Not sure why they insist on selling months-old fruit even in discount section, it's not a great look - yes, some can save, but at what cost? The vegetable section is good; things are trimmed, usually the leaves are fairly fresh. The noodle section is also excellent, with a variety of dried noodles from various cuisines. The sliced meats are mostly too fatty; need to select for better trims (for example for hot pot). The service and help is still difficult though; the workers aren't particularly helpful so you'll need to go through and find stuff yourself.

Not sure what all the hype is about for this place! We ordered Thai fried rice, green curry and…read morefish cakes. Fish cakes were small and perfectly uniform - almost like they were frozen rather than prepared on site. Green curry had some spice but was mostly one note, there just wasn't much depth of flavor. Vegetables were all cut in huge hunks - both dishes had giant pieces of red bell peppers and onions. Fried rice was pretty bland and barely had any Chinese broccoli in it. Ambiance was bare bones - you order at the counter and they bring you your food and plastic side plates. Half the tables were stacked with boxes and bags of takeout orders. To top it off there's no bathroom, we were told to use the bathroom at another local business. If I'm gonna spend $60 somewhere, I expect to be able to wash my hands before eating and use the restroom. Perhaps there are some specialty dishes that we didn't try but this was my 2nd time ordering from here (I got take out once before) and both times the food was pretty bland. A truly underwhelming experience - especially when there are so many better restaurants in the area.

I have been a loyal customer of Bazaar/Baza supermarkets for over 20 years. Much of my shopping,…read moreand that of my neighbors and guests whom I usually invite to join me, happens there because their selection complements what I get from major US chains. For years, any rare issues were resolved quickly and politely. Recently, I bought seven 1-quart containers of freshly cooked soups as part of my purchase. One container of kharcho had almost no meat. This had happened before in another store of that chain (in Newton), and I received a replacement after showing the receipt. This time, the manager was not friendly. When I asked for a replacement or refund, she looked at me and said, "Male, why do you think I will honor your request?" When I mentioned the store's reputation, she laughed in my face. She then claimed I should have come sooner and that she would need to review hours of video footage to verify the cook's mistake -- all for a $5.94 item (after discount). Her attitude was exactly like that of the old Soviet stores: "The customer is always wrong." This is unacceptable. I feel no desire to shop at this location anymore. I prefer places that care about their reputation.

I need to try the curry katsu next time because I see so many people ordering those. Sometimes they have food demonstrations from Japan and they are always so nice!
