I was referred to the owner Joe; called him after 5pm on Wed 9/12 about a leak by my chimney and said that I wanted a cricket built to address the leak. He told me to call his office and leave a message; that I'd get a call me back the next day when they got in. So I called, left a message with my name, phone#, stating that I wanted a cricket built to address a leak around my chimney.
I didn't hear back that morning, so I called again. I explained the leak; that I wanted a cricket built. She said they can do a repair that week, but jobs like crickets are a few weeks out. I say I understand and to schedule for someone to quote me on the cricket. She says they'll call me later to schedule. That afternoon I get a call back that person would come by next day. I say thank you.
The next day, Fri 9/14 a foreman comes to my house. He says he's just there to fix the leak. I say that I had asked for a quote on a cricket. I ask if it made sense to repair the leak and then later build a cricket which requires ripping up that repair work. He says it didn't make sense and that the cricket is just a few hour job and should be done. He said they could do it the following Mon or Tues. I asked him to please update the office and have someone call me.
So on Mon 9/17, I am waiting to hear from the roofing company as to the cricket. I call around noon to follow up. I'm told that I turned away the guy who was there to do the roof repair last Friday. I say that I had asked for a quote on the cricket and the foreman they sent agreed it didn't make sense to do a separate repair and cricket. I also said he told me the cricket could be done the next Mon or Tues. Apparently there had been no internal communication after the foreman visited my home. She says she will look into it and call me back. I tell her that I have a dr appointment at 11:30 and won't be available to speak during the appt..probably not till 1pm. The foreman's supervisor calls me at 12:30 and gives me attitude that I turned away the repair crew last Fri. I said 1) I'm at a dr appt and can't speak now and 2) I didn't turn him away, that the foreman had agreed about the work. The supervisor says that the foreman didn't have that authority and could only do repairs. I repeat that I don't want a separate repair, but one with the cricket. And I say I can't really speak now as the dr has come in. He keeps talking, saying that repairs are the only option. I ask why I can't schedule a cricket, even if weeks away. He then says he will send someone down again to do a repair. I again tell him NO and that I can't speak any longer as the dr is waiting.
Later I receive a call from my neighbor that roofers are at my house. I call the roofing company. She says they're there to do a repair. I said that I had stated several times that I didn't want just the repair and to please send them home and have someone contact me about scheduling the quote. I never heard back from her or anyone at the roofing company...until today 9/25. I'd shared my experience with someone who was meeting with Joe, the owner. He brought up my situation. I subsequently text Joe that I had previously called his office, stated I didn't want a simple repair but no one had followed up on making an appointment for the cricket. Joe then calls me and repeats the same thing...that he can only send people to do repairs and the cricket will be a couple of weeks. I replied that I understood, but I had been requesting the cricket appt for a couple of weeks at this point. He said someone would need to look at and quote the cricket. I said that I understood that as well, and though I had requested it, it hadn't been scheduled. At that point he told me to "lose his f_cking number and call someone else". I don't get it. I was polite with everyone in his office. I stated from the beginning that I wanted a cricket. I wasn't being difficult or expecting immediate attention. Yet they kept trying to do a repair...like they wanted to do double the work and charge me double. read more
