First time coming to a General Discount store. I'm used to shopping at 99 cent stores. They closed…read moredown this year. So I'm still looking for a good alternative. This is definitely not it. Came here to get some turkey basters, some stationary products like paper, pens, pencils, markers, and any other cheap stuff I don't need. That's exactly how I shopped at 99 Cent store. Most of the cheap stuff here is doubled the price that would've been priced at 99 Cent store. So this is not a good 99 Cent store alternative. Example: Turkey basters were "on sale" for 99 cent (they were sold out). But they were sold out. Reynold's aluminum foil was "on sale" with required coupon found in paper (they didn't have any papers in store), for 99 cent. Luckily I had my paper that was in my junk mail. As the regular price is over $3. They must be crazy. This is a discount store. I expect discount prices. Otherwise I can go to Vons or Ralph's and pay some change more for the same brand. Their selection for cheap stuff under $2.00 is slim. Most of the 99 cent stuff is "on sale" for a certain amount of time. Most of the good sales that are shown in the paper are out of stock. I barely found stuff that was useful for my needs. Because they have such a small selection of stuff in comparison to 99 Cent stores. Aisles in store are narrow as ever. You will have to turn your body sideways so others can squeeze pass you and your cart. I'm slim and still had this issue. Parking lot is shared with tons of businesses in shopping area. But there is plentiful available parking, especially on a Saturday morning at 10am (store opening hours) when I went. But the parking spaces are small af. You will get door dings or give door dings from getting out vehicle. I noticed a lot of people taking up two spaces. I guess so they won't get or receive door dings. Lastly, I read some bad reviews about a store Latino male security guard who watches everyone like a hawk and will confront you if your purse is a backpack or a designer bag and demand that you leave it up front in a cart. Well, I didn't encounter him. There was a black male security guard working Today. I didn't have any issues out of him. There is also LPAs who follow folks around the store. I'm guessing that this store experiences a lot of shoplifting. Because LPAs (loss prevention agents) were deep in here and watching everyone like a hawk. The cashier was friendly. But there was only 1 cashier opened. So lines were long. Bottom-lime, I won't return. Next time I'm in area, I'll try out Dollar Tree, located in shopping center across the street

I attend a Dementia Support Group on the 2nd Thursday of each month in Whittier. This year I managed and was lucky to find scraps, mittens, throw blankets, socks for our seniors.. I was litterally shocked at the price and the quality the beanies and scrarfs were made of that I went and asked if they had more. We have lost a few bussiness and I feel I have found my new spot.

General Discount - This is all I bought. Injectors were "on sale" for 99 cent. Discount General is definitely not a good alternative to 99 Cent store

I over heard the security shouting at someone going to the dressing room in the front of the store that she was only allowed to have 5 items. Tone and delivery sets the tone for a good shopping experience. I was looking for an employee to ask about the restroom. I approached a male worker and asked if the restroom was open. He very rudely said "we cant stop right now we have money" as he was following a female employee to the front. For 1 , he could have simply told me then and there that the restroom was out of service and secondly , him announcing loudly for the entire store to hear that they had money on them defeats the purpose of him following the other employee for "protective purposes". As I never got a clear answer about the restrooms , I proceeded to the front to ask if I could use the restroom or not. He then was able to tell me they were closed. The security in the front also talks about how she's close to being off and how her clock out time is approaching. Unprofessional. It sucks that they have great stuff but have employees that couldn't care less about good customer service.

Great selection but the service has fallen down, the way so many Dollar Trees fall: one of the more…read moreexperienced employees has now started to turn this Dollar Tree into their own little social club, taking forever at the cashier now due to socializing at the register at length, and also getting super moody if others don't feel like playing along & customers are merely in a rush. God forbid if you're preoccupied or just not wanting to chitchat, they now act like you walked into their party and didn't say hi to the host , they launch into socializing at random, just keeps goin while we all wait in line. It's such a headache that I won't be coming back for a while. It's not the end of the world , there's many locations with professional staff. But some of us customers are in a big rush , and it's not some personal insult, it's not that deep, we just need our sliced bread put in a bag. There was someone exactly like this at the Ralph's right across the street from this dollar tree. Lots of customers were put off by that Ralph's lady who did the same 'social club' thing. She'd get so angry when customers were preoccupied or listening to earbuds or in a rush. if you just wanted to get your groceries they'd act like you were actually hurting them. Others also complained about her. I stopped going to Ralph's for a while until I saw that the person was not working there anymore.

My new favorite store. How did I not know this existed?! lolz…read more I found Grocery Outlet because VegoBears are these really cute & fancy LA gummies that I was on the hunt for for Christmas. They sell at Erewhon for $6 a pop and they were at the Grocery Outlet for----NINETY NINE CENTS. Oh my gosh, I'm sad I already bought some for my friends at full price! WTF. This store is amazing, I was able to get adorable, fancy food items to put together cute baskets for my friends as presents. Before going, I downloaded the app and was shocked to see all on sale. Amazing deals for sure on items I actually buy and also a lot of cool and weird promo items. Cinnamon Toast Flavored bacon~?!?!?! Like wtf? I want to try it. Many items are very high quality, name brand stuff - just be sure to check expirations on food items. This location has a huge parking lot and is around a ton of other stuff in Inglewood, so it's convenient. It's also very organized (except for the clearance section but that's to be expected) and clean. Bring your own bags or pay 15 cents a pop for them. They have everything here from liquor & produce to tons of other food items to even having flowers and clothes plus random toys & home goods. Just a few examples of some of the cool items I got: Grinch Cookie Making Kit $3.99 VegoBears Santa Monica, Malibu and Venice $.99 ($6 at Erewhon, $5 at Whole Foods) Creative Kids Blippi Toy Set $5.99 ($35 on Amazon) Ted Lasso Uno $4.99 ($14 on Amazon) Disney Wish blind bag Doorables $1.49 (retail $9) Cinnabon Frosted Cinnaring $4.99 ($9.99 at Ralph's) Stok Peppermint Mocha Cold Brew $2.99 ($6.99 at Target) Just a few examples of the great savings they have! This is a really fun grocery experience for my fellow bargain hunters and I! Lolz. I heart Grocery Outlet and will hundy be back!

She visited the store about a month ago in the morning with my sister and cousin. From the moment they walked in, she felt constantly watched and followed not by staff offering help, but by the store's security guard. According to my mother, this guard followed her throughout the store, aisle by aisle, never taking his eyes off her. He even followed her up to the register and stood there watching as she checked out. There were other customers in the store, but according to her, they were the only Black people there and the only ones being surveilled like this. This kind of treatment is unacceptable. My mother is a hard-working nurse who has spent years in her profession and more importantly, she is a paying customer who deserves the same respect as anyone else in that store. To assume she came to steal based on how she looks is disgusting, dehumanizing, and wrong. Shame on your staff and management for allowing this kind of behavior to happen in your store. Racial profiling should never be part of anyone's shopping experience. Do better.
