He came by on time as scheduled and quickly got on the roof and diagnosed the situation with cracks in the chimney and even took pictures of the backside of the chimney that we couldn't see from the ground. He gave a very reasonable quote to repair it and, to my surprise, was willing to immediately do the repairs while he was here. He did so my grinding down the cracks and repairing them with mortar. While he was on the ladder I asked him to check the gutter to see how much debris might be in there and he said not too much except for one end. This review is long overdue, but I had to write it anyways. I have an electric fireplace that spreads fumes throughout the living room 10 minutes after turning it on. I know it's not a gas leak due to its odor, but likely a compromised seal in its structure. Greg and his partner came to my townhouse per my appointment about 15 minutes early. They both did a thorough job of inspecting my fireplace and the electrical components beneath it. They probably spent between 30-45 minutes going through it and conferring with eachother. Unfortunately, Greg walked me through his inspection steps and informed me that our townhouse installed a very cheap fireplace system. He further informed me that he would not be able to fix it. So why am I leaving 5 stars? I appreciate their punctuality, thoroughness, and his honesty. Greg informed me that he did not want to make any guesses at the risk of my family. Lastly, and to my surprise, he insisted that I not pay him. From what I gather, many of the chimney sweep services charge you just to inspect your fireplace, regardless of the service they provide.
