This morning commenced the undisputed highlight of our trip: a three-island aerial spectacle courtesy of Maverick Helicopters. Our 11:00 AM departure was aboard an EC-130, configured for four passengers plus one additional pilot from Maverick who was aboard purely as an observer to gain route familiarization. Reassuringly, he remained a passenger throughout--no hands on the controls, just enjoying the view like the rest of us. The ground crew delivered impeccable service: warm welcomes, streamlined procedures, and not a single indication that we were about to star in an unsolicited adventure film. For my wife, this marked her very first helicopter flight. She admitted to pre-flight nerves substantial enough to generate renewable energy. I, of course, congratulated myself on arranging this exhilarating vertical ascent. Fortunately, the moment we lifted off and the earth receded gracefully, her anxiety evaporated, giving way to unfiltered astonishment. The 75-minute flight enjoyed weather so flawless it seemed custom-ordered. Our pilot, Ethan--undisputed champion of the day and recipient of our profound gratitude--navigated us over Maui, Molokai, and Lanai with the serene authority of someone who unmistakably knew exactly what he was doing. We began with panoramic sweeps of West Maui and Kapalua, then crossed the Pailolo Channel for an intimate view of Elephant Rock--a geological formation resembling an elephant that clearly lost an argument with erosion. Circling Molokai, we admired the world's tallest sea cliffs (surpassing most personal regrets in height), ancient Hawaiian fish ponds, and the longest continuous fringing reef in the United States--nature flexing every possible asset. Next, we proceeded to Lanai's north shore and the aptly named Shipwreck Beach, featuring its photogenic WWII shipwreck that has been picturesquely deteriorating since 1944. Consider it the ocean's original unfinished project. The return over Maui--the Valley Isle--offered enchanting aerial perspectives of historic Lahaina, immaculate beaches, and verdant valleys. The finale routed us through the rugged West Maui Mountains: razor-sharp ridges capable of slicing envelopes, precipitous drops prompting existential reflection, concealed waterfalls engaged in eternal hide-and-seek, and the iconic Iao Valley resembling Mother Nature's grand cathedral. In a delightful cinematic twist, parts of this very West Maui mountain region--including remote valleys and waterfalls accessible only by air--served as stand-in shots for the helicopter approach sequence in Steven Spielberg's original Jurassic Park (1993). Due to a hurricane disrupting primary filming on Kauai, the production captured these lush, misty valleys on Maui to evoke the prehistoric wonder of Isla Nublar. Flying low through the hidden canyons felt uncannily like recreating that iconic arrival--minus the dinosaurs, thankfully, though Ilona half-expected a T-Rex to poke its head out from behind a ridge. The experience was breathtaking; the immense scale and beauty of Hawaii from above left us nearly speechless. Nearly--Ilona still produced a few delighted exclamations once assured we would not become the day's impromptu attraction. 5 "Keopuka Rock (Jurassic Rock) on Maui, featured in the original Jurassic Park helicopter scenes." Following a flawless landing (no theatrics or spontaneous applause required), we expressed heartfelt thanks to the crew, captured the mandatory "we survived" photographs, and departed buoyed by adrenaline and a touch of lingering dizziness. Thanks Team Maverick for a wonderful experience.

Once in a lifetime experience! My family of four had the best time on the rainforest experience with Felix as our pilot. Our flight was absolutely breathtaking and I loved landing in the rainforest and having champagne! We got to pick passion fruit and star fruit and see some really cool plants and trees. We saw so many incredible water falls and the road to Hana. Our pilot was so knowledgeable and showed us some cool stuff like the tree from The Lion King and some locations from Jurassic Park. I would highly recommend this experience as is one that you will never forget. Thank you Maverick Helicopters!

We had an amazing time today on the Hawaiian Odyssey tour! Jake was our pilot and tour guide and we felt super safe the whole time and he was a great driver. The route was gorgeous and thankfully we got just the right weather to see all the spots that sometimes have to be skipped due to wind or cloud cover. Website was very clear for booking and we appreciated the clear language around weight restrictions. Another helicopter company had some weird things about combined weight that had us confused, but Mavericks policy of under 300 per person was straightforward and easy to work with.

    Great views.

What a top notch experience we had with an excursion from Maverick. A one hour ride over Maui, and the Island of Malakai. Our pilot Ethan was awesome. Played great music that really helped accentuate the experience. I can't recommend this experience enough.

We chose to do the Rain Forest tour and we were not disappointed! We seen the most beautiful sights! We had Jake as our pilot and we felt completely safe and Jake was very informative while giving the tour. And hello...mimosas in the rainforest! I loved that as we were flying by waterfalls he you make sure to flip the helicopter around so that the other side could get a view of it also. And you get to hear "Danger Zone" while flying

Our captain was awesome! The whole team was great and helpful from calling to book through the entire flight process. The views from the sky were amazing and unlike anything you see on land. So glad I had this experience and Maverick made it a wonderful first time flight experience!

I'm about to take a Birthday ride across the waterfalls and mountains.

Wowww what an experience! If you want to get upclose and personal with the different islands this is it! I couldn't think of a better place to be on my birthday. You can see several waterfalls up close. We flew across the mountains and water. The pilot gives you an educational history while doing so. His name was Eddie. We also got to see parts of the mountains that can only be seen while flying. He stated even the hikers wouldn't see those views. The helicopter is seated for seven passengers. So be prepared to meet new people. They also take a photo before boarding that you can purchase. Which we did!! Definitely a must do if you're visiting or live in the Maui area.

    Super comfortable seats very secure!
    Mike C.

Just make sure you do not get the back right location. Seems like the front or back left are better locations. But nothing negative to say, everything is super tight. Staff is really friendly. We bought a bunch of gear and thought it was a fantastic journey.

    Trevor C.

The views are absolutely amazing but being weighed prior to the flight and being put in the back in the only seat that was farther forward than the rest was a little disappointing. Even though I was able to see some amazing views my photo opportunities were extremely limited.

We have flown with maverick before in Las Vegas so we already had an amazing experience with them in the past. We did look at the other companies but it was a no brainer for us. They have very well kept helicopters and great pilots. We got into the air fairly quickly and the check in experience was a breeze. There's a short safety briefing then you're off in the sky. The views on this whole trip were completely breathtaking. You can't even describe or picture how beautiful everything was. You just have to experience it. For how windy it is there is very little turbulence on the helicopter. Even though we didn't wear our headphones we could tell the pilot was being very informative with the other passengers. Overall this is a must do experience to truly get in all the beauty that Maui and the surrounding islands have to offer.

This trip was specifically for my son who is wheelchair bound and he made sure that everything we did revolved around my son having the time of this life. We learned lots about the area, laughed till we cried and felt like we met our new best friend on Maui. I really wanted to be present with my group so the fact that Henry captured photos and took videos of the day was the main reason I chose him. We received both within a couple days and have shared the video and photos to everyone in our lives. To say this was a magical, amazing experience doesn't sum it up enough but if you are reading this, don't hesitate, BOOK WITH HIM NOW!

Traveling solo, it feels weird to take selfies everywhere or worse, asking someone to take your photo. The tour was me and 2 other couples: one couple were newlyweds and the other couple were on their very 1st trip together (as a couple). (Honestly where do you go after a trip to a Hawaii?!?) We could not have had a group that meshed BETTER than all of us. Our guide Henry clearly knew "the good spots" because we didn't stop anywhere that anyone else was... he made us climb down treacherous "root ladders" and walk through the coldest water up to our necks but his ideas were always SO worth it. And he captured the best pics! I highly recommend this EXACT excursion because you don't have to worry about any photos. He has it covered, and trust me, it's truly UNFORGETTABLE!!!

In response to the owners lies - (Original reviews in…read morephotos. Yelp said I reached my character limit capacity. Added more photos for our proof). There was no one else on the tour except one couple, whom we had no issues with. The 7 people on the bus was my family of 5 and one couple. 1. There was a hiccup in your booking system, you allowed us to book a tour because you did not close your online reservation window. If you were sold out why did the website allow us to make a reservation? Hence the "hiccup". After we booked the tour, we did move a flight around so this person could make the tour that we had a confirmation email for. Very unprofessional to email the next morning saying you were sold out AFTER we made the booking. Yes we did book late but if you were sold out you shouldn't have allowed us to make the booking plain and simple. We called multiple times because we were asking about pick up arrangements and were told to keep calling back to see when/if the tour filled up, because only then would they be able to tell us what pick up rotation we would be in. I wanted to know what hotel would be the first pick up, etc. I didn't care that our two parties were not on the same bus, which was why I didn't mention it in the booking. 2. Since you claim to have the proof that he wasnt speeding, why dont you show it? It absolutely does corroborate with the Google maps picture. I did move the camera to get a video of how bumpy the bus was DUE TO HOW FAST THE DRIVER WAS SPEEDING! But I'll include another video straight ahead where you can see how fast he flies past the mountain. As for your lies, you need to come up with better ones. I asked for a Spanish translator due to the fact only ONE person in our party spoke Spanish. The fact that you guys said we were speaking Spanish all day is hilarious because NO ONE IN OUR PARTY SPEAKS SPANISH except my mother in law, who didn't speak the whole trip. Let's add more proof that you guys are racist - when the driver picked us up II asked about the Spanish ear piece translator before my mother in law was there. The driver said no, he said I speak a little Spanish so I will do my best to speak to help you guys out. 5 minutes later he came up to my husband and started speaking Spanish. My husband told the driver he speaks ENGLISH. Louie said oh you were quiet miguel so i figured you were the spanish speaker. we were asking about translation for my mother in law. I'll also add he made multiple claims about how Latinas were "so violent" and people had to watch out for us. let's add to the review that not only are you guys liars, you are racist liars. Your tour driver is a liar, we were all sleeping on the drive back due to how sick/tired we were. Your tour driver is clearly lying to cover his mistakes. 3. We didn't ask the tour driver for ONE illegal thing AT ALL. Due to the fact he was an arrested convict (which you can find proof of by googling it) he made illegal stops on his own! He even mentioned how the rangers loved him and when HE chose to make the illegal stop in front of the waterfalls, the ranger allowed it bc they told him make it quick. We appreciate the opportunity but never asked him for one illegal stop. 4. I never said we missed anything, I said I couldn't help but wonder if we missed something. Since you want to be so detailed, we actually DID miss Ohe'o Gulch / Seven Sacred Pools (D) Charles Lindbergh's Grave / Palapala Hoomau Church Kipahulu scenic ocean views, St. Joseph Church Kaupo Ranchlands / Haleakala backside views / Maui's Last Lava Flows (D) Maui's Upcountry / Kula (S) 6. The entire tour WAS my family. Let me also add one thing I forgot to the review someone in your company gave our tour guide my number and he texted me twice asking me for his tip which was EXTREMELY unprofessional. This is an extreme safety violation. He unprofessionally texted me "This ***** Just making sure I did venmo right.. If sent tip, I have not recieved..." at 7:27pm. And "If you could let me know.." at 7:56pm. For my safety, I should NEVER have received text asking about a TIP! Even if he was wondering about the tip because he wasn't used to electronics, you still should never text someones personal cell phone number. Since he did mention multiple times that he was a liability I was scared he was going to show up to our hotel since he knew my number, hotel location, etc. Where is the response to the bulk of my review??? Do you have an explanation for how we know all this information about him being fired from his last tour job? How the current owner was only allowing him to drive as a fill in driver as a favor? Why was he a liability? Bc he speeds and risks the lives of passengers? In one of my videos I do have him talking about the story of how his dad gave him money and guns to illegally transport. As I have over 500 videos from this tour, you guys are lucky I don't want to go through and find the hard proof I have. Where is your hard proof?

His driving was calm, smooth, and confident, and we felt completely safe the entire time getting there and back. He knew exactly where to stop, paced the day perfectly, and took us to some truly stunning spots. It rained most of the day for us, which is just part of being in the rainforest, but it didn't take away from the experience at all. Genaro kept the energy positive, fun, and engaging throughout the long day. He's very personable and genuinely enjoyable to spend time with. Among the stops along the way were Maui Tropical Plantation for breakfast, Auntie Sandy's Banana Bread stand for those that wished to purchase, Wai'anapanapa State Park (black sand beach, also with a lava tube and a blow hole), Pua'a Ka'a State Wayside Park (usually calm enough to swim but the falls were roaring due to rain earlier in the day), and Ho'okipa Beach with turtles on the beach. Travis was an excellent driver and guide. We got great value from the cost of the excursion. One minor thing did bother us. We are Jewish and were uncomfortable during the praising Jesus sing-along. Regardless, we recommend this tour and especially Travis as a guide.

This was my second "Road to Hana" tour. I won't review the places the tour stopped at or visited. I…read morewill review the tour company and the services. Pickup was on time although they text us that morning saying the pickup would be 5-10 minutes early. While I appreciated the company's responsiveness in honoring my special seating request, our front (first) row seats on the bus labeled "Alaka'i" had a very narrow window that required us to strain our necks to see the views outside. I noticed that the other three Valley Isle buses on tours that day did not appear to have this issue. I provided the company feedback regarding this seating issue. In our humble opinion, these seats should not be sold. My advice: to avoid the kind of disappointment we experienced, you should always ask for seat reservations and note clearly and specifically to the company that you do not want the first row seats on a bus with seating configuration like Alaka'i's. If you don't and you are picked up last, you will risk getting stuck in these seats from sunrise to sundown. Regarding the amenities, the breakfast was underwhelming, consisting only of a pre-arranged plate of a few pieces of fruit and 2 small muffins. The driver did remind us this was going to be a continental breakfast. There are many versions of continental breakfast but this one truly disappoints. Additionally, the lunch provided, though delicious, was not from the "world-famous" Huli Huli chicken location as the guide led everyone to believe; instead, the guide brought pre-packaged boxes of food from another source. (Please see similar experience from earlier reviews.) My advice: feed yourself before they pick you up or bring something more fulfilling to eat on the bus between breakfast and lunch. Finally, while our driver was incredibly knowledgeable about Maui's culture and history, his demeanor was sometimes overbearing. He frequently called out guests for yawning or dozing off and insisted on undivided attention during his occasional politically biased historical recount. All this made part of the tour experience feel more like a classroom than a tour. He also ridiculed all the not-so-nice reviews he has received. He will probably tell you about this one, too. So buyers beware: your Valley Isle guide could be a bit too much fun for you. :-)

So happy we found this amazing experience. I really wanted to check out a farm in Maui but all the…read morepopular tours were booked up. I found Coconut Information and thought it was a great fit because our group loves coconuts! Ryan was so passionate and knowledgeable not only about coconuts but also conservation and sustainability - we were all amazed at the work he put in for his farm. It was so lush with all types of fruit trees and produce - we even saw baby ducks that had hatched just the day before. The experience was a farm tour, educational workshop, coconut tasting, and cooking class all rolled into one. We really enjoyed learning about the multi-faceted coconut and about Ryan's journey with the farm. The coconut noodles he made us were SO GOOD. Seriously blew our minds and can't wait to make it at home and share with others. Truly a fun, inspiring, and educational experience. We couldn't stop raving about it after we left. Ryan even sent us home with a "4-pack" of coconuts so we could have some fresh coconut water for the rest of our trip. Highly recommend - please go check it out!
