A place to stay. Takes a bit for the room to cool down. Close to a couple of gas stations and fast food.

Everyone traps this place out. It's easy to do clean enough to bring a chick back to for a quick hook up. Most definitely a trap.spot

This was the absolute worst experience in the industry. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels &…read moremotels across the country and have never been as frustrated as I am right now. I stayed for 2 nights for a wedding that I was attending nearby and the GM, Nick, gave us attitude and was rude for requesting toilet paper and an additional towel. Then, without my consent charged me an additional $64.00 for the two nights and I have no idea why. THEN to top it all off, he barged into my room unannounced an hour and a half before check-out without knocking or giving a warning. Luckily we were all still sleeping, BUT he just stood there dumbfounded instead of promptly leaving once he realized he was clearly in the wrong room. Could you imagine if you were changing or getting out of the shower when this happened? With my wife being in the room he is one lucky man that I didn't storm into that so called office of his. I will never stay in another Rodeway Inn and I most definitely will never stay in this location ever again. Beyond disgusted at the lack of human decency and common sense this "GM" had. I am surprised this place is even still open with the type of management that is running the place.

There is a little coffee nook on the 2nd floor with a Keurig and coffee pods. They are VERY clear on the website that you must be able to navigate a flight of stairs for 300 numbered rooms. However, the best way to navigate to the 200 rooms is also up a very steep staircase. It's a historic building so I get it, and they have tried to provide some accessibility with a lift on the outside of the building, but if accessibility is a key concern you may want to stay elsewhere.

Rooms are nice sized, with a nostalgic feel, comfortable bed, and very clean. However had some…read moredisappointing issues. This is not a Bed and Breakfast, no breakfast voucher either - so forget anything you read otherwise - I complained about the sign that was even in the window as you walked in stating Bed and Breakfast, which they did remove the next day. Speaking of walking in - I had to push the automatic door to the lobby open (they did fix that the next day) only to find a kiosk virtual front desk (from a different town/state who knows where, that had to call about everything that required attention). After we had drove a few hours, we did get a text to warn us that the elevator was broken (so check on that before you go, because it was still broke when we left). I had booked a room specific to 2nd floor, as my wife has some trouble with stairs after hip surgery (none on first floor, and 3rd floor only has stair access). After the steep climb with luggage (We heard some poor soul struggling to get luggage up the stairs and thought he was going to have a heart attack, but he made it before I was able to get out to help). We got settled in, but before the day was over... the TV quit working. Mr. kiosk suggested the typical things (reboot etc...) that I had already tried and had to show him a picture of the screen that showed it had no connection. He said they would have someone fix the next day after treating me like I did not know anything (I worked in IT over 40 years, I can tell when a Roku cannot connect to a network). Next day, after being out all day, came in to relax - no TV still, Mr. Kiosk said we could move to another room... OK we pack up and move to a new room, and it is super cold, go to Mr. Kiosk again because we could not find a thermostat, his solution ... we move to another room that has a thermostat we can adjust on the third floor - no - we are tired we don't want to lug up another flight of stairs, we will just get out another blanket. We did get a call at that point, and I was told the thermostat is currently in another room for the whole floor, but I can go and adjust (got there and it was set to 66), so we finally was able to settle in and watch TV for the night. (They are planning on making changes to have individual controlled, but something you might want to consider). The last day was better, but not sure we will be back even though we did like the room itself. Definitely, buyer beware - ask before booking.

Concrete blocks with names written in marker and smells of a musty basement, but the wine flows and the entertainment is like no other. The wine likely is whatever is on sale at Walmart, but I promise it doesn't matter. The bartender, Trina, will make sure you have one hell of a time. She may sit at the piano and play a little song, tell some jokes, or pose you for photo shoots. I've been a couple times now and it's always a great time! I don't even know if we got her real name. You get a wine glass and 5 tastes for $12. I think I ended up trying 7 because there were I few I didn't like so she switched them out which was really nice. They do not make any wines themselves. You are just trying various wines which at first was a bummer but it was nice to try some new ones I hadn't had before. We had 2 dry wine people and 2 sweet wine people and they had a lot for us to try. This place is downstairs from an Inn. It's a little dark as it's the basement but once you get used to it it's not bad. You feel like you are in a wine cellar. The only bad thing is there's no restroom. I don't know how or why but there really isn't one you can use. Not fun when you are drinking but luckily the courthouse had theirs open.

I was at a calling for my cousin and decided that I was close enough to Illinois to drive to Vandalia in the morning to photograph another Madonna of the Trail, as I did recently in Springfield, OH. After all, why drive 150+ miles across the state, do what needs to be done to show respect, and drive home when you could take advantage of the location? So, I found this Super 8 location not far into Illinois from Indiana. It seemed reasonable and the desk clerk was friendly. I didn't have any discounts so it was just over $61.00. I suppose that's not bad but it's not really cheap, either. The room has a good sized (comfortable) bed, a table with two chairs, a recliner, a TV, and a fridge. They also included a coffee maker and a hair dryer--plus they have the continental breakfast from 6-9 a.m. She didn't mention if it was flown here daily from The Continent or not. Being that this is a 5 star hotel--oh, wait! I love having a clean room. That is a wonderful thing. A good lock on the door is helpful, too. I should tell you about the Super 8 outside Atlanta, GA...or maybe, you won't want to know. This place in Marshall seems great in comparison with most locations. I think that they need to finish some maintenance work but oh well, I need to work on my own house.

Clayshire Castle

Our wedding at Clayshire Castle was beautiful, but the experience with Douglas left us very…read moreuncomfortable. We rented the castle for our wedding weekend, including overnight accommodations for our family, and while we appreciated the unique setting, he repeatedly crossed boundaries during our stay. Throughout our wedding night, Douglas frequently entered or attempted to enter our rented spaces uninvited, including coming down to our side of the castle and asking us to turn off lights to save electricity. While I can understand wanting to conserve energy, several guests returned to their rooms after leaving lights on and found them off, which was unsettling and felt like someone had been in the room. We paid a significant amount for the venue, and it's hard to imagine that the cost of electricity would come close to what we paid for the event. The situation made us and our guests feel like our privacy wasn't being fully respected during what should have been a private and personal celebration. During the rehearsal and throughout the weekend, Douglas made several comments that felt unnecessary and intrusive. During the rehearsal, he told my husband and I to "act like you like each other" because he felt we weren't standing close enough at the altar, though there were much more appropriate ways to make that suggestion. He also repeatedly remarked on my hair being down, referencing medieval customs. The frequency of these comments over the rehearsal, wedding night, and breakfast the next morning made the interactions uncomfortable. Our parents and other guests also noticed how he spoke differently to the younger adults in our group, often in a condescending tone. During the reception, Douglas and Josephine helped clear plates as guests finished eating, which we appreciated. However, a few guests witnessed Douglas taking a plate of food and a cookie from our catering as he returned to his side of the castle. We weren't upset about it, but it did feel odd since it hadn't been discussed beforehand. The venue itself is stunning, but couples considering booking should be aware that the owners remain very present and involved throughout the event. Sometimes in ways that make it difficult to fully relax and enjoy your celebration.

Downtown TH has some super fun bars and restaurants and they're all a hop from this place. The hotel is quiet, clean, and like I already mentioned, the rooms are huge. I love their workout room here too- it's got everything I need to have an excellent workout while I'm on the road. It's super clean and has a nice range of equipment. Overall this is an excellent hotel.
