First, note that you have to drive back around the Shop Rite to get to this place. It has a huge sign on the marquis, which would lead you to believe it's out front, smack in the middle of things, but it is not even visible from Edgmont Ave, and you'd be better off driving down Hilltop Dr. to get to it.
I think they have the large presence on the sign both because they need it to alert people that this actually is their location despite the fact that you can't see it from the road, and also because they have been around for decades, while all the other renters have come and gone, a few times over.
That said, we have had positive experiences here. I grew up in nearby Middletown Twp, and had a number of experiences there over the years.
They have a surprising amount of variety, to the point where we have wondered where the customers come from to buy some of this more esoteric stuff, but it is amazing nonetheless. (And when I say I have to wonder... I do not mean any disrespect, I just imagine Mr. Burns sipping it by a fire, not your average 'burban family.)
In terms of selection and finery, they even impressed my snobbiest old college friend, big-man-who-moved-from-OK-to-NYC (the newbies are always snobbier than the native NYC snobs). He could not stop talking about the place for the rest of the weekend. He wanted to go back because something was well-priced, but he had to take the train home, and couldn't lug a case all the way back.
I take a star off because there are items we'd love to buy there which I've called about on a few occasions over the years, and apparently their distributor doesn't supply those items. I understand they can't always control that, but in an honest review I have to point out what the facts are, and it's a drawback when we can't get what we want.
All in all, they're a decent stop, and surprisingly well stocked for a joint behind the rest of the shopping center. read more
