Grabbed a take-out sub from Super Subs on a Saturday afternoon. I went with the Cholesterol Killer, which also came with a soda. Quality Super Subs is a small sub shop with a very large selection of choices. I ended up opting for the Cholesterol Killer, which is a steak sub with onion, bacon, and extra cheese. I added on lettuce and jalapenos along with salt, pepper, oil, and vinegar. The sub was good, but it did not leave me clamoring for more. The best thing about the sub was the steak, which was extremely flavorful, especially with the onions that seemed to mix with it perfectly. However, there was very little bacon and they claim it has extra cheese, but there was practically no cheese at all. Also, although partly my fault, they poured on way too much pepper. I sneezed the second I unwrapped my sandwich. Quantity I ordered the larger size and although not gigantic it is more than enough for a hungry individual. I would say if you choose small you may want to supplement it with a side or chips. Value The prices are pretty good, but it made it a much better value when I found out a drink was included. You should expect to pay somewhere in the range of $5 to $15 depending on what you order. Ambiance Super Subs is located in what I would still consider Coral Gables, right on Bird Road. It is a very small and simple shop that is mostly kitchen space. When you enter you are basically already at the register and after ordering they have a few stools around the window for you to sit and wait. Although you could eat inside, it is very cramped and I would suggest you take it to go. The best part about the inside is the wonderful aroma coming from the grill. They had the radio on in the background, but it was mostly drowned out by the large crowd inside. Crowd I arrived right at lunchtime and the place was packed. There were no spots in the parking lot and the line was basically to the door. The issue is many people order a bunch of subs so things move a bit slower than you would hope. Almost every person was getting their food to go and it looked like many of them were planning to bring them to the park or to the beach. Service Everyone working in the shop was extremely friendly and it is clear they are moving as fast as possible to get the food out. However, the set up is tough because it was very unclear to me what the topping and sauce choices were. When taking my order some ingredients were offered, but I had to ask about a bunch of things. I think adding the complete list of choices somewhere that is easily visible (I feel like it is probably somewhere already in the store, but I did not see it) would make it a much easier ordering process. Parking They have a small parking lot adjacent to the store, but it is not nearly big enough for the lunch rush. There was a line of people waiting for spots and it also feels like the staff park in the lot too wasting precious spaces. I ended up parking in the sand across the street, but I really could not tell you if that was allowed. Extra Super Subs is a decent option for a steak sub, but nothing to write home about. It is cheap and filling, but I had issues with the food and the setup leaves much to be desired. It is definitely a major step up from your typical chain sub shop which will just microwave your meat, but it is not to the point that I would see myself becoming a regular. read more

Wow, that was good. I've passed by here a million times and I had always heard that it was good. Finally stopped in, and it was worth it. Awesome sub. Really excellent. Fresh, made to order, and very tasty. I had the barbecue steak with mushrooms and onions. The staff was super friendly and helpful (which is so rare in this town). The woman at the counter could tell it was my first time there, and she offered helpful advice about what was popular, what toppings to add, etc. It was ready quick, and it was super good. I have zero patience! So when I came here the first time and noticed how crowded it was I didn't think I would return. Luckily, logic prevailed and I managed to make another attempt today after work, and boy am I glad I did. The place is very small, and so is the parking. (Note their are two parking lots) they do not have a restroom so make sure you go before. They were very fast and friendly and luckily we arrived at the right time because there were no crowds! We decided to share a Foot Long Steak & Pastrami and it was STACKED! Very flavorful and well seasoned and definitely NOT stingy with the portions. We also tried their seasoned fries, delicious! Price seemed reasonable, I would recommend this sub shop to anyone wanting a gigantic delicious sub! One small complaint was, they have a sign advertising "delicious key pie" so I asked the server if they were any good, which of course he said "yes". This sub shop is super tiny. More of an order and pickup place. It has a few stool seats, bar style.....maybe can sit up to 8 people. Went here with a friend as she said they had the best subs, so of course i had to try it out. What I luved the most about my visit was how friendly they were. The lady which I think is the owner was incredibly nice. She made recommendations about what to get and provided great service. They did really well attending everyone as it is a small place, lots of customers came by and they provided excellent service to all. Now on to the food. I ordered a hot sub the cheesesteak bomb without the barbecue sauce which is pretty much a cheesesteak with mushrooms, onions, green peppers and cheese. I got it on a whole wheat bread (just to make myself feel a little better). It was delicious! We also shared some spiced fries and they were super yummy. Also, I noticed they have fruit punch and a grape drink as options other than soda. I tried both and they were oh so good and very sweet. If I gave them anything less than 5 stars, I'd be lying. THIS PLACE IS GREAT. I haven't had an unsavory sub yet. I go between 3-5 times a month. Some of the people there even know me by name... not sure if that's a good thing lol. You can't go wrong with any of their "Bombs". And their fries are dope. All their subs are made on the spot (hot or cold) using fresh ingredients. The steak bombs are well... "DA BOMB!" and you can make any sub a combo for a very reasonable upcharge. Amazing! I had the bomb cheeseburger and my boyfriend got the cholesterol killer... both were absolutely delicious. Highly recommend provolone on the bomb cheeseburger as did the friendly women who took our order. They grilled it in front of us and the veggies were sautéed nicely. Split the large Steak Bomb sandwich on whole wheat with my girlfriend today. Needless to say, it was the bomb. The nickel-and-dimeing really gets to me. Visit 1: Arrived 25 minutes before close. There is a sign that says "orders made within 15 minutes of closing are to go orders." I order, she hands me my food within a few minutes, and I sit down. She asks me to leave because of the sign. I would have consumed my sandwich way before they closed, but no problem, I took it to go. Visit 2: I ordered a sub, and I did not specify a size, nor they did they ask me. A large was made and I was charged for a large. Fine, no big deal. I maybe should have insisted on small instead of expecting them to ask. Visit 3: I ordered a steak and onions sub, and asked them to add cherry peppers, my usual order. This time, I was charged for a steak bomb, which was to include mushrooms, bbq sauce, green peppers, and onions. When I asked, because I had not been charged this way before, the rude cashier couldn't articulate herself properly and got frustrated. Super subs isnt any ordinary sub place. Small place and nice to eat overlooking 40th street. I ordered a chicken Ceaser sub and upgraded to a large for just a dollar.
