I made an appointment for 2:00pm came in a few minutes before then. There are two stylists and only one person was in a chair getting cut. The other stylists starts to check me in when one of their regulars comes in and she tells me that she's going to take care of this lady before me "because she will be quicker". Why even allow me to make an appointment. Why start the process of checking me in and sitting me down just to have me go to the back of the line because a regular walks in without an appointment.... This was the worst haircut experience I've gone through! There were so many things wrong with this. First my appointment was almost 15 mins late because the stylist, Donna, was just talking to her previously client. Then, getting into the actual haircut everything felt so rushed! During the haircut, she split my hair into sections, when she going through the sections, she would brush it out, however, it is common sense to brush your hair from bottom to top, especially for people who work on hair. She was yanking at my hair because she didn't have the patience to brush it correctly and I would say a lack of care. Mind you, this was not a one time thing, it happened at every section when she would start working on it. After the haircut was done, most salons usually have you look in a mirror so you can see what it looks like, however she just took the cape off and didn't give me a mirror to check my hair. Put in an appointment online for my kid and walked in and was asked by the younger female hairstylist if we had an appointment while she was finishing up with her client only to have another person walk in after us get serviced and left with no response why we had to wait and the other person got to sit in and get cut while we checked in prior to the other person walking in. Come here at your own risk. It's a total crapshoot, even for boys haircuts. Every time my kids get a good haircut, we ask the stylist what guards she uses and we make sure to tell the next one the exact same numbers. That never seems to work. Too short, uneven, sometimes long pieces left that I have to trim when I get home. Pretty tired of this rollercoaster. If it wasn't so close to where we live, I'd never go back. Because a couple of those haircuts were really good, it's getting two stars. But the bad ones are really, really bad. I do feel bad for a couple of those stylists that know what they're doing. I've been coming here for a few years now for cut and color and NEVER had an issue until recently.  Last Wednesday 7/11 I got my roots dyed to cover up the whites.  From the front it looked like the stylist (her name was Carley according to the receipt) did a good job so I didn't think anything of it. Last Saturday 7/14 I went to get my hair rehighlighted.  I hadn't done it in almost a year and I wanted to bring the highlights back up.  I didn't do the roots and highlights on the same day because I did not want to be at the salon that long. When I got home, I wanted to see what the highlights looked like from the top, so I took a picture of my head, only to find a BUNCH OF MISSED WHITE HAIRS.  It was 3 days later, there is no way my hair could have grown out that fast.  The stylist on Wednesday had missed spots. I'm really upset.  I usually do it at home once a month but figured I'd start getting it done professionally every 3-4 months or so because I know I don't do the best job, and I figured the professionals would be able to fix my mistakes.  WRONG!  I could have saved $60 and done it myself with almost the same results read more

Decided to give this place a "whirl" since for a guy, it's hard to find a good person that cuts your hair to your liking right! I didn't have a appointment, so got on the list, told about 45- mins to an hour, took my name and cell number and I waited. It was lesser then the time they quoted, sat in the chair, nicely greeted and asked how I wanted my hair cut. I prefer 1-1/2 blade size cut on the sides, finger length short on the top to gel and spike. The final product met my expectations and I was satisfied with the young lady in the first set chair who cut my hair today 3/9/18. I'd mention her name to give her props, but for respect and courtesy I will leave it out of my review. I took a card with her name, as like I said earlier, it's really a challenge to find someone who cuts hair to a personal liking. I'll be back!!! read more

I dont have high expectations for a Supercuts, and a pretty easy haircut, but this place is really hit or miss. Sometimes, the hairdresser would have me in and out in 15 min, with a satisfactory haircut. The last couple of times though, completely made me go elsewhere. 1. Same haircut as always (notes on file), and the particular hairdresser took over an hour of cutting. I really dont know why. Maybe she was new, or just extra detailed? Haircut came out alright, just reallllly slow. 2. Again, same haircut as always. But this time, it was godawful. Took about 20min, and my hair was still slightly damp when I left, but something looked a little off. I couldnt put my finger on it, but I dont care a ton about my haircuts, so it wasnt a huge deal, and I left. Once my hair dried, it became super apparent. My bangs were uneven and weirdly shaped, the sides of my head werent blended with the top, and even my sideburns were noticeably different lengths, by a long shot. Im not usually one to care about a "meh" haircut, but this was bad. I cant for the life of me remember the hairdressers name, but I would definitely ask walk out the door if I saw her there again. The only reason for 3 stars is because Ive had satisfactory experiences before, maybe 6 out of 8 times. Now, I do find that the location by waipio foodland has a little bit faster/friendlier people. read more

You like cheap? Me too, thus the reason I trek the kids with me to the Ka Uka Supercuts (just on the fringes of the Waipio Costco parking lot, Mililani side). Don't be fooled. I'm getting a pretty good cut for the cheap price, and being patient to get the same stylist (if that's what Supercuts calls them), you're getting consistency as well. My favorite stylist is Amy, a Chinese girl with a heavy accent and great smile. She has her work station at the back of the place, but if she's not busy, she hangs around the reception area. She's super personable, likes to talk about how cute my kids are (which I like), and how handsome I am (which I really like, sorry wifey). The few times Amy's not working (that's rare), I always gamble and go with someone else on staff. It usually works out OK, considering I get the easiest cut there is (crew cut), but if I get the older Filipino lady at the closest to the front work station, I'm doomed. It happened again last weekend when she used the electronic clippers only and went way too high and tight on the sides. I feel like I'm in the military now. Why doesn't she use scissors? I like the sound of the scissors clipping, and the hands massaging my scalp (sorry again wifey). All-in-all, the service and the price making coming back to Ka Uka Supercuts well worth the risk of the anti-scissors stylist. read more

After growing tired of their location at the Waipio shopping center, I started coming to this location. The one positive for this place is that it opens at 8:00 am; an hour earlier than the Waipio shopping center and Waikele shopping center locations. For a while, I had some decent stylists but the last two trips have changed my mind. The stylists have just become lazy and move at a snail's pace. After my second to last trip here, and wasting so much time, I stopped coming. I kept away for months, and today I came back to give this location another shot. Same as the last time. There were two stylists here when they opened- a male and female. There were also two customers ahead of me. The female started with her customer first and after again moving at a snail's pace finally finished. I thought I was finally gonna get my hair cut but instead I had to watch her take another 10 minutes to clean her area, do some paperwork, and then start sweeping the store. I didn't say anything. I just stood up and walked out despite knowing I was next in line and no one was waiting behind me. I gave this place another chance and just wasted more of my time. I hope that female stylist gets retrained in customer service. read more

Since my regular stylist has moved on to a different employer I have made my way back to this particular location. All the workers here are good at their job of making people look their best. I am pretty particular about my hair and feel very confident that I will always get a great cut at this location because the girls know exactly how to style my hair. I love Supercuts! Even though it mentions it is a Men's Salon, it doesn't stop me from going to Joy. I get my haircuts done from Joy and she is so great. I've gotten haircuts done from "well-known"/"popular-by-social-media" hair stylists and they can be crazy over priced ($45+). And also, not even up to par with what you wanted your hair to be. Here at Supercuts, haircuts start at $18! I've never paid over $30 for a haircut over here. In fact, I pay $30 with tip included. Here at this salon, they also have a Keurig machine which drinks are available to customers also. (Must I say, that other "popular hairstylists" don't even offer any drinks) About Joy, she absolutely is easy to talk to and always makes sure to have your hair cut in the certain way you want it to be. She checks up during the middle of a session to confirm if a specific style is okay or if the length is right enough for you. She honestly does an amazing job. Overall, this is a great place to get a hair cut. I was able to download the Supercuts app as Joy mentioned to try it and it is so convenient as well! You're able to find a Supercuts near you, check available appointments with the available hairstylists for the day, and also book an appointment for the day! Don't fault me for being budget-conscious and having a slight bias towards the education of my stylist, but I'm totally sold on this location. Ask for Ashlee - she's my stylist of choice. Keep in mind, this is coming from a female perspective and cutting women's hair is not the same as men's so I can't vouch for that aspect. As far as my hair cut, though, it's exactly what I needed. Ok, so the education bias is what you're wondering about? She (and a couple of the other stylists who were present) graduated from Paul Brown which also happens to be my alma mater. (I told you there was a bias.) Since I know and trust the instructors and educational background of her cosmetology school, I'm all the more at ease getting my hair done at this location. Yes, the $20 haircut is also a big selling point. Being a stay-at-home mom, I like to keep the cost of my beauty routine to a minimum, assuming I'm even willing to get services done in the first place. I've been known to avoid getting my hair cut not more than once a year (I was taught to know better, but I just can't validate the spending,) so the price tag helps. Now I know that I can get a haircut every 4 to 6 weeks (like you're supposed to!) and not break the bank and not walk out with a lopsided do. Phew! read more

My boyfriend and I always get our haircuts done at this Supercuts location. It can get busy at times and if you're on a time crunch, I would make an appointment. Usually we walk-in since we don't mind the wait. I got my haircut by Ashlee. She was really nice and she cut my hair the way I wanted it: short and layered. I usually let my hair grow out to my hips and for once, I wanted to enjoy a nice haircut that looked better-suited for my work environment. As she cut my hair, she never failed to asked if I like my haircut and how exactly I wanted it done. She made sure to stop once in a while so that I can really see how she's cutting my hair then ask my opinion. I have thick hair and because it's summer, I wanted light, thin hair so that I wouldn't feel so hot. She did a perfect job. My hair is cut the way I wanted it and for a very reasonable price. My boyfriend also got his hair cut today. He always styles his hair in a fauxhawk and since the first time we've been here back in 2010 until now he's probably had every stylist at least once, so we've seen different fauxhawks. His favorite fauxhawk was done by Gloria. She worked really fast paced and his haircut looked sleek and precise. She was also very friendly and easy to talk to. If you want a good haircut, Supercuts in Ka Uka is the place to go. The staff are always ready to answer the phone and someone is always greeting you when you walk-in. They have a sign-in sheet where you can write your name, what type of service you want, and if you have a specific stylist you want. They also have this new system going on where they enter your name in their database that shows when you got the last haircut and what you did during your last visit (what clips you wanted for a haircut, what color you dyed your hair, or if you just trimmed). read more

Here it goes: There are few things finer in life than getting your hair cut by an attractive woman wearing a low-cut top. There is a Beavis and Butthead cartoon called "Top of the Mountain" that is solely about this topic. Now that I've completely objectified her, let me hasten to add that my buxom and comely stylist was also very friendly and courteous, did a great job cutting my hair, and served me quickly but without rushing. This is the second time I've come here and received an awful haircut. I've been coming here for years but the past 2 haircuts I got here were terrible. The first bad experience was with a stylist who kept the scissors in her hand the entire time, including when she would comb/yank my hair from front to back nearly stabbing me in the eye with it. My hair looked ok but the experience was very bad. Today I went in and specifically said "trim 3 inches and add layers" she trimmed the 3 inches and proceeded to cut more off with the layers.....it's shorter than I wanted it and the cut is poorly done. The layers look so choppy and uneven. When I saw how much hair was on the floor I knew I wasn't going to be happy. (See photo) ***update: I called later to express my dissatisfaction with my haircut. I'm not sure who I spoke with but I was offered a full refund. I went in the following day and the manager was very apologetic and gave me my money back. She said there have been other complaints about this stylist who was a transfer from another store. Im really sad about my hair but I appreciate that they cared. I actually stumbled upon this place because one of their stylists was cutting hair for cop on top. So I decided to check it out. The salon is very clean and the stylists are very friendly here. They really pay attention to what you want to do and make very great suggestions. I've changed my haircut many times because of their wonderful suggestions. If you come during a weeknight, there is usually little to no wait. I would avoid coming during the day or on weekends because it can get really busy and the parking is very minimal. The stylists here really treat you like family and not just another client. They really take the time to get to know you and I always feel very welcome. I really like how they note down how you cut your hair. I often forget what kind of guard or blade they use so this feature is very helpful. They run various specials via text message and email. I don't live in waipio anymore but I make the drive because there is consistently good service at this location. In the past year I've gotten my hair cuts here and highlighted a couple of times. The staff is always friendly, listen to how you'd like your hair done, and double check their work. I've never come out disappointed. Like most Supercuts you now have to do color services only during the week (no highlights fri-sun) but understandable since it takes a lot of time.... just something to be aware of if you're booking an appt. read more

Just when I thought a simple haircut couldn't get worse than one from AAFES. At twice the price of AAFES, I thought the result would be better, and I was willing to spend $18 instead of $8 for a better product. Now, just a little bit about what lead me to this rating. My first and second visit would have resulted in 3/5. My third and last attempt, leaves me with hair that looks worse than those times in the past that I had tried to cut it myself. First, there was the seeming common inability to use scissors. Second, there was too much distraction with yapping to the other stylists. Most importantly, the technique used with the clippers was unlike anything I had ever seen. 10 days later and I'm still looking in the mirror wondering how someone can get paid to do what they did. It is absolutely shocking. On a more positive note, the young lady that was working at the reception counter was much more friendly and professional than what is typically found in Hawaii. read more

ALWAYS ASK IF THE "stylist" IS TRAINING!!! Make sure you fully understand what you are getting into!!! Okay im half calm...I'll start here... My hair cut by Lily....fabulous!! Showed her a pick, we talked about what I wanted, no problems!! Even her tea tree experience was awesome!! Loved every moment!!....UNTIL....I had to wait almost an hour for them to cut my boyfriends hair. I was there when we talked about the cut...she said she knew...we showed a his las hair cut...she said she new...BUT when she started cutting I KNEW SHE WAS SCARED...but I let it go, made some jokes like "dont worry it grows back"...and left them alone and play on my phone...30 mins I look up and its F'N crooked and messy!!! So I stand up and watch closely....she cuts more, it gets worse...manager comes out and talks her thru it...as the manager greets another customer, she explains "Im training today".... at that point, IM UPSET! Shouldnt customers get a heads up when you have a trainee?!! Dont get me wrong I wouldnt mind but if you cant do the haircut--DONT take the job!! Manager took over....Im upset, we were 30 mins late for the movie...luckily he played good cop so atleast someone was nice. At this point, I was calm but NOT very nice at all. I had shas tonight as my stylist. I had a dinner to go to and was in a rush. She was able to get me in and out in no time. She was very nice, as was the girl at the counter. What I appreciated the most though, she went over every section of my hair twice, asked my opinion on what I wanted, but made good suggestions to make it better....she even touched up my beard and straitened out my brow line, which no stylist there did before.
