We ran as a family, my 8 year old thought it was amazing, my 6 year old was not really into it, but is proud of her medal. The distance was perfect for the kids, obstacles were engaging, but not too difficult for the kids, and the kids were excited to be at Belleayre, in the summer time, because it is where they ski. My one real criticism is that there was no festival feel to the event. IMHO, a half an hours worth of stuff to do after the race (dancing, face painting, limbo, whatever) would have really improved the event over all. This one minor complaint aside, Your First Mud Run is definitely worth doing.

This Super race took place at Mountain Creek ski resort which features the largest mountain in NJ-Vernon Peak. As you would expect the terrain is very mountainous with steep inclines and deep valleys. Super races are typically 8-10 miles long and consist of 25+ obstacles such as the dunk wall, weighted bucket carry, atlas ball carry, rope climb and more. The various obstacles take place on the mountain with a 1,040' vertical peak, with a base of 440 feet and a summit elevation of 1,480 feet. Your thighs, calves...and your whole body will be feeling it. The course will not have mercy on you and neither will the weather. We ran the course as the NE was getting hit with a Nor'easter. For safety reasons they eventually shortened the course as racers were experiencing injuries and hypothermia. Luckily, my team was able to complete the course without injury. In addition to the incredible views while climbing the mountain top..your reward for completing the challenge is the ultimate feeling of accomplishment! Not to mention, you get a finisher's medal, finisher's tee, headband, free post race refreshments (protein bars, bananas, fit aid recovery drinks) and one free beer. Hands down the best race for spectators! Over the years I've come to cheer on hubs and my brother…read morein laws at many races including Spartan, Tough Mudder and Warrior Dash. None have been as entertaining and exciting to watch as Savage Race located partially in the woods of a Skirmish course in the middle of eastern PA. There is a spectator fee ($15 online in advance, $25 day of), which I originally thought was lame the first time we were here about three years ago. That was until I saw we as non participants could actually run parallel to the actual course the entire 6 miles!! We are able to be right there in the action and watch so closely as our loved ones did their thing! It was awesome then and it just gets better after I got a feel for the land. If you're a down to get in a bit of a workout and get down and muddy, and probably a bit wet, this is a great race to attend! The kiddos who are actually free to watch love it too! Dress appropriately with hiking boots or sneaks and clothes you don't care that much about. We always bring a backpack with water or Gatorade, clean socks, a dry towel and flip flops. It takes roughly 1.5-2 hrs to finish. If you're not into experiencing Savage so closely, there are tables and chairs as well as some shaded areas near the final course, the Colosses, which is the best! The whole race is very well organized and is family friendly. They are very thorough with their waivers, so make sure everyone has their printed out and has their ID's ready. The area and crowds aren't super overwhelming as many of these races can be. I never worry about not being able to meet up with my entire party afterwards since we're all right there together pretty much the entire way. There's also a nice mix of natural elements and wooded areas too, which also sets this race apart from others. There's always an entertaining dj and a guy who gets everyone at the starting line pumped. The energy is infectious and everyone is super nice! This year they've added more food options such as 2 for $5 tacos to their usual burgers (beef and veggie), chicken fingers, fries and such, but we usually go to eat elsewhere afterward. Your bib price includes a cold beer post race. Parking is $10 for cars and $20 for trailers. Cash only. Just a heads up, you probably won't have reception. Unlike most races he's had to drag me to, this one we all enjoy as a family so much! Always an awesome, enjoyable day!!

WOW deserves to be first thing I mention as this place is impossible to leave without a smile!…read more Ever dreamed of driving a dirt race car, well this is the place to do it. Great location, close to the city, good staff and fast (really fast) cars. Arrive, register, take a 20 minute class to go over the basics and then suit up and get in to drive or be driven by an instructor. I did not see one frown when I was there but I did see a few guys with concerned faces but all those concerned faces came out with smiles after driving even if they did not go as fast as they expected. You surely will grown new appreciation for what the professionals do as you gill drive at third the speed and have the thrill of a life time! A must do on a bucket list!

This is my second time participating in Cupid's Undie Run to raise money for a cure for…read moreneurofibromatosis. The event was at The DL in the city. There was a bar, merchandise you could buy, and some photo opps. Check in started at 11:30am but we didn't arrive until a little after 1:00pm. We checked our clothes, had a drink, and it was time for the race. The race started at 1:30pm. Everyone's energy was great! I loved all the different costumes. The race was about a mile and it was through the streets and over a bridge. After the race, there was a party with a DJ. Overall, I had so much fun.

Our Yelp team, 'Baby it's Yelp Outside', raised over $7K+ towards this charity and won third place in fundraising for NYC...Whoo Hoo!!! Thanks to all of my supporters and contributors in helping me reach my fundraising goals which added to the teams overall goal, couldn't have done this without you. As it was explained to me, this is one of the few charities that you don't have to worry about where the funds are going as it goes directly to the Children's Tumor Foundation and that in itself makes this particular event even more than worth it. Thanks to our Yelp NYC Crew, Drew, Sierra and Katey for being there. I was genuinely happy to see our Yelp table representing, as you always do. Thanks to all the Yelpers, friends and family that came out despite the extreme cold, very brave of you considering the weather conditions. This year it was clearly stated that you did not have to do the run, which a few people heeded. But that didn't stop some of the barely clad who did the shortened run by the Westside Highway, with car horns blaring, showing love or better yet wondering what the hell is going on with hundreds of people running in their unmentionables...that was a funny sight to see. Also, thanks to Brian N. who made me aware of this charity a few years ago and Alexandra K. who ran our cool team of Yelpers this year by keeping everyone informed and pretty much managing all things necessary for our teams success. Awesome afternoon dance party with underwear wearing fund raisers, what more could you ask for? Oh, I know, temperatures in February slightly above freezing.
