Robin was such a great help, not only did he do an exceptional job replacing my shattered back glass, but upon searching for the for the right type of glass he noticed how expensive it cost for me so he did further research to find me a used glass for a better price. For me that meant a lot considering the reason why I was getting my window replaced was due to a break in. So my financials were not at all in good shape. My father brought his vehicle to Richard's Auto Glass to have his windshield replace. During the initial phone call to the owner, Robin Shibasaki to get a quote, there was clear evidence that this guy is a shady person. My father being a nice guy, he gave this shop the benefit of the doubt because the shop is close to his house and he wanted to support small businesses. My father brought his vehicle in to Richard's Auto Glass to have it repair and everything seem fine when he picked it up. The next day there were some moderate rain and there was a fair amount of water seeping through the cabin. After inspection, it was clear that the water was coming though the windshield area. Before the windshield was replaced, my father's vehicle never had water problems. My father contacted Richard's Auto Glass to raise his concerns about the improper sealing of the windshield. Mr. Shibasaki told my father, hesitantly, to bring the vehicle in again to get it inspected and repaired as needed. My father brought in the vehicle as agreed. When he picked up the vehicle, he noticed that the plastic trim by the windshield wiper was cracked and there was half-ass silicon spread around the windshield to "sealed" it. My father was very unhappy about this and raise his concerns to Mr. Shibasaki. Mr. Shibasaki said he will order the replacement plastic trim and redo the seal at later time. My father inquired to Mr. Shibasaki numerous time about when the replacement parts will be ready. However Mr. Shibasaki gave him the run around, saying the parts have not arrive yet. This is over a span of a few months. At this point, it was obvious Mr. Shibasaki haven't purchase the replacement part and just trying dodge my father. This guy is a joke! In the mean time, water is still seeping into the cabin when it rains. Part of the chassis around the windshield now show sign of rusting. My father now uses tape to temporary seal the windshield. We are now going to small claims court because my father is very upset over the matter. By all means, do not take your vehicle to Richard's Auto Glass; even if he pays you to do it. This whole situation is a nightmare for both my father and I. I was helping my father out because he doesn't speak English well. I don't understand how this business can stay a float. They do half-ass repair jobs, damaged other parts of your vehicles and lie to their customers. Mr Shibasiki is possibly the worst person in the world to deal with. He's very confrontational, conniving and a fat liar. I would give this business negative 5 stars if yelp allows it. I am not being a hater. Look at the other reviews about this business. Richards's Auto Glass is possibly one of the oldest glass shops in Honolulu. It has been around so long because of the Quality of their work. As with every establishment, especially family businesses like this one, there is always that one outstanding person who knows how to fulfill your needs. That person is Rowland Shibasaki. I have never met a single person who was not extremely satisfied with the service that Rowland provided them with. Our family has used Richards for a long time and has always been treated well. He continued to ask what price I was already quoted for and refused to give me a quote and told me to look else where. Not too impressed with his customer service. Richard's Auto Glass is an older shop with a laid back style. The owner is always in shorts and very local style which I prefer. There is one other review here which I have to say is so far off from my experience that it sounds like she really didn't go the the same place. I was checking around for pricing on my windshield and after calling four other shops he gave me the best quote so I took my car down to have the glass changed. I didn't have any place to go so I hung around while the glass was being changed. I heard Roland the owner take a few calls and noticed that he called several dealers in order to find the best price and even told one customer on the windward side who could not drive the car that he would do the job at their home for no extra charge. Been to this shop several times and must say that I was thrilled with their work each and every time! My only advice is to always ask for Rowland by name. I've learned that the shop is owned and run by 2 brothers who inherited the shop from their father. They have both worked there since they were young boys and are very knowledgeable about their craft. However, one of the brothers is not the friendliest man in the world. Ask for Rowland Shibasaki and he will guarantee that everything goes perfectly and you will receive the best customer service you could dream of. He's the kind of guy that puts meaning behind the phrase "Aloha Spirit"! The first time I went to see them I was referred by my coworker. I was having a problem with my passenger side window. It was starting to loose power and would not close completely on its own. I'd have to push up on the glass with my palm while holding the button for the window to go up. I called the shop to explain the issue and get a quote. After telling Rowland the year, make and model of my car, he asked me how long the problem had been occurring for. After getting my phone number he asked me if it would be ok if he called me in a few minutes so that he could call around for the part. A mere 15 minutes passed before I got a call back from him. Unfortunately because my car practically brand new, there weren't many options for me at that time. A new motor from the dealer would run me $250. He said sometimes there would be after market parts that he could order or even junk yards that he could salvage the parts from, but due to the newness of my particular vehicle, neither of those options were available at that time. After explaining to Mr Shibasaki that $250 was not something I could afford at that time, he told me to go ahead and bring down my car the next day and he would see what he could do until they could find a more affordable option. I dropped off my car the next morning at 9am and received a call at 10am informing me that my car was ready for pick up. To my surprise my window was in working condition! Mr Shibasaki explained that he was able to find a used window motor from a different model of Honda that would temporarily allow the window to operate with much more ease. He did explain however that it was not a permanent fix, but it should last for at least 6 months or so without problems. He told me that in the mean time he would keep a lookout for an aftermarket motor to permanently replace the used one with. Just when I thought I couldn't be pleased enough, he told me that my bill would only come out to $35! He only charged me for the part, no labor or anything! All he wanted was a handshake on the fact that if he was able to find the right part in the future, that I promise to return to them the have it installed. I couldn't believe what a great deal I got, and how friendly he was. I shook his hand, tipped him $20 and was on my way. I must admit that I forgot all about our arrangement as the months went by, simply due to the fact that I didn't have any further problems with that window. However 7 months down the line I got a call from a familiar number, (808) 222-4444 hard number to forget. To my surprise it was Rowland informing me that he had located an after market motor for my window! He asked me how the temporary was holding up and when I told him that it was still doing fine, he told me that it was now rush for me to replace it and that he could hold on to the part for as long as needed if I wanted to wait out the life of the existing one. I told him I'd call him the minute that it showed signs of dying down. To my amazement, that day didn't come for another 6 months. That day I went to start up my car and roll my windows down to allow the heat to escape only to find that the passenger side window just wasn't moving like it should. So I kept my end of the deal and gave the shop a call. Rowland answered the phone by greeting me by name, as if we were old friends and we spoke once a week. He told me to come in whenever I wanted anytime between now and Sunday. Once again I dropped my car off the following morning and received a call not more than an hour later saying it was ready for pick up. Not only does Richards Auto Glass have that old school Aloha Spirit, they also have great prices too. My bill that day came out to $85! I've been back 2 more times since then for various things and have been just as happy each time as I was the last. I think this little shop is one of the last in a dying breed of business lost to days past here in Hawaii. It's not much to look at and if you didn't know better, you might even think it was closed down if you were driving by. It is very much alive though and it's the man inside the shop that makes it so. So I would highly recommend Richard's Auto Glass to anyone in need of Automotive Glass work and definitely ask for Rowland by name! read more

my gf took her car here to fix the back window about a year ago and when we got the car back we could hear stuff in the door whenever we would open and close the door.. so she took it back and he said "yeah it's glass I cant get it out" which is ridiculous but whatever and til this day we can still hear air coming through the window ughhhh read more

WOW! Worked with Rowland. Break in, shattered front passenger window on my 2011 Honda Crosstour. Couple hundred dollars cheaper than any other quote I got. I called on the 23rd to get a quote, he gave me one within a minute (others i spent on the phone 10-15 minutes). I asked to schedule an appointment, explained he needed to find the glass and he'd call within an hour to confirm stock. Called back in less than a half hour, scheduled for next day and job was completed in less than three hours. Even did a really thorough job of cleaning up the shattered pieces of glass. Rowland also provided many safety tips, some common sense that i should've known but also others that I wouldn't have thought of. VERY friendly, excellent customer service. Avoid. They scratched my tinted window after replacing a regulator, and they didn't fix it. They said they would, but wouldn't return my calls when I tried to get them to do the right thing. Wasn't worth getting bent out of shape over it since I was very busy and didn't have the time to get into a long drawn out legal battle over a 15 year old car. read more

Nothing worse than having a non-working electric window in the down position with rain starting to fall. Roland helped get the window back up and figured out what need to be repaired/replaced. He saved me big dollars by advising that the part needed could be ordered and shipped from a west coast auto recycler for less than half of what Volvo parts wanted to charge here locally.
