I had an appointment today at 9am with Anna at the Regis in Kenwood. All I needed was a retouch of color and flatiron. She got hair dye all over my face. Then her flat iron job was awful. She left my hair frizzy and not done. It was not straight. She left the roots of my hair curly and my hair had fly aways and mad static. I have never had such a horrible job in my life. She is the worst worker ever. I can't even say stylist because she is awful and had no accountability for her work. She acted as if it was great. She took no action to fix it nor did I get an apology. The worst thing is she didn't appoliguze and acted as if she did nothing wrong. That is the worst kind of person to have working for you. Just horrible. I am so upset to have had this experience. You should be ashamed of yourselves for such awful service and behavior. Upset at Christmas!!!!!

I am still unclear how asking for my long hair to be brought up to my shoulder ended up near my ear. And then when it looked terrible after being blown dry, she told it me "oh I haven't used the flat iron yet." Seriously? A bad cut is a bad cut. I told her to it needed to look better and she asked me how to fix it - again... Seriously? I don't cut hair... after a little layering it was slightly improved, but now I am relegated to a pony tail until I get another hair cut (elsewhere obviously) to fix it. I just moved, and usually have had good experiences for a hair cut on- the-go at Regis, but this was pathetic. I guess I should have used Yelp to help me find my new Salon...

My first time in this salon. I was concerned when I saw only one person working, as I had only a few hrs before my Granddaughter had to be at Girl Scouts. He assured me....20 minutes at most. FIFTY minutes later, we were rushed to the room. From there it only got WORSE........ I have the worst haircut ever!! There are blunt choppy cuts, missing gaps and my "to my eyebrow please" bangs are halfway up my forehead. I kinda look like I have a BAD mullet!! At one point, when he cut my bangs, I had water dripping down my face off my chin and a hunk of hair on the side of my nose. He took several minutes, finally got a towel and dabbed some of the water off my face, leaving the hair on my face and my chin dripping. I was stunned when he asked "How's that" as he was walking away ....at this point I just wanted to cry or scream. He was done. I asked to use his blow dryer for my dripping bangs, and dabbed my still wet face. He said yes. I dried my hair. he asked me how it was...an I told him, mind you, I was trying to hold myself together....I told him of all the chops and gaps...he said he thought it looked fine. I wanted to cry!! What a mess! He asked my Granddaughter into the chair i had gotten up from and blew her hair out. Asked me if it was short enough on the sides. All I could think of was getting her the heck out of that salon! So I said it was okay. I told him again at the cash register that my hair was horrible! My words were more like...this is not good, as I was trying to keep me cool. Again, he said he thought it looked fine, "what is wrong with it? he asked", and again I showed and told him of all the chops and gaps. "No, it looks fine, he says" I was holding on to my temper at this point, but said "LOOK!! this is not my first haircut (I am in my 50's), I know bad and this BAD" Well ,I am sorry you think so, and what to you want? To not pay for it?? He said. We agreed that I would only pay for my Granddaughters cut...which I only agreed to as I wanted to run (my fight or flight had kicked in!!) outa there crying. I have since called their customer service. Crying and blathering on about my experience. A year of growing my hair back from my Chemo was destroyed, I said. What was I to do about my lost 7 or 8 inches of hair. Now all hacked away. An my Granddaughters haircut? Matter of factually, the girl on the line agreed to refund me the $ for her cut. Wait...what about my hair?!? Oh, would you like to see the manager?? she asks. OMGosh!!! So, tomorrow I will meet with the manager to see what IF anything can be done to make my hair somewhat presentable. The name of the guy who cut my hair is Michael (in case there are 2 Michael's there, this gentleman was African American about in his...maybe in his 30's) Ohhhh I should say....he comp'd her conditioning treatment. Because of our initial wait, he said. Now wasn't that nice of him. ALSO....I have hunks missing out of the back of my hair. I didn't know this until my daughter gasped when she saw me. Had me turn around for her and really about fell out!! I didn't know about the back, as he did not give me a mirror. Check back, as I will post some pics once i can figure out if I can and how.

I sat and listened to the conversations and unlike other salons I've been to here and in my native Chicago, where women tend to go to the same salon for years, here it's all superficial fluff. These people are as phony as a $3 bill. They don't want to know you; they just want your money. And they tend to be super conservative... The receptionist even tried to tell me how much to tip! The color was decent, but the cut was flat, no volume or bounce. Worse, when you try to tell them how you like to wear your hair they get pissed off! They walk on water in their minds. They do not care what you think or what you want. Their products are overpriced, but they never recommend them, anyway. Most stylists will suggest styling products to help you at home. Again, they don't care once you walk out of there. My stylist was full of herself, always bragging about what a great stylist she was. Thank God I found a better place that's only a few minutes further but well worth it. At Hair Forum, they stick you with whoever has the fewest appointments. (Wonder why). My current salon goes through the stylists' varied experience and prices and seeks to match you with someone who will work with you. It's perfect because it's a collaboration, not being stuck with a dictator.

She did not try to come across as if her way was best as she was open to hearing what has and hasn't worked in the past, which was very important to me. She truly wanted to have an understanding of what I wanted. I have very thick long hair and it is important that my hair remain healthy, which was something that Annetta mentioned right away. I have not been disappointed with how my hair turns out each time. Annetta uses high quality products which aid in promoting healthy hair, she recommends treatments that coincide with the weather and/or are needed at the time and she ALWAYS takes her time. She does not stack appointments where you are sitting in the salon for hours on end. I'm typically out of the salon within 2 hours max which is a big deal to me. I feel that Annetta is equally as good as my last stylist in Los Angeles and was a very rare find. I recommend her to anyone that ever compliments or asks about my hair. She was very nice and was more than happy to work with my schedule. During my visit with her, she listened carefully to what I was asking for, asked questions in return to clarify, and went to work on my long mane. Nothing fancy, just needed the bangs thinned out and a tiny bit snipped that overhung on my ear. I had an appointment, went in, and as soon as the stylist picked up the scissors I wanted to bolt. The older lady there has hands that shake badly. Enough so that every time she got close to my ears or my eyes I held my breath and tried not to move. She was nice enough, asking questions and trying to be polite, but I was unable to relax in that short amount of time because I was terrified of being poked. The worst part was the time and price. It took her all of five, maybe seven minutes to thin the bangs and shape up the sides, and had the audacity to charge me $50. $50 for shaky hands and 5 minutes worth of work? I can't go back, and I can't recommend that you do, either.
