New Salon and Scalp Spa..BLACK CAB SALON AND SPA just recently open last week.They said grand opening will be in 7 days. They have brand new salon and spa products and equipments. They offer hair cut,hair color,hair spa and scalp spa and also some selected body spa treatments. The treatment and spa rooms looks so relaxing. I had a simple layer haircut today with hairstylist named ROCK.He is amazing and such a professional.He respects and listen to my hair needs and preferences. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. My sister took me here for my birthday spa treatment! We got the herbal hair treatment and it was amazing. We were led into a room where we changed our tops. We laid in a massage chair which gave a full body massage while we got our heads treated. I felt so relaxed and pampered. There were a lot of things done to my hair that I'm not unsure of but I have a photo of the services. We also got treated to a drink and snacks after which was a nice touch. We got to relax in our room before going out which was nice. We enjoyed our time here! read more

Second time here, and I got to try the 100 mins herb scalp care. I was brought into the room that had a very soothing lighting and a slight fragrance. The bed was heated and had the herb vapor coming from below. The massage, the rinse and the heated bed were all super soothing and relaxing. After the treatment, they also serve me a beverage, and some small snacks. It was a nice touch. i was not rushed to leave or to pay, and I appreciate that. Only one thing, I choose the treatment that was supposed to help with my sleep too. But I was so refreshed after the treatment, that I was not sleepy when it was bed time. Well, I went there at early evening - I guess I would have to get the treatment early in the day next time to see if it can help with my sleep. read more

This place is a gem. Service is so generous, kind, and fairly priced. The ambiance is welcoming, and caring. I was looking for a haircut by a female but unfortunately they do not have a private setting for Hijabi haircut. However , they have a private setting for scalp care . It was AMAZING! Herbal Chinese prep that smell so natural and great. The setting is clean and nice, the scalp massage is surreal for a tired mom They offered water and after treatment snack. I wanted to write this review to ensure Black Cab stays in service with good and service minded professionals. I have opted for multiple services with Black cab on various occasions- like hair cut , hair color , hair spa and boys hair cut too. The services I took with Noah were excellent. However, last time when I went for color and trim I had a very bad experience. The problem started with my request for Noah, as he did a fabulous job with my layer cut and he understood what I wanted for cut. They gave me some body else ( Rock) when I asked for Noah they acted as if they didn't understand who I wanted. I trusted and went forward with him, with color and refresh of layers. Now in between he shows me some Milbon hair product for conditions and says the bottle is for 99 yuan. I said I don't want it and yet he conditions my hair. Coming to the hair trim , he spoiled my perfectly good even laters at the back and he is not able to frame the face with layers. I stop him in between and ask for gradual / butterfly layers he says he know what he is doing. And it is not what I asked for. After finishing the service he asks me to pay $99 for the conditioner and I said I told him I didn't want it . He says I didn't understand it and makes me pay $99 for it. I asked for manager he says it's late they are not here. Guess what the conditioner or the treatment didn't even last a wash. He accommodated my son's haircut in the last min and did a good job. But my hair service was really pathetic and cut and treatment was / is very bad. I don't think I will go back again. For the dubious handling of my requests & payments. read more

From the attentive phone conversation, to the cheerful greeting, my initial reaction to this salon was positive. When I met Mia, my treatment technician, she clearly and patiently explained all questions and concerns. This was my first scalp treatment EVER, and she guided me every step of the way. You can select different types of essential oils to help you relax (or whatever you're trying to achieve) during the treatment. Mia also recommended me a type of scalp treatment plan suited for my scalp's specific needs. After 90 min, my scalp and hair was squeaky clean, light and airy. I really enjoyed my experience from beginning to finish! I'd like to take my kiddo here to treat and cleanse her scalp too soon !! read more

This place is a great experience for head spas. The wife and I have gotten my haircuts and spas here and the service is wonderful. Every time we swing by and I have to wait for my wife to be done with her spa, they always give out snacks and hot tea while I wait. They're mainly Chinese speakers, but they use translation apps to help customers get over language barriers. Very chill atmosphere too so it's nice and comfy when you got to wait for your significant other. Definitely recommend going. read more

Thank you Rock for your amazing work! I got the Milbon hair treatment a few days ago and my hair is still soft and silky. I also wanted to say thank you to Jimmy for being my translator. I appreciate you for being so considerate by taking the time to listen to my needs on my hair cut preferences. I haven't had my hair done in a few years and this place was my salvation. First of all the place was very clean and atmosphere was relaxing with dark colors it was cute. Nice set up for single or couples/groups. My scalp spa was great. She really got all my tensions spot on my head. This was such a good spa experience. My lady was concerned because of her speaking English but I was able to understand and communicate fine with her, she was very kind. They use light treatment for my scalp and also gave me a quick arms, neck and shoulders massage. I was walking on clouds after definitely going back! I also scheduled to get lymphatic massage tomorrow. read more

Love this place cause I came with my daughter to do head detox and it was such a great experience that I came back few day later to do the Japanese hair treate. It was super great. If they do not have to pay the extra percentage to the credit card company, then they do not charge you for it. Wow! I love that when I pay for a 90 minute massage, I actually get a full 90 minutes of massage, or even a little more some times. They are very thorough and want you to feel good. The foot massage was thorough, attention paid to each individual toe and a rolling tool used to massage the bottom of my feet, with good pressure as well. However, the repetitive stroking of my lower legs was not as effective as other parts of the massage. At least it brought some relief to my calf pain from a charley horse earlier in the day. Quite a bit of chatter (in Chinese) going on in the shared room consisting of 6-8 massage beds (available for customers getting the clothed foot massage or treatments not requiring a private room), so it's not the most peaceful experience. But I didn't mind as they charged an affordable price and the session left me feeling rejuvenated in the end. Friendly staff too. It was easy to make an appointment via phone call a couple days in advance, and I was served right away at arrival (they were ready to get started even before my original appointment time).

I spent $150 ($50 deposit, $100 day of service) for gel nails that haven't even lasted as long as regular polish. Not to mention, when I arrived there were no instructions on how to get into the building. No signage. No way to communicate with her. I almost left until she texted me 7 minutes after the scheduled appointment time. I'm pregnant and I was out waiting in the rain as I had taken a Lyft there. I want my money back! Wonderful Experience at Hair Black Cab Salon I recently visited Hair Black Cab for the first time to get a haircut for my son, who is on the spectrum. Haircuts can be a challenge for him, but since he's been more cooperative lately, we decided to try this new salon located nearby in the Asian complex. This complex has a variety of Asian restaurants and shops, and the salon is run by a kind group of Chinese staff. I don't remember the stylist's name, but I'll leave a photo in the review - he was incredibly patient, kind, and entertaining with my son. Even though they don't speak much English, communication was not a problem at all, as they used a translator app on their phone, which worked perfectly. As for the haircut, I showed them a photo from another customer's review, and they did an excellent job of replicating it for my son. They were gentle and friendly throughout, which really put my mind at ease. The overall experience was fantastic, and they even gave my son a cute little goodie bag at the end! In addition to haircuts, they offer a range of services including hair spa, body spa, herbal hair treatments, eye treatments, and more. The salon is well-maintained with a bright, neutral-colored ambiance that felt really welcoming. Black Cab in Newark! The store is hard to miss with its all-black decor--walls, bedsheets, even the toilet! It's a bold and unique vibe that drew me in. The Yao Bath was a 70-minute experience with multiple soaks, a light massage, and a hot herbal compress. It was super relaxing, and I felt the stress melt away as I broke into a sweat. They also provide thoughtful touches like disposable underwear, slippers, and plastic sheets for hygiene, plus delicious ginger tea and snacks! She made some small talk with me while she was doing my eyebrows, which helped make the whole thing go by quickly. I was a bit awkward when she would ask me to hold my eyelid a certain way, but she said that it was understandable since this was my first time. Overall, I was also pleased with how my eyebrows turned out ^_^ it was also very inexpensive which is a plus for how it turned out. I will definitely be coming back to Hair Express for not only getting my hair cuts, but also for getting my eyebrows done!

After my second appointment, I experienced significant eye pain and irritation during and after the service. The discomfort lasted for quite a while after I went home, and the salon staff even provided me with artificial tears before I left. I have been doing lash extensions for years and had never experienced this level of discomfort before. Because of this experience, I no longer felt comfortable continuing the remaining sessions. I was not asking for a full refund. I specifically offered a compromise: the salon could charge me the regular full price ($108 each) for the two completed sessions and refund the unused remaining balance from the package. However, this request was refused unless I obtained medical documentation proving a severe glue allergy. What disappointed me most was the aftercare handling and the lack of clear policy disclosure at the time of purchase. During the discussion, the salon's explanations repeatedly changed regarding refunds, transfers, and what conditions would qualify for cancellation. Certain "policies" were only brought up after I requested a refund. I also did not feel it was reasonable to require a customer to continue risking additional eye irritation or pay out-of-pocket medical expenses just to qualify for a partial refund for unused services. To be fair, the salon did offer alternatives such as changing lash technicians, transferring services, or complimentary sessions.
