My stylist (Alyssa) has been my favorite hair stylist for close to a year now. I met her at Sport Clips, and when she transitioned out; I had to follow. The Salon was a bit intimidating at first; only because I'm use to the machine of get in get out; but was pleasantly surprised when Alyssa gave me the time I was hoping for. She paid a lot of attention to detail and worked through some kinks in my hair, done by a hair dresser at Sport Clips a month prior. The pricing is about the same as your chain hair-cuttery but the service is a bit better. The only down side to Modern Wave is it's quite(!) Almost to quiet. I feel like they could turn up 'today's hits' radio station. This would allow the hair dressers to interact with their clients a bit better; with personality :D p.s. Most of the stylists do very well at listening to my requests of barely cutting anything off. Everyone there is very kind as well. However, do not allow Dawn cut your hair. I was extremely specific, like I always am about my hair, and requested the smallet amount to be cut off then to touch up my layers. She hacked off a chunk (solid 6 inches) near my face and didn't even attempt to blend in the layers. It looks absolutely horrible. My hair is curly and grows slowly, so the length is very important to me. Not one of my friends could sugar-coat it and lie to me saying, "it's not so bad". Every one of them told me it was horrible. Kim was thankfully there the next day when I returned to cry/complain, and she did her best at covering up this horrid mess. The heart-felt manager called and we worked out some deals.
