Meet the Business Owner: Vicky M.
With old church pews for table tops, ladders as glass hangers, and a dining area carved out of the skittle alley, a reborn pub is taking shape in Cheltenham.
The woman behind Sup and Chow says she wants to create a venue where everyone feels at home in the former Brown Jug at Bath Road.
It's the fulfilment of a lifetime's dream for 44-year-old Vicky Martin, who grew up in a pub and has been working in the hospitality industry since the age of 14.
She built and ran her own guest house and restaurant in South Africa after moving there with her then husband, ex-Gloucester Rugby player Jake Boer.
While project-managing the launch of a new hotel in Oxfordshire over the last 18 months, the mother-of-three began keeping an eye out for pubs coming on to the market in Cheltenham.
She targeted Bath Road in particular because of its healthy community spirit.
"I love Bath Road and I spend a lot of time here. It's a great community. My friends said 'go for it'.
