My husband brought my seven-year-old in to get a trim. My husband told the stylist, Pamela, to keep my son's bangs long because my son has a cowlick in the front. Pamela not only chopped my son's bangs right up to the skull, she made them bizarrely uneven. My son looks ridiculous. We are going to have to buzz his head. Terrible terrible terrible low life service from the hair worker make my 7yrs old daughter walk out there cry and upset all day. Ruin my daughter Christmas wish (have a cool looking at Christmas party with classmates the next day) We came sat got appointment 9am next day sun for my 7yrs old daughter get 2 small front hair streak and curl hair.After 4hrs we been waiting the hair worker AFTER cut hair for 3guy,she starting curl my daughter hair. When I see my daughter hair only curl at the bottom of the hair not full head I let she know she my daughter wants full head curl not just the bottom. The hair worker said the salon limit the supply and she doesn't have the smaller hot iron to curl my daughter hair????? I said whatever just finish for my daughter and we can get out of there We been here 4hrs already. Even I came back to waiting seat hair worker still keeps screaming at me saying things that she gave my 7yrs old daughter good deal 50dollars for 2mall hair streak that 1side ok 1side the color only show on the top NOT bottom of the hair looks like paint only haft of the nail .(hair worker said 50dollars. We NEVER make offer. How could she say she gave my daughter good deal???)and hair curl for 12-15dollars. Hair worker said We should appreciate her and SHOULDNOT complain her about how she dye or curl my daughter hair or been waiting 4hr. Still not enough she went to the room,left my daughter sit there and tell another worker tell my daughter and I get out ...ur lucky day no charge ??? We PAID her anyway . I just don't know how come the hair worker already knew that I am working as nail and hair tech over 26yrs live and work less than 1minute walk from the hair salon ,my 2other sons come here for hair cut also and still threat my daughter like today? Went for a haircut today, arrived early afternoon, there was no wait, got right in without an appointment. I mentioned to the stylist, Jen, that I was donating my hair. She said that Supercuts does not charge anyone who makes a hair donation to charity! Not only that, but they have the forms right there and kits they use to make the collection and mail to the charity. All you have to do is fill out the form from the charity (Supercuts provides the form) and Supercuts does the rest. What an incredibly nice gesture, and a great way to encourage people to donate hair. I donated to Children with Hair Loss, they accept color-treated hair and require a minimum 8 inch length of hair donation. They make wigs for children who have lost their hair. Jen told me it takes 7 donations to make one wig for a child, so it takes hair from a lot of people just to make one wig. Not only did Jen graciously coordinate my donation, I also got a fantastic cut. Even though the salon made no money on my visit, she took the time and gave me a very precise haircut. I gave her a tip roughly equal to the amount of what the haircut would have been. I could not have been happier with the entire experience. Jen is the manager at this location, which was very neat and clean. The other stylists were friendly and knowledgeable. I know a lot of people look down upon the "chair hair cut places" and use a more chi chi salon. But honestly you're not going to get a better hair cut there than you are here. Terrible! I got a haircut here once and hated it, but kept waiting for it to settle in after a few washes. It never did look right, so I just fixed it at home rather than going back to these incompetent people. I didn't even feel like the hassle of complaining was worth it, as I highly doubted that I'd get any money refunded and I certainly didn't want them to touch my hair again to try to fix it. I then figured, hey, this place sucks for haircuts but they can't mess up eyebrow waxing, right? Right! But their service is so bad that I gave up on that too -- I got my eyebrows done here a few times with not much trouble, but the last time I went in, I had called ahead to put my name in and was told that I would be next on the list, and to show up in about 20 min. My house is a 20 min walk from there, perfect! I headed out, got there in 20 min, and gave the woman at the desk my name and reminded her I'd called ahead. There was one man sitting there waiting, who I had seen from across the street walking in about 1 min ahead of me. The "stylist" was just finishing up a haircut, so I should have been next, right, since I had put my name in before the guy who walked in? Nope! She called him over and I said "sorry, I think I was next, I called ahead and was told I'd be next in line" and the lady said "oh we don't do that." WTF?? You told me very clearly that you do exactly that, what craziness is this? So I waited, figuring that I'd already invested 20 min into this venture, so I may as well stick it out. And waited, and waited, while one "stylist" cut the man's hair and 2 of them chatted in the back (ironically next to the chair where they do facial waxing). They must have been "on break," or maybe just terribly rude and idiotic, because I sat there waiting for another full 20 min, and when I finally spoke up again to ask when someone would be available to do my eyebrows. The 2 chatty cathies in the back looked over, very annoyed at my presence, and the woman doing the haircut said "after I'm done here," and I sat there incredulous for another 2 minutes before getting up and leaving. I used to cut my own hair, haphazardly, with a pair of Andis clippers. Once, due to a series of unfortunate events, I ended up needing a new passport photo the day I cut my hair. I hadn't realized quite how much of a goob I looked like. Since I was going from free to paying for haircuts, I chose a Supercuts, and it was better than I did for myself. Periodically I'm burned by a supercut, but what I've learned is that if you know what you want and tell the cutter how to do it, things generally turn out alright, and I've been going to this location since I moved to Pittsburgh and have never had a bad experience. The Supercuts I used to go to in Boston was renovated with a spa-feel. Mostly that meant new seating, and heated-massage chairs at the sinks where they do shampoos. Not the case in Shadyside. It's in a stripmall, and everything is kind of dated. The only "spa" treatment they have is the tea tree experience: you get a bit of a hot towel face massage and special tingly tea tree shampoo. Some of the cutters will spend several minutes on this, while others finish so fast it seems like they have an aversion to scalp-contact. It's hit or miss in terms of the amount of time they spend, but for $5 that's a risk I'm willing to take. Of course you can do the same for yourself with a little Dr. Bronner's, but after letting someone operate sharp machinery near my face, sometimes I want to be pampered just a bit. So far, while some have been better than others, I've never had an embarrassing cut at this location, and if you're a dude with short hair, you can be in and out during your lunch break at work for $30 (or about $20 if you don't want the shampoo). read more

This is just a horrific place. Every time you go in there are a new set of cutters... For some reason they always quit or get transferred. You walk in and sometimes you are acknowledged, sometimes not... The last time I was in I was told someone would be right out. After waiting 10 minutes a woman reeking of cigarettes came out. She looked furious. She just said 'are you next?'. No hello or greeting of any kind. She asked how I wanted my hair and never said another word. She didnt thank me for coming in or say thank you for the $5 tip I gave on a cut that took 8 minutes and cost $17. Never going back - need to find a barber. Corporate needs to do some customer service training here. read more

Went here with a friend for his haircut. It's been a long time since I've been to a barber shop or haircut salon/store, but from what I remember this place seems completely average. The hair stylists seem nice enough and competent. The wait was a few minutes- I actually expected the wait to be longer because we came in on a Saturday. If I ever need a haircut (which I haven't gotten in maybe 5 years!), I wouldn't have a problem stopping in here- but I tend to enjoy my long shaggy mop..... read more

Recently I experienced a rather questionable scenario whereas my stylist told me that the company increased their prices for color however it's not reflective on any of their pricing forms or posters in the salon. Since I trust her and she is the manager I paid the higher price but for these prices you should be able to make an appointment. I arrived here at 215 and I have at least another 45 minutes. If I didn't t like the stylist I would go to a Higher price salon as my time is valuable to me read more

Just had the worst haircut experience I've had in 28 years. Said exactly what I wanted but the lady went ahead and cut my hair how she decided. When I said something she got very combative and argumentative. She said this is the right way to do it and she's been cutting hair for 11 years, completely ignoring my wishes. Luckily she mentioned leaving Pittsburgh within the month. So I guess the feeling was mutual. i'm not sure why this place has bad reviews. its par for thecourse for supercuts. standard cut 16.95 is a bit pricy but they always do exactly what I say. i've simple hair so it works well for me. employees are generally nice, sometimes like talking to me sometimes talk just to each other, worth three stars for sure. read more

Nothing spectacular, but I go there regularly, and generally get a cut that works fine for at least a couple of months. They did a good job after I had a botched cut overseas (hairdressers in Japan are, understandably, not necessarily qualified to work on non-Asian hair, as they don't cut a lot of it). Parking can be tough, depending on time of day--there's a shared private lot, but it's small. read more
