Aside from the parking being more chaotic than usual the most disappointing part was the fresh bakery section. They must hire an extremely experienced pastry chef for the level of cakes and cheesecakes they're trying to create. The filling in the tarts were "off" .. the cheesecake flavors and consistency wasn't tasty at all. The cake was blah and didn't taste like the flavor it was intended to taste like. Compared with other restaurants and retailers in the area, where we have consistently encountered exceptionally friendly and welcoming customer service, Woodman's seems to fall noticeably short. On each of our shopping visits, employees have generally failed to greet or acknowledge us, even when we approach them for assistance. When we do ask for help, their responses often come across as curt, dismissive, and as though helping a customer is an inconvenience. For a company that takes pride in being employee-owned, this is particularly disappointing. One would hope that employee ownership would foster a greater sense of pride, engagement, and commitment to the customer experience, along with a shared interest in the store's success. Woodman's has a great concept and offers shoppers a lot of potential value. However, the lack of warmth and welcoming customer service creates an uninviting atmosphere that detracts from the overall shopping experience. We wanted to share this feedback because we would genuinely like to see Woodman's live up to its reputation and become a store we enjoy visiting regularly. A simple greeting, a friendly attitude, and a willingness to assist customers would go a long way toward making shoppers feel welcome and appreciated.

My number was never called. When I asked why they weren't following the number system, the employee insisted she had called my number, which she clearly had not. She continued serving another customer, and then yet another person without a number was served ahead of me. When I asked, "What's going on? I have a number and I've been waiting," I was simply ignored while they continued helping other people. I have been a customer of Garden Fresh for over 25 years, and I have never experienced service this poor. I normally don't leave negative reviews, but this is not an isolated incident. I've noticed the service getting progressively worse.

As I looked around more, I saw a 5 pound bag for .99 on sale. I also picked up some freeze dried strawberries. With two things in my hand, I headed over to the self checkout. It was a looonnng line. I looked over to the regular checkout and there plenty of lanes open width 1-2 people each. I went to one lane and was out in a flash. I like Jewel cause sales and service. Sales are great and if you have the app, it's easy to use and you can get additional coupons.

This kept the lines down. The one cashier that was available seemed very incompetent and lazy at his job. This was on 9/12/26. I clipped coupons and this cashier didn't take all of my coupons. That is why I prefer using a self checkout, at least I can see all of my discounts. 2 out of 5 mostly due to the lazy cashier.

It was a privilege to be able to attend because my father was working for a company that was a primary vendor supplying all the grocery stores. What has been great about this family run company and still family owned is the story behind how it got started. If you do some research about Jose and how he came to this country and built this business from nothing and if you truly love small local businesses, and if you truly want to support the American dream of a Mexican immigrant, this is a place to shop. I have loved seeing it go from a grocery store to having its full bakery and eat in restaurant section with prepared foods as well. They are stronger now than ever. I have had many occasions where I have to keep my hand on my card so it can read it properly. It's not fun when an employee has come help me out with simple task of completing a transaction. I do use the app a bit more and it's nice to be able to use the qr code to connect to my account to pay. I have held out hope that they will have apple pay at some point, but they have yet to do so. As it is the closest place to get groceries, this store is a convenient location. However, I will continue to have a preference for Target across the street.

Some losers/weirdos had thrown food on it. It was in my door handle and on my driver's side windshield. It creeped me out because I felt watched since I was only away from my car for a short amount of time. I go to customer service and ask if the cameras captured what happened - the attendant told me, "I don't know, fill out a police report". She said the same answer when I asked if she could tell me if my car was even on camera or not for the ordeal. I get there a processes in place but you can't tell me whether or not my car vandalism was captured on camera? The staff was not helpful - I will not be returning.

According to Eric, the store is now set to close on August 8, moving up from the original closing date of August 22. That's just a month away! He mentioned that Kroger is swapping the closing date of this location with the one in Buffalo Grove. Eric assured me that he'll still have a job with the company, but his current commute is just one minute, and now, he doesn't yet know where he'll be reassigned. Even before hearing that the store would be closing two weeks earlier than expected, I was already feeling nostalgic. I've shopped at this Mariano's for over 10 years. It's huge, clean, and rarely overcrowded--maybe that's part of what hurt it from a business perspective. I've taken a few photos to help remember it, and I know I'll miss this place a lot.

For me, I appreciate this versus some other grocerers where figuring out the final price is quite a bit of a chore, and you have a good chance of overpaying if you don't follow every single rule for discounts. Another thing is that this store is well labeled, bright, and logically arranged. I know exactly where to look for everything and I appreciate how easy it is to easily find standard and more premium options. For someone who doesn't know when he'll be eating out or in on any given day, Wild Fork is great because it allows me to stock up on high quality frozen options so I can eat healthy and deliciously any day of the week. For me, this is the only other store other than Trader Joes where I'll stock up on lots of different frozen items for meals. The items are consistently frozen well, sealed well, and have a good taste and texture. The price is also very reasonable, being particularly competitive on most standard meat and seafood options. You'll also find items like marinated chicken quarters and hot pot meat that's frozen here, something you may not find easily in the area outside of specialty stores. Parking is also relatively easy here, once you understand how to get in off the main road and the checkout process is fairly quick. The employees are also friendly and helpful if you need help finding things. Overall, a great addition to supplement my grocery shopping when I need high quality frozen food.

There were a couple other employees that helped me but their name escapes me, except for MATT V. After going through surgery for my back problems, MATT V helped me find a good scooter, when most of them are never charged nor replaced at the store. Another employee called Sarah then helped me put my heavy groceries away in my car! Great customer service on employee part always. However, the management is not so great and when the water fountain broke down in 2025 summer they NEVER fixed it until forced to by litigation from the health department. They also send people outside in extreme weather and that could've caused major health problems. Also, they GOBBLE GOBBLE too much and it hurts my ears. After that they start going GINGLE GINGLE, and that is really annoying I must admit! I still donate anyways, but please make it go away next holidays for a better shopping experience.
