I've been coming here for years, as with any haircut place you're lucky to see the same person more than 3 or 4 times this place is no different having a high turn over but the crew is always pretty proficient and friendly. The best Stylist currently working here is Stephanie. Mariana seems pretty rushed but i think it's more that she doesn't talk my ear off and focuses on my hair. I'd never rate a supercuts 5 stars as all the locations I've been to have made me wait for an employee to do paperwork rather than doing this sort of thing during a slow shift and none of them train there staff to keep the personal talk and drama down in front of customers. read more

Booking my appointment was easy and friendly. However I got the worst haircut and awkward service. My hair stylist I can't remember his name but it started with an N ( Nick maybe ). The conversation was getting a little overwhelming. He talked about himself way too much and I just wanted to get out of there. He also talked about the work place with other co-workers in front of me and I alway find that to be bad customer service. All of that would have been fine if I got a good hair cut, but I didn't. I left with my hair still wet, so it wasn't until I got home and dried it that I noticed how blunt my hair was cut. I had to pay someone that next week to redo my hair. I did call the store and left a message and never heard back. Please don't go here, the store itself is outdated and kind of dirty/ falling apart. The owner from what I understand is a student at UF and obviously isn't putting money into this dump. It's a shame. If you are getting a simple hair cut then maybe you'll be ok. read more

I am 59 years old and have had more than a few haircuts at many different Supercuts, and I know you get what you pay for....but I've never had one like this. I could have done a better job myself. Not even interested in going back for them to fix it, I'll never go in there again. It's like the stylist (Karen) forgot to finish one side of my head lol. I might have noticed before leaving the salon if she had offered to blow dry it but it seemed like they were busy so I did not ask for it, my bad I guess. The day I went for my appointment the guy told me that the appointment was made for the next month!. such a big mistake they made but instead of apologizing, he was rude to me as if I am the one who made the mistake. At this time the hair stylist came and checked is schedule and told me he is booked up for the whole day but MAY cut my hair in between clients if they don't show up without even apologizing for their mistake. At first I didn't really want to post a negative review, but after long, careful thought, decided to. My son and I went in for hair cut appointment on May 30, 2020. I let him go first. He's picky and when the hair was cut out of his face, I was glad. He wasn't pleased that some of his hair wasn't cut equally, something he found out later at home. I had very long hair and requested a short cut due to summer weather. No problem with the length it was cut to, but when I got home later and shampooed it for myself, I saw big problems in unevenness and downright jagged large areas. My hair was hacked up and I nearly cried. It's been about 7 weeks that I've had to use barrettes in both sides while letting it grow out in places. I'd asked to have my hair thinned in the back and sides, not completely destroyed. I don't know about the other stylist there that day. She might've done a much better job. I don't know the name of the "stylist" we had, only that it was a man. I want to think his name was David (same as my son's), but I could be wrong. I toyed with the thought of going back and making him fix it, but was afraid he'd do even more damage. We've both been letting our hair grow and will go to Hair Hunters in the future. The other thing that bothered me was "David" had a really big stomach that was constantly pressing into my arms. Yuck! I'd definitely tell people to not allow him to touch your hair. One star because the staff did use proper disinfectant techniques per COVID guidelines. read more

This place completely exceeded my expectations. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. Nick cut my hair and Kelsey trimmed my daughter's hair. They took their time and asked questions to make sure they understood what we wanted. They both did a great job and it was obvious that they take pride in what they do. It's nice to know that there is an affordable salon in Gainesville that delivers quality results in a friendly atmosphere. We will definitely be back the next time we need a cut. read more

I've been going to Supercuts for years and to this location since I moved to Gainesville over three years ago. Kayla has been cutting my hair for most of that time. She ALWAYS does a great job. FYI -- do yourself a favor and download the Supercuts app. I use it to check in ahead of time and I never have to wait more than a few minutes. read more

First time I got a haircut here, about four months ago, things went so well, I thought I had found a regular place. Two months later, the same stylist, Mariana, gave me a cut, and she seemed rushed and distracted, talking to other stylists. But the shop wasn't very busy. The cut was not nearly as nice as on the first visit. Willing to give her another shot, believing anybody can have a bad day, I went back yesterday with my wife, who sat with another stylist, Stephanie. There was only one other customer in there when we arrived, and a total of three stylists. Yet the two stylists working on us rushed as if they were slammed. Mariana slipped with the electric trimmers over my left ear, then blamed me for moving. I told her to just go shorter all around, no problem. She said she couldn't do that, as it would look worse. A few minutes later she asked, "How's that for you?" I said a little shorter, please, and she actually whined, "But you told me number 8, I would have to start over." Note that I could see the spot over my left ear where she slipped upwards with the trimmers. My wife got a terrible cut, very ragged and uneven in the back, despite Stephanie saying, "Your hair is so easy to cut because it is so straight." Despite the two bad cuts, I tipped well, impulsively. I should not have. I debated posting here, because I don't like to be so critical, but my wife's hair has to be fixed someplace else, and when I see it, I know I have to warn others. One other thing: All the stylists are trained, apparently, to greet anybody coming in, no matter how many times you've been there, with, "Is there something I can help you with?" Must call ahead...you should ask if Liam is available! If not don't go, every time I've not called ahead I sit and wait for the ONE stylist on duty to tell me she has appointments scheduled, but if one doesn't show up, then she can take me. There are at least 5 chairs in that place, and only one stylist on duty when there are appointments all day?!? Anyway, Liam has always done a wonderful job, as I now only call ahead and schedule my appointment with him. Any other person who has ever cut my hair (I'm balding) has done mediocre at best, but Liam is magic! And when I get there, every time, there are walk-ins waiting for their opportunity to slide in between appointments because of the lack of available staff. Have normally enjoyed the haircuts I get from here, Thank you Samantha. But, today, oh my. My regular was on vacation but I needed a style so I decide to let Mariana do it. I literally stopped the "stylist" in mid cut because I could not take it anymore. She was literally grabbing handfuls of hair and just chopping through it. Then she took the electric trimmer and ended up giving me burns on the back of my neck. I told her that this was not the right way to do it and she replied that this is how you cut hair. Not mine. You can't just cut curls by measuring how much you cut. Ever heard of cowlicks? Anyway, Samantha will be back on Monday and I will definitely give her a call about this. I'm very disappointed with my first (and last) visit. The stylist, Sara, was pleasant and fun to talk with. She wasn't familiar with the style I wanted, so I took quite a bit of time to explain and demonstrate the technique. I figured I just didn't know the right term since it's very common; I've been getting it done like this for about 4 years. In fact, I found it on their web site just now: "Short layers with disconnection." I don't style it exactly like that, but the long upper layers in front tapered back and over the short layers or undercut is the basic idea. https://www.supercuts.com/styles/women/short-with-disconnected-layers.html My hair had grown out quite a bit since my last trim ("dog ears" as she called it), and I wanted to maintain the length in front, on one side, as much as possible. I explained that I understood some would come off with creating the "chunky layers" i wanted; I didn't want it blunt. I wanted movement. So I asked her to only take a tiny bit off in the front, and of course the layers might go up an inch or so. Then it should taper up gradually to the back, with the short undercut. The only thing left of that length is two thin pieces. The rest of my hair was thinned out so much--"blended," as she called it--that there's hardly anything left. Just a bunch of wispy hairs 2-4 inches shorter than it was and irregular--this is all around my face, too; it's a short cut. And there's no tapering because most of what was in the front was removed except for a few hairs dangling out here and there. So it's mostly a straight line to the back (really short, above the ear instead of below or at least at the ear lobe) with the few longer wisps in front. It looks like half my hair fell out or got singed or something. And when it's humid, all the little hairs stick out like split ends or as if they're damaged from the highlights I get (but it's not). They don't lay smooth because they're all different lengths, like it was broken from using a too-tight rubberband or something. My hair is baby fine and not very thick to start with--it can't handle the razoring or blending--there's not enough to work with. And I asked her to not use the "razor" or whatever she was using (the side of the scissors, maybe), but she insisted she needed to do that for "blending." I didn't ask for blending; I asked for layers, the kind of layers created by using scissors to cut one section at a time at an angle. But I let it go, hoping for the best (wrong move, I see). I had demonstrated how to do it (very common, very easy, and I assumed she knew how), but she didn't do that. She did it her way and created a complete disaster. My only choice now is to go really short to remove this mess. For such a basic cut, this shouldn't have happened. I stopped by the shop to explain, but apparently management doesn't have a procedure for complaints. Asking repeatedly "what do you want me to do" doesn't help nor does getting whiny and defensive (I *know* she didn't cut layers, but whether she used a razor or something else I'm not sure; she kept saying she didn't use a razor...well, it wasn't cut the way I wanted it cut, regardless of terminology. Maybe "scraped?"). If it were my shop, I'd train stylists to pay close attention when someone complains, really look at the hair, and use it as a learning experience (assuming the customer is reasonable, which I was), and then offer a gift certificate to get the customer to come back. If she would have handled it better, I'd have come back to let her fix it because I liked her; she's a nice person even though she made this mistake. At least she finally agreed that she sees the problem. That helps. But I won't go back. I guess you get what you pay for! read more

Tried this location for the first time. The stylists were all nice and friendly. Showed my stylist a picture for reference on how long/short and style I wanted and she proceeded to cut my hair. It turned out nothing like I wanted and was WAY TOO SHORT! As I was mentioning that I didn't want too much off the top, she cut it off. I also mentioned that I didn't want the back cut straight across and wanted an uneven cut and she cut it straight across.While she did a good job at cutting my hair short and neat, it's not what I asked for. Usually it's the customer that decides how they want their hair cut, not the stylist! A little attention to what the customer wants would go a long way! I won't mention her name because she was nice, but they lost a returning customer. read more
