Super mixed opinions. I went at around 1:00pm on a Friday for lunch. Place was completely packed so I hoped the food would be fresh. I was looking for my usual spread since it was my first time. * The "house special" egg rolls are the worst egg rolls I've ever had. They're filled with some sort of mystery meat paste that just tasted awful. Might be the first egg roll I've ever had I couldn't finish. I didn't see any 'normal' cabbage-based egg rolls, the only other option was spring rolls. * The "krab rangoons" [sic] very mid but servicable. They're the "triangle" type and sweet, but very little stuffing in each one. For some reason they were kind of hidden and I missed them on first pass, in a completely different section than all the other deep fried food. * The scallion pancakes tasted off. Like a little undercooked and an overwhelmingly strong scallion flavor which didn't taste very fresh. * The sushi though, was top tier for a Chinese buffet. Only Maki, but everything tasted fresh, well assembled, lots of variety, and the rice:filling ratio was great. For the rice itself, the rice/vinegar/sugar ratio was on point too. Genuinly surprised given my experience with everything else. * The "fresh grilled" section was above average. They had some meat that was pretty decent, and in this area they also had the traditional dim sum dumplings which were below average (too much binder/filler) but servicable. Wish I tried the fish, they had multiple varieties that looked fresh. * In general I tried a bunch of dumplings and they all tasted like they went very heavy on the binder in them. Not great. * The grilled chicken on a stick tasted like they'd been sitting all day and dry despite it being peak times. Genuinly wondering if they were leftovers from the day before. * Despite a ton of shrimp and seafood dishes, no coconut or honey/mayo shrimp. * The chese/mayo mussles tasted a bit off as well. Just tasted like old mussles and the sauce was unusally tangy in a bad way. Usually one of my favorite dishes at a buffet but after trying one, didn't go back for more. * The sweet and sour chicken looked dry and tasted old. Like it was fried too long then just sat under a heat lamp for too long on top of that. * They had a huge bowl of guac on the salad bar. It was genuinly very good guac and freshly made. The salad bar in general looked very good as well. If you're the type who gets salad at a buffet this might be a high point. In general, it had everything you'd expect to add up to a great buffet, but just everything was a bit off. Honestly most things tasted like it was sitting for hours dying under the heat lamp and/or was reheated leftovers despite it being so busy I had trouble finding a seat. I don't really know what to make of that. I'd be willing to give it a second chance because maybe it was an off day, and the Sushi really saved it, but given how highly reccomended it was on reddit I was left a bit dissapointed. read more

I just went to Super China Buffet with my family of six and spent over $100. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. The first thing we noticed was plastic plates, cups with plastic utensils. That wasn't a huge issue at first, until we realized the plastic plates and utensils were being taken out of the trash, washed, dried, and reused. That was very concerning. The food was also disappointing. Much of it was cold, dry, and tasted like it had been sitting out for a while or had been reheated. Overall, it was not the quality we expected, especially for the price we paid. My father in law wanted to try this spot so I visited Super China Buffet today with him. The buffet was extremely busy but thankfully due to us being only two people we were seated pretty quickly. Pretty standard buffet ambiance of this restaurant with a whole bunch of tables for guests to sit. Overall food was not bad at all considering it's a buffet - the Sushi was pretty good and the Crab Rangoons were decent too. As the number of AYCE buffets are dwindling, it's really hard to find one that is priced right and has a good selection of food. I walked in and thought to myself this place is really small. But to my surprise it was quite a huge selection of food even a teppanyaki griddle at the far end. I grabbed a styrofoam plate and began my journey. I pick lo mein noodles, potstickers, sushi and other food items. The food was good for the most parts. The flavors really popped on some items other were just ok. For the most part I remembered what a fried told me that food at the bottom of the pan was always the warmest. I will be going back to try other items. read more

Had a 2 separate cockroaches climb on me and when I asked for a refund the owner started gaslighting me about how it's just a bug from outside. MIND YOU THIS HAPPENED TWICE. For a buffet this is everything you could hope for. It's the largest Chinese buffet I've seen - has Chinese American food, has American food, and has Chinese food. So much to choose from. The food itself ranges in quality but most of it is acceptable at least. And it's only 17 bucks! 17 bucks! For MORE options. That's the biggest selling point here. Crazy. One way they cost cut is they use styrofoam for plates and cups and bowls. This is acceptable but when the soup is so hot and you're putting it in a styrofoam bowl... it's nit very healthy but whatever - it's a Chinese buffet. The whole concept - gorging yourself on greasy food isn't healthy. So fuck it. The place is clean, plenty of seating. The bathroom is maybe not big enough considering how large a crowd this place draws but eh. I will definitely, 100% be back. Highly recommend. read more

If i could give this place a negative 5 stars I would. Seafood, poultry, meat and pork all had a taste of almost rotten. I've been to many Chinese buffets in the area and this is on the lower tier. This place is probably review proof anyways, since its customers probably don't care. But the use of styrofoam plates, cups and plastic cutlery is unappetizing. They stack the used plates on a cart and just leave them there in the open, garbage cans be damned. I'm always skeptical about buffets. 9/10 times I've always gotten sick from one and just don't trust the food. We were in a time crunch in the neighborhood after finding out the local pho restaurant down the block was cash only. Desperate times called for desperate measures. Overall though, I was pleasantly surprised. They've been here for many decades and they don't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. It was packed and busy on a Thursday late afternoon right before dinner hour. For two people, you pay 30.00. I thought that was relatively cheap considering in some places it can be 30-40.00 per person. Food wasn't bad. It wasn't the best but it was definitely good. They have an array of options from fried chicken to different types of noodles. Their dessert department is a little lacking but overall their food is decent. Not long ago, I ate here. I ate here being a tad worried it'd be as worse as certain 1 and 2 star reviews say, but that said it was okay. While it beat my expectations, I wouldn't make a special trip for here if you don't live nearby. That said while the food wasn't the best as at certain buffets(Paris Las Vegas STILL remains my favorite buffet ever, to this day), I was grateful it wasn't as bad as Hong Kong Buffet is, or also the former Shooters buffet. And I could find things that were edible, i.e. like their crab rangoon, and I did find some desserts I liked. Along with them having fruit. Points for having sushi, as well. As of right now in summer 2021(not sure if this'll change down the road, I suspect this is a temporary COVID business change which won't last long term), they aren't doing crab legs on those nights like they used to do. Their ice cream machine was broken, so upon my visit earlier this summer, they had set up a cooler with small sizes of Dean's ice cream and also their sorbets(raspberry and orange). This place is fine if you have an itch you must scratch for a Chinese buffet, but honestly I miss the Chinese buffet that years ago was at Pointe Plaza in Niles(just north of Village Crossing with Walmart and Fresh Farms, and used to be in the space where Men's Warehouse now is in). By far the best China buffet I have eaten at in Illinois. And I've eaten at almost all of them. Entrance is $17 and the food is divine. Substantial variety. But the flavours!! The flavours are perfect. Nothing is bland or overseasoned. It is all perfect This is the only China buffet I will be eating at until I move. 10/10 recommended. I've been living in Chicago for over a year as a student and for working as a professional from Asia. I always searching for Asia Food wherever I go .I used to come here many times with my family and we eat as much as we can because it's buffet restaurant. When we came to the restaurant, the woman (shown in pics) always watching like a hawk and the time we talked to her ,she never looked polite to us. I came alone here for 2 times, she suspected me like a respondent. Thought it was a good options to take the kids before going to go bananas for them to eat until they were full instead of pizza and chicken tenders. Well bad idea. This place was extremely packed on a Sunday you share tables with other families they told me kids were half priced but charged an extra dollar for one of my Kids. Oh why do I keep entertaining my parents' love for chinese buffets? This place was rather large, showcasing a giant dining room, with two smaller adjacent dining rooms. The choices of foods was pretty good. They had sushi, which had around 10 or so different rolls. This table was probably my favorite. The sushi was A-OK, the wasabi was definitely too watery for me. Other tables included: Dessert: included vanilla cookies, jello, watermelon, etc. This was OK, and if you want more dessert, go explore the opposite end of the dining section and you'll find a chest freezer with vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and rasperry ice cream, or right next to that, a self soft-serve (or is it soft, self-served?) ice cream, where one lever was for vanilla, another for chocolate, or a lever that mixes the two. The kiddos liked the ice cream from the chest freezer more than the soft-serve..... and next to that, pizza, for some weird reason. Asian table: soup, egg rolls, crab rangoon, Singapore noodles, lo-mein, beef w/brocoli, rice, fried rice, orange chicken Seafood table: sometimes they serve crab legs, the line for this is sometimes long, and you get only a few crab legs at a time, which is fair. They have salmon and crawfish, as well American-ish table: Mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, french fries, sweet potatoes, etc Tea, soda, water is available for you to wash, the heaps of gluttony goodness of buffet food, down your throat. This place is by-far my parents' fave. They liked the variety and the asian table the best. Go figure. BATHROOM REVIEW: Located near the pizza area, the bathrooms showcased a two-staller and a few urinals. I can get my own drinks and utensils and everything else. We've been back a couple times recently and figured I'd better update my two star rating to 3. Notable. The sushi is not just the strange dried stuff that you tend to see at buffets. It's actually damn good. I'm blown away good with the pieces I had. Love the diversity of the food, they always have a lot of people so it gets really tight sometimes but it's never too loud, I've been coming here since before the pandemic and I actually like the fact that they change plates to plastic so that germs and viruses wouldn't speed as much as they do by just washing dishes, besides that service is decent lady's come and take plates when you're done.
