(i guess no hair washing, but ngl at $50 for a woman's haircut do you really expect them to wash your hair lol) if you're in newark/fremont area and are looking for a new hair salon, i swear by this spot -- annie has literally never let me down. read more

My gauge for when I need a hair cut = usually when (a) my ponytails are getting super heavy and start causing potential headaches, and/or (b) I realize it's been over a year since my last haircut. Since I was meeting both of the above and am also leaving for a vacation to somewhere hot/humid to go caving in a few days, I figured it'd be best to get this done beforehand, but procrastinated and couldn't find anywhere with available appointments over the weekend. Sooo I came here as a walk in at 10am on a Sunday and did not have to wait more than 5 minutes! I am terrible with names so I unfortunately did not get the name of the lady who cut my hair, but she was really nice and took a very reasonable amount of time with me (especially considering how much I had cut). I was in and out within an hour. She asked me what I wanted done and confirmed the length I specified with me multiple times (which I appreciate due to reading horror stories at other salons where they just chop everything off). I've sported roughly the same hairstyle since junior high so I wasn't looking to make too many changes--just a long-overdue 4-5" trim, layers, and being able to put it into a ponytail without a headache as a plus. Mission accomplished and my entire head feels a million times lighter! It's a teensy bit shorter than I expected, but only because of the layering. Overall, I'm quite happy, and being able to walk in was super convenient. -$50 for haircuts for women. (This doesn't include a wash/dry, so you may want to spray your hair beforehand with a heat protectant of some kind before going.) -Cash preferred but they do take card (minimum $25) -They understand English but are more comfortable with Chinese (possibly Vietnamese too?). read more

Once settled in the salon chair by Annie, I shared that I was looking to get the front part of my hair done with lavender highlights. She recommended that I opt for purple highlights instead, so that I could enjoy two colors (initially, purple; then, a lovely lavender upon fading) without having to pay an exorbitant amount for just one. I'm actually really pleased with my haircut here. I haven't been here for over 10 years, but I came by for a layered hair cut today. My hair feels much more voluminous and healthier than before. Although my mom and I made an appointment for Annie to do our hair, an older lady did my hair. She was kind of clumsy and dropped a lot of tools but she did a really good job regardless. This salon is quite busy so making an appointment might help. We waited about 10-15 minutes to get our haircuts, but some customers looked like they had to wait up to 30 minutes. It's store is located inside the Lion plaza (when you walk in it's on the right-side, further down). I called to set up an appointment with Annie, as her reviews on Yelp were fantastic- and she was amazing! Not only did she give me exactly the hair cut I had wanted, but had offer great suggestions for shampoo and other beauty tips. Ken and his staff are unprofessional. He doesn't know how cut or perm hair. My daughter hair was straight light brown with length down to her waist. She came in on May 2022 for Korean Wavy perm. Ken did not analyze her hair properly and he literally fried her hair. My daughter lost over 24 inches of her long hair. Her hair was never colored, though, she has a bit of swimmer hair. With Ken's over 20 years of experiences from his salon next to Marina Grocery in Union City to his current salon next to Lion Grocery. He did a wonderful job in damaged her hair. He and his staff are extremely negligence and apologetically and he try to amend by given my daughter a very uneven haircut (aka. wolf cut) at shoulder length. Please do not go to this place. This one start is not for this business. This is for the only (male) guy with a pony tail who cuts hair. Do not go to him for hair cuts. he literally finished cutting my hair in less than 5 mins. it was very uneven. he didn't care to do a good job but to finish soon and go to his phone. charged me 20 buck for a very bad job. The fact that you use a certain clipper doesn't mean it will cut uniformly.. the barber should look for imperfection and fix it. pretty bad job! the other person - lady cut my hair last time did a decent job. Regina was really nice but I think she didn't catch when I said its my first time to have my hair done. she showed me a hair sample with the color I want and she said that it's gonna look like the hair sample so I said 'yeah' she then started coloring my hair but after she's done, I can't see the color much like it's barely there. that's not what the hair sample looks like. then she told me about how my hair is black so the outcome is different and bleaching will cause more damaged. i am just upset because she didn't tell me that from the beginning so I could've said no or opted for getting a base color first. read more
