patient and caring with my teenage, autistic daughter . This is really just a fantastic children's dental practice. The staff is terrific, caring and gentle and listens to your questions and is sympathetic to your needs. Dr. Liu is also just as fabulous and has a wonderful bedside manner. Today they all had fun T-shirts on, which makes it feel like a very relaxed atmosphere. In the waiting room, they have at least one iPad and a special little room where kids can play on it. WiFi as well. In each dental suite, they have a TV mounted on the ceiling where the kids can choose a show or a movie to watch while their procedures being done. Totally an awesome idea. Distraction...yay! We had to go today for THREE (!!!) tooth extractions... that were necessary to continue with her orthodontic plan. Dr. Liu gave us options of not doing them all on the same visit but why have another day/weekend of pain and soft foods? I was concerned about my 12-year-old daughter's pain level. So, we did the laughing gas in the bubblegum flavor (they have several to choose from, lol) and proceeded after a bit of numbing cream on her gums. Truthfully, I think this was the worst part of the entire procedure. The needles in the gums to insert the Novocain were pretty painful for her. I totally get it, having had it in my recent past. However, after the Novocain had set in, she was good to go. It took less than three minutes for him to extract all three teeth. The worst part afterword was the numbness in her face, LOL. I told her that you just really had to wait until it flushed out of your system and it might take a few hrs. 2 Advil and in an hour, she was outside videoing herself doing gymnastics stunts, like normal. She is thrilled to have a wknd to eat soft foods, ie : ice cream, Frappuccino's, applesauce, etc. Hahaha! This will be one of her only freebie weekends in that regard. Other things, such as regular cleanings....they have a text messaging reminder system for both routine scheduling & confirmation. I personally find this to be very efficient and helpful and it reminds me to set a reminder on my calendar so as not to forget that this is happening on such and such a day Payments. You are expected to at least pay your co-pay on the day of your visit. The office manager, or the finance person that I spoke with in the office today, required that before we proceeded at all. I do not hold the dental insurance in the family, my ex-husband does. So it took a little bit of hasty calling while there to be sure this happened smoothly. As long as you are aware of their policies, it is just like any other reputable practice. You can pay the entire billable amount, which they highly prefer - and a word of caution, they may not do delayed billing anymore. Delinquent accounts cause much stress on the practice, insurance companies, then legal fees if they have to retain attorneys to legally get the bill paid. Think ahead about this with any medical or dental appointment. It's more hassle for everyone...trust me. The last thing that I have to say about Superkids Pediatric Dentistry is that they have multiple locations. So, check with them or their website to see what location is open on a day that is convenient to you. They are very accommodating except if you cancel an appointment on the day of your appointment. If you are to cancel the day before, I have never had a problem. However there is an assessment fee of $25 if you cancel the day of. I have worked in the medical field for many years and it's just a courtesy to let your doctor, dentist, whomever, know that you're not able to attend your appointment in advance. They are reserving that time for you and other patients could be there instead if you are not able to make it. I'm sure that, in an emergency, there may be some leniency, but try to do your best because this is a really great practice and it would be a shame not to be able to continue with them if you become a patient there. I am super upset with both of the receptionists today. My appointment was at 11am, and i came 5 min earlier. I came to the first receptionist, without asking anything, she referred me to another receptionist at the back. I went to the second receptionist, she just asked my kid's first name, and asked to sit at the waiting room. While we waited, (for 30 minutes), 4 kids behind us got called first, one by one. I checked with the first receptionist, she just asked me to wait saying that they were running behind schedule (which is Not what happened), without checking Anything. So what happened was, the second receptionist didnt check our last name when she checked us in, and messed up my appointment with other kids who have the same First name. I am upset with how these 2 receptionists treated us with no respect at all. Just asked us to wait and wait, without checking and doing what they were supposed to do. Best pediatric dentist in the MoCo area. My son has been going to the practice for years and has gotten cavities filled, fluoride treatments and cleanings. Dr. Liu and his hygienists are top notch, as are the front desk staff. Free parking, easy to find location and a beautiful office are just extras to make these visits more convenient for parents/guardians. I wish they took adult patients! read more

Took my son here for his first-ever dentist appointment. All the office staff and medical personnel were great, making my son feel at ease. He was very happy and interested in what the doctor was doing- overall, a success. Dr. Liu was very professional and competent, answered my questions, and was truly great with my son. Wow I can't believe I'm saying taking my kids to the dentist was a GREAT experience!! I just switched from another practice in Bethesda after 12 years there for my 5 kids. I was unhappy there because they were forcing X-rays before the dentist or hygienist had seen them. Today was amazing- I had my 3 boys in for routine cleaning, they were quick to be seen, the hygienists and front staff super nice, it was clean and welcoming. Dr Liu is fantastic- great bedside manner, responsive, thorough yet fast. My 13 year old left saying,"That was actually really great!" Thank you, superkids- you took the stress out of what is normally a dreaded thing. read more

This place is absolutely horrible. They do a terrible job of cleaning and the staff are rude to patients. They only care about money and not quality. The main dentist does not seem to care about how the teeth are and does not care about the kids at all. This business is only about how much money parents have to spend on there child to get a low quality teeth cleaning service. read more

I like this dental office vices the others I've been to in this area. Huge improvement in the front desk staff AND dental assistants today when we walked in. Dr. Liu is always great with the kids, it was the dental assistants that gave attitude, but looks like that was fixed. Hygienist, Erin was really amazing! We will continue to go here. Great dental office! I brought my 4 year old for the first time, and he loved Dr. Liu! The staff is very welcoming and friendly, and Dr. Liu was very kind and caring with my son. He explained to me that there were very small cavities that we could fix with better brushing and flossing. I'm glad he's not your typical drill and fill dentist, and spent a good deal of time instructing us on how to better take care of my son's teeth. This is a review for the front office staff. I waited an hour past at their receptionist area while 7 kids who arrived after me and my son got seen before us. I reminded receptionist we were there but she forgot about us. She later admitted fault in a very belligerent tone. The doctor was fine, but I will not be going back to this location or using this provider again. read more

I will not return to this practice for multiple reasons. Truly disappointed with the dentist, staff and overall experience. I rarely write reviews but have done so on Google and now Yelp, because I felt it was necessary after our second negative experience at Superkids. The front desk fully explained my insurance and answered all my questions about the costs. Dr. Liu was patient with my son, and explained everything in detail before starting the cavities. Dr. Liu is great with the kids! The office is clean and cheerful, and the staff is friendly and helpful. My kids (7 and 3) don't mind going to the dentist. If I could leave no stars I would. I am a parent that has medicaid for my children, with medicaid your are limited to 2 cleanings per year. When I had scheduled my second cleaning for the year the lady at the front desk scheduled me 7 days away from 6 months. My insurance would not cover, leading me to be responsible for the bill. There is a definitely an honest mistake here but to what I believe is the providers mistake. Even my insurance said it was the providers fault and that I should not be responsible for it. Why should I pay for their mistake? If I could afford to pay would I be on medicaid? I called the dental office and told them I should not have to pay this bill because one of your employees had made a mistake and the office manager told me unfortunately there is nothing we can do. I asked to speak with Dr. Liu and of course Dr. Liu wanted nothing to do with it, so the office manager told me he had told her to deal with it because he doesn't deal with office finances. WOW, it just comes to show not only does he not care about his patients but he takes no responsibility for his own dental office! For me it wasn't even about the money it was more of him showing some empathy. At the end of the day, this place is just another business that only cares about money. read more

Beware-the filling Dr Liu put in my daughters mouth has needed to be replaced 3x but the reason we finally left was due to Dr Liu's staff's unprofessionalism. Dr. Liu found cavities during a routine appointment on 5/23 & I have left 7 different messages with his staff to schedule an appointment to have them filled. I called both the Potomac number & their Loudon number. They finally called 19 days later & offered 6/27 as the first available appointment. I pointed out that I had been leaving them messages since 5/23 & they could care less. I requested to speak with Dr Liu & when he finally called he said to just keep brushing (??) & that he saw no reason to have the cavities filled any sooner. Also, I pay extra for my kids to get fluoride every time but Dr Liu "forgets" even though I pay for it. It's a sad day when a dentist expects a child to wait over 6 weeks to have a cavity filled. I pointed out that I had been trying to schedule the appointment since 5/23 but just like his staff he did not care. We are stuck with my daughters filling that needs repaired & my sons cavities. If you care about your children's teeth then I suggest you not go to Dr Liu. read more
