I heard some great reviews about this place, lots of the reviewers being my family. I was very excited to finally try it and I really wanted to love it but it fell really short of the yelp glory. I likely won't return. Sorry! I ordered the whole chicken meal with a side of fries. The chicken: 1 star for it being moist. The skin had of the chicken had lots of color from the seasonings BUT I couldn't really taste the seasonings on it. The chicken itself completelylacked flavor. I even dipped the chicken in the lemon garlic oil at the bottom and even that was flavorless. Rice and Beans: no flavor here at all. Fries: 1 star for fries. This was about the best item I ordered. Tried this place for the first time this morning. They open at 8am and they already had tons of patrons at 8:30am... on a Saturday. I ordered the breakfast burrito. It was bomb! Perfect quantities of ingredients, super flavorful spicy salsa, very authentic tortilla. Delicious horchata too. The staff was extremely nice as well. We ordered the whole chicken meal for a family of three. Our take is the quality was perfect, the ratio was perfect for three. As soon as we walked in, the staff were friendly & welcoming. The place is super cute, patio seating is spacious & perfect for brunch or dinner. Everything from the garlic chicken to the salsa, rice, beans and tortillas tasted fresh and made from scratch. This is a family favorite, we will be back. We ate it so fast without leaving any leftovers. Super Pollo is what El Pollo Loco should strive to be. We love this place, our picky eater could not get enough. We thought it would be closed on a Sunday evening but was open & had fresh chicken fired up on the grill, it smelled delectable. I love this place. Their food is fresh. My favorite and their claim to fame is the garlic butter fire roasted chicken. It's simply one of the best chickens I've had. I always get it. Their tacos and burritos are also good but I always go back to the chicken with rice and beans. read more

Breakfast Review only: Before work. I was hungry. I didn't get to eat breakfast at home. I see a chicken dressed in super hero outfit. Well... He rescued my hunger! I got the breakfast omelette with mechaca meat (steak) with hash browns. I ordered at 1020am and I got my food at 1030. Not bad. Not enough seating in this food joint but that's okay. I found a small table inside. I heard people at the counter asking for their green salsa. Ummmm... It might be their popular salsa flavor. So I tried the red that came with my meal. Definitely mild and had a tang to it. I went to the counter and I asked for some green salsa. ;) Yes. It was better and has a better spicey kicked to it. The omelette was great! Alot of steak and veggies packed in! The super chicken saved me! Totally missed my lunch for work today. Glad I ate before I went to work. ;) Definitely coming back to try their chicken! read more

I like to take the whole experience in consideration when rating places, the chicken is good and it's the only reason why im giving this restaurant three stars. However, they need to upgrade their phone and customer service skills. For the most part the staff is nice but there has been a couple of times I've called in to make an order ahead and the girl who answers has rudely greeted and also blamed me for not being able to hear her. Once there, no one really makes you feel welcome...anyway chicken's good therefore I'll continue going here. read more

Great discovery while we were on our way home from the beach. Soon as I got out of my car I was hit with this amazing garlicky aroma in the air and it was coming from our dinner destination. Same basic menu as other typical Mexican rotisserie along with a breakfast menu. Ordered their whole chicken super combo and was asked if I wanted it with their special lemon-butter-garlic sauce...SO AMAZING and the source of that mouth watering aroma in the parking lot. Interesting place. We went here because it's was practically in my daughter's neighborhood. We, my daughter, wife and me, went for a late lunch. It's a very small restaurant in an industrial section of Costa Mesa near Hoag Hospital. My wife and daughter both ordered the Peruvian style chicken but I ordered the grilled fish burritos to go. The service was excellent but we had to wait a while for the grilled fish but the dishes were well prepared and all and all very happy with the food read more

Some of the best Mexican food in Costa Mesa. I love the great flavors of the chicken, especially the quesadilla and burrito. However, my friend was upset because they wouldn't give him salsa with his chicken. Apparently, they believe the chicken does not "go with" the salsa, so they do not include it. Awesome chicken burrito. Ordered the super chicken burrito for pick up and as promised, it came out about 10-15 minutes after I called it in. The cashier was a nice young woman. The burrito was so so so good, everything tasted freshly made, and didn't give me that slightly heavy, tired feeling I usually get from other burrito spots. We got whole chicken combo. Chicken was tender and tasty(may need a little bit more salt) Everything was good except for the sider order rice which made 3 people sick(I got very sick with vomiting). I would suggest avoiding the rice unless you have the good stomach for it. I would also suggest that the owner should put in more real Guac in the Guac and chips because the Guac tasted very blend and pasty. read more

We've been coming to Super Pollo for years now. It's probably THE BEST chicken you can get in Southern CA. The chicken is marinated and topped with garlic butter (butter with chinks of chopped garlic) and flame broiled right in front you. You'll fully understand Super Pollo right when you walk inside and get a waft of the delicious chicken cooking. They sell burritos, tacos, nachos, etc but it's the chicken combos you wanna eat (whole, half or quarter combo) the combo is accompanied by fresh pico de gallo, warm flour tortillas, rice, beans and a nice spicy salsa. Make sure you ask for a side if garlic butter. I spread the garlic butter on the tortilla then add chubks of chicken, some rice and pico de gallo and devour the mini burrito. If you haven't tried Super Pollo yet then get on it and visit them!!! read more

This review is about customer service. Food is good and business must be booming, because they obviously could care less about their service. Called in an order for a breakfast burrito at 830 am and was told it would be ready in 15-20 minutes. As I have, plenty of orders before, I realized that they get busy so I gave it some more time and drove down to pick it up at 9:10 am (40 minutes later). Well, my order was not ready. In fact they hadn't even started it. Place was dead and did not seem at all busy. In fact, the cook was just standing around. When asked why my burrito was not cooked, I was given some lame excuse (no apology). Now, I'm pretty patient and I've given them the benefit of the doubt when I've called in orders before, but this has now happened to me a few times and I don't have time to stand around for you to "now" make my order. HENCE WHY I "CALLED" IN AN ORDER. Worst part is, that they seemed to care less when I voiced my complaint to them face to face. Again (I guess with Super Pollo) if the food is good who cares if the service isn't? Well, I'm big on customer service (I am in the customer service industry) and could care less about the food if the people working there don't care about their patrons. I work a couple blocks away from this location and would eat here regularly... Unfortunately for them, not any more. I hope they realize that good food isn't everything. read more
