2 days after my massage with Bunny
    Gayle M.

Recommend by a friend. Came out with bruises all over my arms. I felt and looked like I was beaten up. I don't bruise easily so to have these bruises meant Bunny went too hard on my arms. I kept on saying too tender and to lighten her pressure and removing my arms but she kept going.

They provide good massage but it's not consistent and the staff person is very rude and unprofessional.

Very sad to report that Happy Foot Spa now requires a minimum $10 tip for their massage.

Peter does a great job in loosening my tense upper back and he does pressure points on my feet that I've never experienced in other foot spas before!

I treated myself to a 90 min massage with Mari. I came in a stressed mama getting ready for the holidays to blissed out, relaxed and rejuvenated in my soul. I am so grateful for this local gem. Don't be fooled by the strip mall- it hides a little oasis!

UPDATE: Ronald Aleteanu, one of the owners, reached out to me via comment on here. He said "reach…read moreout directly so it can be resolved at the level it should have been", which is odd, because he was the one that initially sent me the business' refund policy when I asked for a refund and rejected my refund in the first place. It just feels like he is wanting to publicly look like he is addressing the situation properly. I did end up reaching out again today, per his request, and Elena Aleteanu, the other owner, has not changed her stance. She is telling me that they can't do anything on their end and that I need to reach out to Square. Square is telling me that they can't do anything on their end and that the business needs to initiate the refund. So, I reached out to Ronald again directly, and he did not respond. In addition, he got my Google review deleted and is trying to get this one deleted as well, but thankfully Yelp is a lot better about keeping honest reviews. I also forgot to note that the service was booked for two hours total, as a side by side massage. Elena tried to SCAM my sister and her partner by offering each a 1 hour service, one at a time (because of being understaffed), even though it is a two hour service. I paid $400 for the massages, so she's was trying to tell my sister that each service (which included a full massage and facial) of $200 was for one hour only, which is a lie. ORIGINAL POST: AVOID California Skin Care & Day Spa in Newark I prepaid for a service (it was a gift), received a confirmation reminder the day before, and made arrangements for my sister and her partner who are visiting from out of town. I even paid for an Uber to get them there. They arrived on time and the place was closed. No staff, no setup, nothing. They waited about 40 minutes, while I tried calling and messaging every available number. Eventually Ronald Aleteanu, one of the owners, responded on WhatsApp , but that did not change the situation and the service still was not provided. Between the Uber and waiting, this ended up wasting about 2 hours of their time (& money for the Uber), and they left with nothing. After all of that, Elena Aleteanu (who eventually came) claimed she had called and left a message (and at one point claimed that she talked to someone - a complete lie). I never received any call or voicemail, and I confirmed that the number I entered was correct. Their explanation just does not add up, especially since they had no problem sending a reminder the day before. What is most frustrating is that they still refused to issue a refund for a service they never provided. Instead, they only offered store credit, which is completely unreasonable. I would strongly recommend avoiding this place. I also posted this on NextDoor and numerous people replied noting that the same thing happened to them. So this is not an isolated incident. I've posted those screenshots here.

Review for Watercourse Way Bath House Spa…read more A peaceful oasis in the middle of Palo Alto that works for just about any occasion. This is a long overdue review. I have been to Watercourse Way by myself, with girlfriends, and with boyfriends--and it has been solid every single time. Whether you're looking for quiet alone time, a girls' day, or a relaxing couples experience, this place truly has something for everyone. What makes Watercourse Way special is the privacy and flexibility. The private rooms are beautiful and thoughtfully designed. Each one typically includes a hot tub, cold plunge, shower, and a comfortable resting area with clean towels and linens. It feels like your own little retreat tucked away from the world. They also offer larger rooms that are perfect for sharing with friends--soaking, chatting, and maybe adding a massage to the experience. The massage services are excellent, and you can book them individually, as a couple, or as part of a group visit. The staff makes the whole process easy and welcoming. A few practical notes: * Parking can be a little tricky right near the entrance * I usually park at the Whole Foods on Homer Avenue and walk a block or two--it's simple and feels very safe * The facility is consistently clean, well-maintained, and professionally run * Prices are reasonable for the level of privacy and service you receive What I appreciate most about Watercourse Way is how it encourages you to slow down. It's the kind of place that reminds you to take care of yourself, breathe, and reset. Life is short. Stress is unavoidable. You can't control other people--but you can control how you respond. So go soak. Get a massage. Unwind. Make it part of your routine. You'll leave calmer than when you arrived--and that alone makes it worth it.

Review for Immersion Spa ‍…read more I absolutely loved this place, and to this day, I still miss it. When I lived in the Bay Area, I was a faithful and loyal customer at Immersion. It became one of my favorite self-care rituals. I would bring family and friends, and I went regularly--about once every quarter. It was something I always looked forward to. There is currently no Korean spa in Charlotte, North Carolina, where I live now, and the closest option is in Atlanta. So yes... boo-hoo. Nothing quite compares to this experience. What made Immersion special was the sense of freedom and relaxation the moment you walked through the door. The spa is thoughtfully organized, very clean, and beautifully maintained. You store your belongings in secure lockers, receive a waterproof wristband, and then the entire experience begins. I always arrived at least 90 minutes before my massage so I could fully enjoy the amenities. That extra time was part of the magic. My favorite features included: * The hot tub and invigorating cold plunge * The wet sauna and dry sauna * The gentle, calming warmth of the Himalayan salt room * Complimentary roasted tea and water * High-quality bath and shower products in the women's area * A peaceful, well-run environment with clear structure and cleanliness standards Everything felt intentional and relaxing. My go-to service was always the Fusion massage, which blends shiatsu and deep tissue techniques using organic coconut oil. The therapists were incredibly skilled and intuitive--they knew exactly how to work out tension and restore balance. Some of the best massages I've ever had were here. Over the years, prices have increased slightly--as they have everywhere. I remember paying around $100 before COVID, and later seeing it closer to $130. Even so, the value of the experience made it worth every dollar. I was there hook, line, and sinker. A few practical notes for future guests: * Parking is limited and shared with neighboring businesses (including Kumon), so timing matters * The spa has separate men's and women's areas * No outside shoes are allowed inside the spa * Clothing is optional in designated areas, which is standard for Korean spa culture * Plan to arrive early to fully enjoy the amenities before your service One service I personally never tried was the traditional Korean body scrub. I watched others experience it, and while many people love it, it looked a little too intense for my taste. That said, the massages and spa amenities are absolutely exceptional. If you're considering a membership, it's worth exploring. This is the kind of place that becomes part of your routine once you experience it. I still haven't found anything in the Southeast that truly matches the level of service, atmosphere, and overall experience of Immersion. I keep looking--but this one set the bar very high. Treat yourself. You deserve it.
