The Trex decking near the laundry room and bathrooms is sinking in and uneven (trip hazard) and the laundry room is absolutely disgusting. The machines are not cleaned, there is slimy build up in the flaps. They have maintenance guys working but all I see him do is drive around in the golf cart never actually working. This campground is unsafe and dirty. We have stayed there for 3 winter seasons and due to the condition this last time we will finding another rv park for our winter getaways.

The retention ponds are full of turtles, frogs, fish with an occasional gator after breeding season. Squirrels, armadillos, raccoons and opossums can be found without much effort. The staff is very friendly and hospitable. Almost all the people you meet in the park are very friendly, readily willing to share their life and RV experiences. The cost to stay in the park is very reasonable getting less expensive the longer your stay. Bathrooms, laundry facility, and the commons area are well kept but the grounds and some sites need more attention than they get. The only real downside is that there is no security. On several occasions there have been drunken physical confrontations, loud and angry arguments that might go on into the wee hours of the morning. Unbelievably loud motorcycle and auto traffic on the Park's roads and paths at unreasonable hours sometimes occurs. All such cases are dealt with, but not until after the fact, usually the following day. At night, there is no on-premises security to suppress uncivil behaviors. All-in-all staying here is very congenial and I would recommend it to others. But with my recommendation comes the provision that at times there is an uncomfortable downside.

The original site we were given was so sunken that we weren't able to open up the steps for our camper near the patio. Eventually we were moved to another site that was sunken but tolerable. We've never had this issue before, The second thing was the location of the sewer. It was pushed so far back. We needed to purchase an extension. Additionally, we have a toy hauler so when we we opened the door, we were basically hovering over it. The grounds did have a pool, very clean rest rooms and laundry. I didn't like that the laundry room didn't have detergent vending machines or a coin machine. It was inconvenient. In the end, the grounds were sufficient for us since we were just there at night to sleep. We were off with family during the day.

For the 2026 Fourth of July holiday, our family reserved adjoining RV sites and a nearby cabin at…read moreOcean Grove RV Park in St. Augustine Beach, Florida. One member of our group confirmed on June 30 that all of our reservations were paid in full. When we arrived on July 2, we were told by the general manager, April, that we had not "locked in" our reservations and that one of our adjoining sites had been given to another guest. We disputed this because our reservations had already been paid. Another employee, Ingrid, reviewed our reservation and stated that the site showed as paid. At that point, April ended the discussion and informed us that the adjoining sites were no longer available. As we attempted to explain our documentation, April said we were being disrespectful and called the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office. When the deputy arrived, we explained that we were willing to move our RVs but needed the gate code to maneuver them out of the park. The deputy confirmed that we had not been given the information needed to move and instructed the manager to provide it. Because we had receipts showing our reservations had been paid, we also requested an immediate refund before leaving. The deputy suggested that refunding our payment would be the quickest way to resolve the situation, and the refund was processed. The entire experience was stressful and disappointing, especially after planning our family holiday around adjoining campsites. We expected better communication and customer service, particularly after our reservations had been confirmed and paid. Seeing the Good Sam affiliation displayed at the park made the experience even more disappointing because it did not reflect the level of professionalism we expected.

Life is going along as usual and then this pandemic hits. The problem.... what do I do when I return to help protect my high risk family members from a potentially life threatening illness? One that I have been exposed to in caring for these patients. An illness that sometimes has no symptoms for weeks at a time. My troubles were laid to rest after an inquiry and short conversation with Micheline Fortier, the resort manager, at Daytona Beach RV Resort regarding the possibility of a short term rental to quarantine. Micheline and the staff at the resort were incredibly generous and informed me that they would have a cabin set up and ready for me upon my return and that they were refusing to take payment for my 2 week stay as a thank you. I was blown away! Thee staff at the resort were extremely helpful and accomadating as my travel schedule changed several times due to fluctuations in the caseload out west. I was expecting a small cabin with bare necessities upon my arrival but was again blown away with the accommodations! It was one of about 20 in a group of beautiful, brand new, modular home type cabins. The unit was stocked with all essential linens, plate ware, furniture, and appliances. I spent most evenings relaxing on the fan cooled, furnished front porch. The park was quiet. Clean and the other guests were all friendly and fun. What I thought was going to be a drudging 2 week quarantine turned out to be a peaceful staycation retreat and I was really sorry to let the cabin go at the end of my stay. I will definitely be recommending the accommodations here to friends, family, and other traveling professionals in the future. At one time, this used to be a very nice park to come for a family picnic and perhaps a kayak ride…read moreon the river. Now, they have eliminated the grills from the family picnic areas. There are very large grills at the pavilions and grills out family picnic areas that are not near the water and do not have views. The picnic area we had to settle on was in a Sandy clearing with too much sun. The grill could not be turned to adjust the flow of smoke. We drove 40 minutes to get here and paid the five dollar entry fee thinking that we would get the same thing we got last time we were here... Unfortunately, even though the picnic tables are new, they are filthy too sunny and little compensation for the lack of grills and views. It is a real shame. They have bathroom facilities, boat, launch facilities, and so many other nice things, and they choose to eliminate the grills.
