Dr. Botros made sure he received all the necessary care and attention he needed, which helped him grow into the healthy teenager he is today. For that, I am deeply grateful. My youngest son was also born prematurely due to a placental abruption. During that difficult time, Dr. Botros went above and beyond by coming to the hospital personally for his circumcision. I had accidentally overpaid her, and I didn't even realize it--but she took the time to find me at the hospital to return the money. That level of honesty and integrity truly speaks volumes about the kind of person she is. He's very very traditional, and seems to focus on the minor issues, instead of the major ones. Long story short, my son has a 102 temperature, and is a mess in the room, and the doctor is nagging me that he should not be have a pacifier at his age- I did not want a parenting counselor; I just wanted him to focus on my sons sickness. He also kept us waiting very long in the room (in between our session) and was just a bit off putting. I may be a bit sensitive, but when it comes to my child, I dont want to be scolded, or feel anything less than warmth. I will be looking for a new doctor.

We visited the office on Friday and I was nervous and anxious as any parent would be. We were greeted with Anna who was friendly and patient while I was filling out the check in paperwork. She was also the one that took his vitals and did the EKG. During this time, she ask about any hereditary heart conditions in the family. She treated my little one with care and talked thru everyone that she was doing to my little one which helped him be calm and cooperative. After the EKG, we went into another exam room to wait for Dr Lai with the echo. It was a short wait unlike some of the other medical offices. Dr Lai was very friendly asked the same hereditary heart conditions as Anna which I really appreciated cause it showed that they were thorough and Dr Lai wanted to ensure that we were all on the same page. The echo started and Dr Lai also described everything that she was going to do ( like this wand was a camera to help her look at the heart and the gel was going to a little cold,etc). When the echo started , she took her time with every image and did NOT rush any part of the echo. One of the best parts was that when the echo started, she took out an iPad so my little one had something to keep him calm and still. A few more good things that I liked...completely the forms in a iPad, the waiting room had a toy car table to keep the little one entertained, the rooms were decorated so cute and the exam room had a toy that keep my little one busy. After the exam for being so good and cooperative, Dr Lai gave my little one a toy. I would absolutely recommend Dr Lai and team! After our visit, I explained that my son's school would require a note to return to day and explained it needed to be worded as such as this school is very strict. They provided me with an automatic generated note where it stated that my son was seen on (Filled in the blank date in blue ink) and to excuse his absence. The front desk lady who provided me the note was very disconnected and appeared to even be bothered by my request. As expected the school took issue and refused to let my son return without the note speciyfing that he could in fact return today. I called and spoke with the front desk. They refused to generate a new letter stating that is the only option they have. I don't think this is the case though as I am sure patients all have different needs of being excused; some returning, some needing the day off, and others needing multiple days excused. I was then told that they couldn't write on the note to amend it. I explained that they wrote the date on the note in blue ink. Another long silence. Then I was told the school could call themselves if they want but that they were at lunch. I asked how that would help as they needed something in writing. She then said the doctor was gone. She was so short, unbothered, unsympathetic, and unhelpful. As a result, he missed testing, basketball tryouts, etc. While I understand the school's rules are fairly strict and frustrating, this interaction was so frustrating as a patient's mom. I am assuming most of their patient's parents are already pretty stressed that their child is having to see a Cardiologist. I think the front desk would benefit from some training on how to treat their patient's and parents. Dr. Lai was so incredibly nice and helpful. Her staff need to reflect her.
