I was staying in Northridge for the weekend and was looking for a massage place that stayed open late. Super Relax popped up and they took me in for a last minute massage right before closing time. They were honest and told me they only had enough time for a 30 min massage and I took that chance. They had a great price and since I usually do hour minimum massages and it was late I wasn't expecting much, but I received way better service than I expected! I didn't catch his name but it was the man who was at the front that did my massage. His hands were strong and helped relax my tense shoulders, and I wasn't expecting but received a hot stone massage after the regular massage. I've been coming here for a few years and have had some very good massages, but today was not one of them. The woman, Wendy, who was massaging me came in and started to massage me and then walked out and was gone for 5 minutes or so. Then she came back in and started to massage me and stopped and walked back out for another few minutes and then came back rubbed my back for about another minute and walked back out AGAIN!! It was supposed to be a 90 minute massage but only about 45-50 minutes at most. I made sure to tell the man, Johnny at the front but he said he didn't hear me when I said 90 minutes. I made sure I told him twice on the phone when making the appointment and again when we walked in because they messed up with the time before. I left feeling worse. I went here for the first time. The woman who massaged me was weird and unprofessional. First, off.. my face is sensitive and I easily get break outs. Went there to get a 60 min full body massage told the lady giving me the massage to stop after 30 min because all I heard the entire time was the music playing, customers opening the front door to come in, staff talking across the room and from one massage room to the next because the rooms are separated by curtains, I heard the customer in the room next to me talking to the lady giving her a massage the whole time. First they soak your feet in water while give you a shoulder massage as you're sitting on the chair. You then lay down on a flat "bed" where they proceed to give you a back massage, thigh massage, feet massage, etc. I fell asleep during the feet massage (finally!) and woke up somewhat refreshed because of my mini nap. The people getting massages there did not make me feel uncomfortable at all. It was somewhat quiet, but of course with the price you're paying there's bound to be some talking amongst the technicians. Would I come back? I honestly probably wouldn't because it's more of a come and leave kind of place. I would prefer to spend extra money at a Burke Williams or a spa so I can just relax after my massage. Also I felt that the massage wasn't super amazing, though I did feel rested (not well rested) after it. I feel that these technicians are not certified (therefore why it's so cheap). I understand why the technicians there get mad at people who give them $5 tip. The service is $20 but it's a FULL ONE HOUR long service. Even though they call it a foot massage, it really is a full body massage for only $20 an hour. I recall my first time here being a good experience, although I was surprised when my massage therapist started pulling down my shirt and unhooking my bra. It was recommended by a friend and I even ran into my dentist here too. Tom has a firm hand and deeper massage which my wife likes. I like more of a medium massage which Mary is great at. She will ask along the way if it's good and you can always tell her if it needs to be harder. I bring my mom once a week when she visits too. I was there last Monday and John the owner wasn't. While there, I heard a group come in and they were regulars, so that speaks well of the place. I'm going again tonight and John answered so he was was probably out last weekend. No change in ownership as someone previously stated. There are 2 rates and I believe this was since April of this year. $25 for an hour or $35 for 90 mins. Hot stones are included. I highly recommend this place, nice people and yeah, they aren't proficient in English, but people are trying to make a living. From the get go I want to tell you I have removed at least 1 star, maybe 3 for me having to put my face and breath on some fabric that can absorb dust, vapors and anything else someone breathes into the hole you put your face to. I understand your skin is on a paper towel, but you are breathing everything a bunch of people were breathing, sneezing, coughing into . All those germs cannot get cleaned off with a spray of some other chemical now you have to breathe as well. They need to use impervious material like vinyl, or something so it can be wiped clean regularly at each client. I wont go back for this reason. They DON'T use massage tables. They are makeshift and the above issue makes them hazardous in my opinion. So... They are open to 10:30pm including Sundays. I went in at 9 as a walk to see if a masseuse was available. The guy at the desk said I was lucky as they had a cancellation (ya right, as they had a few beds empty with workers sitting in back). So a few minutes later I sat on the towels. With shorts no shirt. And feet in hot water. There is no place you can put your wallet or keys really. Just bring exact dollars needed and your single car key if you want to go. The bucket my feet were put in had the hard nipples that bothered my feet a bit, but this was ok as I think it helps with circulation and such. Then a brief upper back massage by a guy who speaks ZERO English. I was ok that it was a guy, as some smaller women, or men for that matter, cannot leverage to get deep in tissue. Anyway, he was not happy that I wanted 1 hr (which they want paid UPFRONT),vs 30min massage. I would have walked out had I known service drops so bad towards closing hours, but I needed the massage as my upper mid back was in pain, which I tried to tell him and I don't think he got it,as he didn't concentrate any attention to it. I also told him not to do my lower back, which he still did as he didn't understand. This can be dangerous. So instead of having a night shift, the guy working on me was able to communicate numbers, so he communicated that he worked from 10am to 10pm! Wow, way overworked for a masseuse. No wonder he couldn't do a good job. I don't blame him. I'd give a ZERO star rating for me needing to put my face in a bunch of fabric and breath all the germs others have left into the hole. Which reminded me why I don't go any more. Sure you have a thin napkin for skin contact, but that area being full of other people coughing in snorting or sneezing, and you sucking that immediate air....that is not sanitary. Super rude, super unprofessional and super dirty. I walked in today and asked if they had time to see me today for a massage. The guy stared back at me awkwardly as if he did not understand what I was there for. He then said ok, like he was doing me some sort of favor and without really exchanging more than two words walked me to the back. The gentleman who worked on me was very nice, and attentive. I can't say the massage was the best but it certainly wasn't the worst. The problem is that the guy kept sneezing the entire time and right before working on my head started to blow into a napkin and proceeded to massage my face. I didn't want to be rude and make the guy feel bad so I endured it although I was completely grossed out. I think he must of felt that I was concerned with this and kept apologizing. It was not allergies...the man was congested. Anyway, I work in a clinic and do everything I can to avoid catching anything from our patients. When he went to work on my back I couldn't help but notice how dirty those floors are. Then, I started thinking of the bed I was laying on which is made of fabric and there is no way of cleaning in between clients. Definitely not sanitary. It smelled dirty and old. Let's go back to the guy at the front who identifies himself as the manager. He is unfriendly, unprofessional and lacks personality. When my massage finalized I proceeded to ask if I can leave a tip ( since I had a gift certificate ) and he said that he had to charge me an extra $1. I told him that I didn't have cash but I didn't want to pay that extra $1 that next time bc I have 4 visits remaining I would come prepared with cash. He said no. He said that there's a bank a block away where I can withdraw cash. I told him that would be an inconvenience for me and that if he can explain to masseuse why I was only leaving him a couple of dollars cash ( one bc the guy spoke no English and two bc I was embarrassed to leave him a couple dollars). THE MANAGER now said " that's between you and him." His name (Manager) is jung or Jon but that doesn't matter. Same guy that's there every day. The one that never smiles. The one that doesn't greet you or acknowledge you. End of story... I went to rite aid...bought something..sure I spent more money but it's the principle of the matter... went back gave it to the guy who massaged me. The manager was rude and upset when I told him I would be writing this review. He said he does not need to give me his name. Okaaaayyy...I will definitely be following up with the hire ups and escalating my concerns. Some extra extra... parking never really seems to be an issue. They use hot stones on you and for the most part have availability for last minute walk ins. I think if they improved on their customer service and hired better management I would rate this place an overall 3 for my manyyyyy visits to this facility.
