We arrived Maui two days ago & immediately planned to explore Maui in the the shortest time so we took a helicopter tour that was the most recommended & best value in time & budget. We arrived in time & then everything was ready & clear they explained to us the safety procedures and rules which was very helpful. Be sure to remember your seat number it is a must when you get in line to the ride. The receptionist Lu Nae , pilot Christina & the assistant Jennifer were amazing & helpful & funny the brought the sun to owe day Besides the wonderful one of a kind ride that will be remember for the rest of our life as a family celebrating in this Holiday. My friend and I had such a great experience with pilot Chrissy (five stars) and the Sunshine ground crew that I sent my mother and her partner the next day. While they enjoyed the flight, their pilot (Simon?) didn't share much if any information during the tour which is such a shame. Chrissy was not only skilled but knowledgable and warm. She pointed out different aspects of Kauai including coffee farms, Steve Case's ranch, and much more. I wanted that experience for my mother and didn't completely get it. BTW the Whisper Star is a very smooth ride - highly recommend it. read more

This was an amazing once in a lifetime experience. So thankful that I was able to experience this with my sister. Just letting you know, you must pay for parking and as they say, "don't press the yellow button." Lol You'll know what I mean. The whole staff was amazing. Luann was so helpful and handled everything as a pro. It was just her running the front desk bcuz the other worker is on vacation. As a reminder, do not bring purse or any loose items. Spencer was an excellent pilot and loved his information on the flight because it was so informative. I would definitely recommend this to everyone. read more

The ride was beautiful and scenic. The only thing I was disappointed with was the sound system. We could not hear/understand the pilot very well and neither could the pilot hear/understand the questions we asked. So, the commentary could definitely have been better. We could see everything but not hear everything. read more

This was my first experience riding in a helicopter, and wow! The experience is amazing and I am not sure there is any other helicopter tours that would come close. We saw some of the best sights including ones that were filmed in Jurassic Park. Yes, these sights were surreal. And it wouldn't be a complete Hawaiian experience unless our pilot flew in sandals. Easy to get to the hanger. The check-in staff were very friendly and made us feel comfortable as we prepared for our tour. Uncle John was our pilot. He provided a LOT of detail during the tour and showed us multiple waterfalls, flew into the inner parts of the island. We REALLY liked that he took the opportunity to maneuver the chopper so riders on BOTH sides could see what he was talking about! I've been on other helicopter rides before- they don't normally do this! Be aware that it CAN be (aka IS) turbulent in some parts of the ride- it isn't the pilot's fault. It's just a fact. Wind sheer is a reality in the Hawaiian islands. PS Pay the extra money for the group picture and for the cockpit video/outside video. I wish we knew about this BEFORE the ride so I wouldn't have Taken so many videos and pictures myself during the ride. I would have just soaked it all in. Thank you Sunshine Helicopters read more

Have to say this was the highlight of my trip! My first time in a helicopter and the pilot Carlos and all the employees made us feel welcome, safe and comfortable. Carlos was very knowledgeable and shared lots of history about the island while in the air. We flew over the rainforest and saw beautiful waterfalls, saw the volcano and the road to Hana and the coastline was beautiful. It's well worth the money, highly recommended! read more

Being cold was just a small sacrifice to pay for the absolute beautiful creations you will see well up in the aircraft. We chose the road to Hana and what a treat! The 3 other people did not show so we got a private tour with our pilot Josh. Josh was safe, informative, and made my wife feel at ease for her first time! Josh took us through canyons for awesome waterfalls, over the coral reef, and whale watching on our way back. By far worth every penny! When we returned the staff was very helpful and we learned of a new breakfast place called Baked on Maui. It was off the beaten path and a perfect recommendation. He let my wife fly the plane for about 5 minutes, which was super cool of him. The flight was absolutely a must do if you have the opportunity and the funds. You will never see a sunset quite like the sunset over Maui from a plane. It was the most beautiful sunset ever. And I have seen many sunsets in many locales. The experience was top notch, the pilot was A+++++ and the night was truly incredible as our newly met Colorado friends stated it would be. I cannot recommend Maui Plane Rides enough, the experience was truly like nothing we've ever done before.

After the flight, I requested a partial refund because we only received about half of the promised tour. The pilot then claimed he had warned us that weather would prevent us from seeing several locations, which simply isn't true. I understand that weather can affect flights, but customers should be clearly informed when major parts of the advertised experience won't be delivered. Poor communication and misleading expectations made this a frustrating experience.

Due to a scheduling issue we were also in a bit of a time crunch and he did a great job tailoring our route to make the most of our time. Thank you another amazing experience and motivating me to become more current now that I'm home - if I had an instructor like that here I'm pretty sure I'd be punching through a lot of ratings. Looking forward to flying with Maui Aviators again!

We have been sending boxes of flowers to Maui for a very long time now and I do realize that humans luggage comes before freight or packages on a first come first serve basis but let me say again if you can text when it arrives you also (although you told me that there is no way to do that if it is delayed heard you loud and clear) then please let your company know that as customers we need to be informed of delays. These boxes were perishables: crown flowers 6000 of them, that just sat at the airport, and our recipient on Maui was waiting for them. Again, I apologize, but you left me hanging on a phone call and did not answer me. That is unacceptable. If I had to give you a 0, I would. It was an honor to see how this small farm is maintaining the heritage and history after the large corporations have abandoned the islands. The pineapple they grow is absolutely delicious and I appreciated the opportunity to learn more about it. Our tour guide was Brian, and he was extremely funny and engaging throughout. We took a short ride from the general store, which is where you check in, up to the farm to see the various stages of growth. We learned how the pineapples are harvested and I have a newfound respect for the amount of work it takes to grow a single pineapple. The highlight for me was learning how to properly cut a pineapple, which I thought would be no easy feat, but once you know how to do it, it is extremely simple. Sampling the pineapple out in the Maui sunshine was the cherry on top. I highly recommend coming to take this tour and if not, at least stopping by the store to purchase some fresh pineapple or other pineapple related products.

If you went on any of their tours they also give you a free poster to hang on your wall. They have a dolphin, whale and sea turtle poster. Unfortunately all of their sea turtle posters ran out so I got a dolphin one because I got to see Spinner Dolphins on my tour.

So, we signed up on their website, which is required. Tour groups are limited to 25 people, so it won't be crowded. We met outside the Kihei Library. Keith was there, eager to get to know us and we got to know each other. Keith is a fountain of information and had a notebook of visual aids to share with us. We had a short walk through Kalama Park and learned lots of the history of Kihei, back through the time of the Hawaiian kingdom, during World War II and the present day. The mystery of the life size Humpback Whale statue was solved. Who made it? How did it wind up here? Who adds a giant lei to it twice a year? My favorite part was learning about the Maps of the Mokupuni, and finding our Ahupua'a and Moku. The tour ended with a beautiful sunset from the seawall at Kalama Park. Please don't forget to tip your nice tour guide!
