On an January visit to learn, Walnut Village felt like a top-tier hotel or cruise ship. This was…read moredriven home by the beautiful plants and the finishes in the restrooms by the lobby as we prepared to leave. It was like a Four Seasons throughout and not like a facility for seniors. Touring Walnut Village with Anita, the units were more spacious and more homelike than expected, especially in the bathrooms and kitchen with excellent attention to quality. The fixtures in the hallways were nicely upscale as well; again, the finishes in a seemingly unimportant place were top quality. The Red Chair Lounge looks like a great place to stay engaged; having a drink and socializing before dinner in a quite elegant dining room. The food in the Bistro was excellent and, obviously, residents enjoy and comment on it. One of the issues in any community living situation is that menus get too routine. The staff works hard at variety which shows with the length of the menus and, again, the quality. Probably most important, was the feeling projected by the residents. Residents through out the tour were very engaging with a number stopping to say hello. One answered a question about walking in the surrounding area as a number of residents go out regularly - often walking over to Disneyland. Checking Medicare.gov, Walnut Village ranks very high for its skilled nursing facilities. Many looking for senior housing only think about today but all the levels of service at Walnut Village not only look good but work well. Finally, on a cost side, Walnut Village is an entrance-fee CCRC with monthly fees providing independent and assisted living in the units and an attractive skilled nursing unit on site. That means no leaving friends behind if a medical event arises. Comparing the cost of Walnut Village to other good CCRC facilities in Orange County, it has the lowest entrance fee for comparable size units, provides the largest refund of entrance fees upon leaving with monthly cost comparable or lower than competitive CCRCs. Bottom line, we both were pleasantly surprised by what we saw versus our expectation arriving. We knew it would be a newer facility but could not anticipate the vibe inside. Lots of food for thought.

She is pretty independent but really needed a place where she had some help with her care and all of her meals and The groves has been a godsend. in fact, we finished moving her in today even though she's been there for a week half moved in. Renee in sales made it a breeze and even came in on a Sunday to get us all set last week so my Mom could move in. My mom says it's been great and she has been meeting a lot of friendly people. The food has been awesome. My mom loves all the options and she said the food is solid. It's only about 83 rooms so you have a lot of privacy and a lot of open spaces. My mom's room she lives in is very spacious and has its own balcony and slider and heater and air conditioner . Every single person that works there is extremely friendly and goes out of their way to accommodate from the guy that just comes in and checks on Mom to make sure she's getting up to go have her meals to the nursing staff and even the incredibly nice maintenance guy. My mom, who has Alzheimer's, has called the Grace Gardens memory care wing at Town & Country Manor…read morehome since April 2025. What drew me to TC was a glowing recommendation from a friend whose dad thrives there--she raved about its bright, open spaces and dedicated staff. Living in Oregon, I committed sight unseen amid frustrations with my mom's previous facility. When I finally visited on move-in day, I wasn't disappointed; it exceeded expectations. Grace Gardens spans two floors in a stunning four-year-old building: the second for early-stage dementia residents like my mom, the first for advanced cases. Unlike the gloomy, cramped units I've seen elsewhere, this is memory care done right. A secure entrance leads to a cozy family café for visits. Upstairs, wide, sunlit hallways create an airy vibe that lifts spirits, even in a locked area. Downstairs, there's a garden and sun deck for fresh air. Room options include singles (I chose one at ~320 sq ft--plenty for her full bed, sofa, dining table, TV, chair, and beloved upright piano) or shared doubles with private baths. This is my mom's third facility--I've seen "excellence" promised in high-end assisted living in Bend, OR, and a seemingly solid spot in Fullerton, CA, only to watch care erode over time. TC has delivered some of the best and most frustrating moments in her six months here. Like dating, the honeymoon phase dazzles: everyone shines. By month six, the mask slips, revealing flaws. We've hit bumps--caregiver inconsistencies, staffing ratios that feel stretched thin, and my mom's heartbreaking loss of English, which complicates communication. Yet, TC stands out for its transparency and partnership. As a hands-on son (her only family left), I visit every three weeks and video-call daily from Oregon. I've seen caregivers go above and beyond--holding her hand through anxious spells or patiently navigating confusion. And when they've fallen short? Management steps up swiftly. CEO Rob Goerzen and floor staff respond promptly to my concerns, brainstorming creative fixes like visual aids and bilingual cues for Mom's language needs. In an industry plagued by turnover, TC invests in training and accountability, weeding out underperformers without excusing them. The location adjacent to Santiago Park for strolling, nearby Mainplace Mall, world class hospitals, and endless dining options along with its close proximity to major highways such as the 22 and the I-5 is very convenient. No facility is perfect--Grace Gardens would be the first to say so, and as a young program, it's still evolving. But compared to the others, TC's Christian nonprofit ethos shines through in its beautiful design (I challenge you to find a more welcoming memory care space) and family-first approach. Common hurdles like staffing shortages persist everywhere, but here, they're met with genuine effort. Grace Gardens feels like a forever home for Mom--a place where she can thrive as it grows. I recommend it wholeheartedly and have entrusted her to their capable hands. If you're seeking compassionate, upscale memory care in Southern California, start here. No place is perfect, but giving TC an honest and well earned 4 Stars!

I just wish newbies on this process, like me, would find Bob right away. Bob is genuinely kind, caring, and was so helpful conveying all the pertinent information regarding the elderly care business including contacts for placement agents! He didn't have to spend 26 minutes on the phone with me patiently explaining information but he did! After that call, I felt like I talked to an angel; I felt so blessed! The house and interior seems newly renovated and well maintained. It is aesthetically pleasing with modern colors and decor. The rooms are personalized with each residents personal photos and memorabilia to make it their "home." What makes this place so wonderful is the caring/loving owner, manager and staff. Ruth the owner is very down to earth and has a very hands on approach involving resident care and safety. Most owners of these board and cares don't visit the place and just have someone manage it. Ruth is not so, I see her frequently at the house bringing goodies in for residents, checking in to ensure her staff are ok and any concerns are addressed. I work mostly with Kim (manager), Theresa and Courtney (care staff). Kim is sweet, caring, involved with patient care and safety and always there to support her staff. Despite of crazy days and chaos she encounters, she never brings it to work and always has a smile on her face. She goes above and beyond to ensure her residents are not just clients but family. She truly cares for her residents and that is the heart of this field. Theresa is always so gentle and patient with my little lady there. Courtney is fairly new to the house but she is also very sweet and friendly with the residents. This place has a lot of different activities to keep their residents entertained, minds active and improve quality of life. If you are looking for a place for your loved one and budget allows, I would highly recommend this place.
