I swear my new car is prone to some kind of damage. Driving through the freeway and SMACK!! Dime size rock chip right in front of the drivers side windshield. Looked through Yelp and found Jim. Called him the next day (since it got damaged on Sunday and they are closed on Sunday), he answered immediately and scheduled an appointment for the next day. I had bad front windshield wiper burn on my SUV. It was very bad at night. When all the street lights and headlights hit the windshield it looked to me like a laser light show that made very difficult to see. I actually had to move my head to look around the light beams as I drove. Jim and his associate came by during the time we scheduled during a holiday. He was very friendly and was willing to explain the reasons for the burn and how to prevent them in the future. Took about an hour to finish. He even applied some epoxy to a small crack that was bothering me. About 95% of the scratches were removed. He then applied a sealer that lasts about 6 months. The most important thing was that I could drive my car safely again at night!! He does work for some luxury dealerships, so you know he must do a good job. Anyway, I highly recommend him. This is the only guy I found that guarantees his work. The competing guys look at me incredulously when I ask about guarantees, "Of course we can't guarantee our work! There's no way to tell if the crack will continue to spread again." That may be true but this guy Jim says he'll give you your money back if it does. What I didn't know about windshield cracks is that microscopic particles of dirt can embed itself in the crack that won't show up until the resin is applied. At that point the dirt is visible and frozen there in time forever like a jurassic park mosquito. If I had known that, I would've taken the time to clean my crack (heh heh) thoroughly and let it dry in heat for a couple days before calling him to come and glue it up. That's my only gripe but I guess running a business means you have to get jobs done quickly and now so he wasn't about to wait around for a few days while I clean and dry my windshield. He said once the dirt embeds itself in the crack there's no way to get it out. I don't see the logic in that because if there's an opening for the dirt to go in, then there's an opening for it to come out. He's a little pricier than the cheapest guys out there but I ended up paying less i think because I had him fix multiple cracks at the same time, and he charges only $20 for each additional crack on the same job. read more
