We had a pleasant experience. Somehow I accidentally reserved a pontoon for the following weekend,…read morebut they were able to accommodate us today, thankfully! Everyone is nice & friendly. Check in was easy and they go through all the do's & dont's of using the boat. The pontoon we reserved was the cheapest, but it was really nice compared to ones we've rented in the past at other lakes/rivers. Had Bluetooth speakers which added to the experience. We were bummed out the weather was a bit crappy so I felt like we didn't get to fully enjoy the experience. Also, unless you plan to jump off the boat and swim/float etc., there's no where to beach it to hang out, and you are told to stay 150 feet away from the edges due to shallow water and rocks. The water was a chilly 52 for Memorial Day weekend and without sun and warm temps we didn't get into the water. We ended up returning our rental early due to rain, but checking the boat back in was easy. I definitely recommend renting if you're spending a day here. It's got gorgeous views and it's very big. There were some cool teepees out of what looked like driftwood or something along the South Eastern section that merges into Provo River. There's beautiful homes along northern edges as well.

When you look at the negative reviews they are hardly trustworthy. All complaining about refunds,…read moreso you know when people make mistakes and wants refunds it's always the owners fault. Joe was nothing but great this weekend, him and his wife are fantastic people and very professional. Prices are reasonable and line up with every boat rental place I have ever researched. My wife and I rented a jet ski and paddle board from Utah Paddle Board Rentals on July 16th. Joe, the owner, helped us. Very friendly guy at first. We rented a three person jet ski with the aim of having three people on it for the duration of the rental period. Joe assured us it could easily handle three people. As it turned out, the jet ski was far too unstable for three. So we tried it with two people. It was a perfect ride. No issue with it whatsoever. The thing is we didn't want to make one person sit on shore while the other people rode it. I contacted Joe immediately and spoke with him and he agreed that if we returned the jet ski right away he'd give us a partial refund. He also told us he'd get us a few more paddle boards to use for the day for our trouble (which was a promise they failed to fulfill). So we met up with Joe's employees, Ryan and Trevor and handed the jet ski off to them at the Deer Creek dock. We asked them if we needed to put it back on the trailer but they said they would probably take it out on the reservoir for the rest of the day. On our way home we contacted Joe again to finalize the refund he would give us for the jet ski. He told us he would give us $100 back on the $175 jet ski rental plus the total $250 damage deposit. When we said we actually paid $200 for the rental not $175 he suddenly lost his temper and said he didn't have to give us anything back. He said he was done listening and didn't have to do anything for us. We attempted to explain we weren't trying to get more money from him but that we did pay more for the jet ski rental than $175. He kept cutting us off and suddenly put us on hold. When he came back on the line he had realized his mistake. At that point he agreed to give us $125 back on the $200 paid for renting the jet ski and the full $250 back for the damage deposit, a total refund of $375. He told us it would take 2-3 business days for the refund to go through. A few days later we checked our account. There was no sign of a refund. Finally six days later when there was still no sign of a refund and no word or explanation from Joe, we contacted him via text asking if the refund had been made. He left a voicemail saying the refund had not been made because there was damage done to the jet ski. He said the intake had rock damage and that's why we were having issues using it. (However, the day we rented we told him there weren't any mechanical issues with the jet ski, it was simply a stability issue. We told him it worked great with just two people riding). I returned his call to tell him we were never near rocks and the jet ski worked perfectly in our care. Joe again lost his temper and promptly hung up on me. Joe's wife called me within an hour saying "Joe isn't very level-headed in these kind of situations." I told her as I had Joe, we were never around any rocks and the jet ski never had any mechanical issues, but that Ryan the employee said he and Trevor were planning on using it for the day after we passed it off to them. I asked if they had been questioned about it. She responded that the employees weren't available for questioning as they no longer worked there and that it wouldn't even matter if they did because we were the last renters on record. (Although there was no record as Joe never had us sign any release form or rental agreement). Even though we did not damage the machine in the small amount of time we used it, they were still charging us as if we did. She ended by saying we are keeping all your money and that's that, and promptly hung up. As it stands we are working with our credit card company to dispute only the charges Joe had agreed to refund us even though we paid much more. We are attempting to still be fair even though there is no indication of that being reciprocated. We are left stunned having dealt with a "business" that would extort their customers like this. And we are not the first to have this kind of experience with Utah Paddle Board Rentals. Other reviews indicate similar treatment. Our goal is to make other potential customers aware of the the inherit risk of doing business with Utah Paddle Board Rentals.

Our experience was amazing - an incredible river and geology, sandy beach campsites, delicious and plentiful freshly prepared food, interesting and skilled guides navigating the river and its rapids, two side hikes to unique locations... We spent time in the oar rafts and in the inflatable kayak "duckies" on the river, and spent time at camp swimming, talking, eating. playing bocce and volleyball, and stargazing under a new moon with another guide (Tom) who brought a telescope and told us stories of the constellations as he showed us how to find them and brought up other unique views on the telescope. Of course, this is an off-the-grid experience so there were no distractions from cell phones (no signal), we slept in tents, and we all had to use a box toilet to be packed out by the guides each morning as we got back in the rafts. Maybe that's not something everybody's comfortable with, but it's an amazing trip in an awe-inspiring location.

When I asked why they needed a height and weight for snowshoeing they rudely answered that they need the information for skiing. When I mentioned I wasn't renting skis, they were rude. Next, asked for advice on where to go. The girl got out a map, not knowing how to read it, and said, "just go up the street." We did that; there was no trailhead, parking, or even a path. Went back to the shop and asked if we could park there and snowshoe from there and the answer was (again, rudely) "absolutely not." We asked for advice on where to go and they said to try the high school. Went there and there was no snow to be found. Eventually went back to our condo and discovered some very nice trails, no thanks to the rude people at this shop who acted like they hated their jobs, the customers, and life in general. That having been said, the snowshoes were also sub-par. The home page of their website said rentals were 35 $ but when you went to check out it changed to 39. Not worth it.
