5 stars for the food but 4 stars for experience + confusion…read more Interesting that a place serving food doesn't offer complimentary water. Didn't know until after the fact that the Thai cuisine was operating within Gridiron Bar... 2 separate entities. We were told fountain water wasn't available but they had bottled water instead. So we were surprised with a 2nd bill after paying the meal ticket. Also have spare cash just in case; computer stopped working later that night so we couldn't pay with card. Luckily we had enough cash to chip in. Aside from everything, the food was delicious. Did mildly spicy for majority of the food. The shrimp cakes were so good, we ordered another plate. Other tasty foods were the crabmeat fried rice, chicken satay, and panang curry w/ chicken. The pad kee mao combo protein was more sweet than savory/mild spice. Probably could go for medium spicy level. Wasn't too crazy about the muay thai wings, but they're worth trying once.

I had a craving for Thai food and saw this place with one review on Yelp, so my interest was…read morepiqued. I called ahead before leaving work and put in an order to pick up in 40 minutes. Finding the place was a bit of a challenge but I'm an explorer, so I was up to the challenge. I ended up at a bar and upon walking in I did not see anything that looked like a Thai restaurant. Thinking I must be mistaken, I walked out and was attempting to open the next door, when the bartender followed me outside and asked me if I was looking for something or needed help. I told her I was looking for a Thai restaurant and she told me to follow her back inside the bar. She told me that the restaurant is run out of the kitchen in the bar. Cool! That's when I noticed the sign that said Straight out of Bangkok! I had ordered the beef satay, Pad See Ew with beef, Catfish Curry and a Thai Tea. I met Chef Amy who cooked all of this food herself and she was very kind. The food itself was splendid. The beef satay tasted great with the meat being tender and juicy, combined with the peanut sauce, I quickly devoured all four. I should have ordered two orders. The Pad See Ew was good as well but I should have specified it be more spicy. I will next time but still great. Last but not least, the Catfish Curry brought the heat! Chef Amy asked how spicy I wanted and I said as spicy as you can make it. I was like a happy dragon breathing hot flames of deliciousness after eating that! That's what I'm talk about when it comes to spice, hot but oh so nice! I washed it down with a Thai Tea that is definitely authentic and less generic than what you might find elsewhere. If the streets of Bangkok are serving up food like this, sign me up. Next time I'll ask Chef Amy about her catering and cooking lessons, so I can level up my chef game. Whether you can or cannot visit the streets of Bangkok, one night in Bangkok Street Food will make your tastebuds tumble!
