After a late start on the pedi by the owner who was doing my pedi work, she finished around 5 PM. Then the owner ordered me to sit at a mani station, where I waited 20 minutes for service. Finally I got up to look for the owner, who was doing a pedi on a different customer. I asked her what's going on. She said I had to wait for a manicurist, and it would be another 15 minutes before he was free. I do not have 3+ hours to spend on a simple mani/pedi! I left after making another mani appt for 8:45 the next morning. I arrived on time, and still had to wait and then go looking for the manicurist who I found cutting oranges in the back of the salon. "I'll be 5 minutes!" she said. Still waiting, she finally appeared. She did no cuticle work whatsoever, just polish removal and new polish. Not a satisfactory job whatsoever. 3. While this was going on, another customer arrived for 9 AM appt. Her manicurist never even arrived at the salon until 9:15. 4. The laminated services page I was handed was filthy. I tried to point that out to the owner, who ignored my comment about the crud and kept insisting I buy the most expensive service. That I did NOT do. 5. The shame of all of this is that there are actually good employees who want to do the right thing for their customers. Tony, my usual manicurist, who is wonderful, was on vacation. My mistake was expecting his level of service from other employees. 6. My daughter, who spends upwards of $200 every other week at nail salons, had a very similar experience as mine at Rio two weeks ago. It took them over 3 hours for her mani and pedi. She will never return to Rio, nor will I. I will miss Tony but I cannot reward such a poor company with my business.

Hair services are available for men, women and children. My appointment included full highlights, shampoo, cut and style. It had been years since I had had anything more than a trim done to my hair. I knew it was time to get my hair done. Other than highlights and a cut, I wasn't 100% sure on the color or style. Ashley asked questions, explained the color options, and made suggestions. Her explanations of color, as it pertains to my hair, made a lot of sense. It was information that had previously never been explained to me. They are often busy and don't take appointments. No matter if there is 2 people or 10 in front of you, they will ALWAYS say the wait is only going to be 20 minutes. There have been many times I have waited longer. The good thing about it being in Meijer is that you can go do your shopping while you wait. They do a satisfactory job. I have had better manicures and pedicures in my life but not many for this cheap. Prices are definitely at the low end of the nail salon spectrum. I do somewhat wonder about how clean this store is... There is just a feeling I get that makes me wonder about the cleanliness of their tools.
