We go to Sunshine Farm frequently and really like it. Their ice cream is great! During busy times, there can be a line to get ice cream, but that is true anywhere. It's worth any wait to us. There are picnic tables outside where people can sit. Their fresh in-season produce inside the store is always excellent -- corn, berries, etc. We love their homemade pies that they make -- apple, blueberry, cherry, peach, raspberry, and strawberry rhubarb. Crust is very good and the filling is not overly sweet. They are expensive but worth it as a treat. We have purchased plants there and no complaints. (They have seasonal pick-your-own fruit, but we have not done that so can't comment.) read more

Friday afternoon, only one person serving ice cream. Prices are high, staffing not appropriate. In fairness the sole employee (likely a a HS student) was running the show very nicely and apologizing for the service. The line has been 3, 4 and 5 deep consistently. One HS kid generating strong revenue for a deadbeat owner. There were extra employees in the overpriced farm store, but no one saw fit to offer up assistance to the ice cream shop. By far the best orange pineapple ice cream around I've tried several around nothing compares to sunshine farms. Came here one week night poor girl was left alone around 8:30pm two people in front of me, I was about to get 4 pints to take home then all sudden 10 people pull up I was like holy crap I felt bad she scooped her heart out and showed it and never gave up and smiled gave her a $10. Tip for her hard scooping that's dedication. And I made sure everyone saw that I gave her a good tip for her hard work and I bet she served every single person in that line even though they were closing. Now that's service I hope everyone shows these hard working kids respect. Because there are a lot of lazy ones out there. The worst experience I ever had on the farm, My daughter an U went to Sunshine to pick strawberries. We always go to Tougas farm but I did not have time to drive there. At the farm store, we told the employee that we wanted to pick 4 quarts of strawberries for $40. On the board, it said 2 quarts $25, 4 quarts $40. But I asked for 2 boxes. The Woman told me that I have to buy only 1 box, can not be split. I paid $40 and walked to the field, about 15 minutes. When we got to the field, the employee informed me that 2 people can not pick strawberries to 1 box that we need to buy additional box to enter the field. They did not have any boxes to purchase there. I had to walk back to the front store, buy another box and walk back to the field. I am sorry, but that almost an hour of my time wasted. Plus aggravation of poor customer service. When I got to the store and asked for a refund, because I did not pick any strawberries, i was pointed to the board, where is said no refund. I was handled in the most rude way, wasting $40 of my hard earned money. Sunshine farm provides very poor customer service and lacking human factor. I will never go there again. I will be driving extra 30 minutes to Tougas farm, where employees are always happy to see you, care about customers and their business. It offers so much more! read more

Only one person working at the window and many patrons ordering and waiting. I waited 20 minutes in line and I ordered a regular regular size waffle cone with butter crunch and Jimmy's. The person at the window had to ask me three times what I ordered. The butter crunch ice cream had only one piece of candy in it and the rest of it was just ice cream. My family and I love to come here with my dog whenever the ice cream is in season. Lots of benches so you can sit even when it's crowded, quick service compared to other ice cream shops that often take forever to get orders out. The view is beautiful and very chill. On a beautiful day, while we were out for our daily walk, we decided to take a different path and it led us to this place. A friend had suggested me to try the ice cream here but it took me very long to do it. But, finally, I am glad I did! The ice cream flavors are rich and some of the best I have had until now. I am confident that they have a flavor for everyone. We tried 1) Mango and 2) Orange Pineapple. Both were delicious! Plus its not expensive at all. They have strong and nice wooden benches outside where you can sit and enjoy the ice cream while looking at the vast farmland and listening to the chirping birds. I saw lot of flowers as well. If it's packed of people, it must be good!! We stopped by as a reward from the bike ride "on top of the hill, there's ice cream"!! Ever since, this place has been my go to place for ice cream all summer long!! The ice cream is the best of the best!! I love the vanilla chocolate chip!! The chocolate chips in the ice cream are huge and crunchy!! Every bite was awesome!! Perfect to pair with a waffle cone!! The waffle cone was crunchy as well!! Avoid the pick your own fruit. Our family had 4 people - 2 adults, 2 teens that wanted to pick apples and peaches and we were forced to buy a very large 2 peck $45 bag, or 2 smaller 1 peck $30 bags. The website said they were still picking peaches, however they were not (which is why we went there in the first place). Once we got in the orchard much of it was fenced off and the rows that were open had apples that were not ripe. We decided $45 for unripe apples was outrageous so we went back to the farm stand and the woman at the register refused to refund us. So many nicer and friendlier places with good fruit that are the same price or even less. read more

I loved this place as a kid. It was always a treat to come on a hot summer and get an ice cream on their farm. I have been more disappointed recently by the quality of the ice cream. Their fruit-based ice creams all taste artificial. However, I still do enjoy their chocolate and other flavors. They have a really good frappe. I do still enjoy the scenery. The prices are on the steep side but the ice cream is full of flavor. The kiddie size cup of Ginger had small pieces of ginger mixed in and had a strong robust punch. I've tasted other ginger ice creams and they pale in comparison. About 20 years ago this place was AMAZING. Now, bad - awful - worse. We did the coop CSA and the veggies were FILTHY. Just poor quality and often times unwashed. You can buy cheaper and better at Market Basket. Now they charge a fee for going into the field where to pick the berries, plus the picking fee - it is just about squeezing whatever money they can get in any way they can get it. At one time they had lovely green houses. Now, poorly cared for, and as the season goes on they just die off. If you want to see the lovely green houses like in the pictures get there early in the season... they won't look like that for too long. Kids run the ice cream counter and are often on their phones, not paying attention, or just lazy and not too caring. It used to be a joy to go there. But, now not so much. It is just a sad reflection of how it used to be. They'll take your money and even provide porta-potty... you know the stinky plastic construction site bathrooms. NO decent indoor bathrooms. Disgusting. It is just so sad because it used to be really nice... but, these owners seem entitled - as if they are providing you the favor at a fee for coming there. read more

Usually rate higher but I can't stand when any business starts to shut down early just so the workers can leave. If your hours say you're open until 9pm, then you should be ready to serve anything and everything on your menu until then. I went on Sunday night at 8:30pm and couldn't get a milkshake because they had already cleaned the machine. I passed several other ice cream places to go there because we like their location and products. I went without rather than get something I didn't want. Next time you might want to put a sign saying "limited menu" or just close early. Or you could just serve what you're supposed to and clean the machines after hours. read more

This is an amazing local farm. The CSA has been amazing over the last several years. The quality of the vegetables and fruit are outstanding. Having locally grown produce available especially during COVID has been incredible. It was evident that the farm, the owners and the staff worked very hard to keep people safe for those who came to pick strawberries, blueberries, peaches and apples. The farm never disappoints. This is the place of my childhood, having a meal and ice cream at the diner. This is the place of my adolescence, scooping ice cream for tips, running the pick your own strawberries, and being confused as part of the Geoghegan family. A lot of things have changed since those times - new building with a designated farm stand, more pick your own options, a more farm focused menu, more goodies to take home (think pies and jams). But still the raspberry lime rickeys (with soda water - as they are meant to be) are the best, the family-run feeling is still there, and the ice cream is still great. I do wish there was a better bathroom situation - currently there is only a port-o-potty that was pretty gross. read more

Wanted to pick a few peaches. Most places let you do 1/2 a peck for about $10. Here you must get a full peck for $25 plus a $2 per person entry fee. If they are afraid that a family of 10 will traipse around for a 1/2 a peck and eat 20 peaches along the way, then limit the number of people that can do 1/2 peck to 2 or 3. Anyway, that's my gripe. We wound up buying a few peaches at their farm stand. The ice cream by the way is commercial (Bliss I think), but not cheap. read more

Terrible experience. We've been to many you pick your own fruit farms this year and I've never experienced anything close to the treatment that we got at sunshine Farm! First of all they force you to buy way more fruit than you want, even considering that the blueberries were already picked over. Secondly, we saw one of their staff members run after and yell at another patron because she was bringing a small bag with water bottles for her toddlers into the field. It was 85° and sunny when we were there... Lastly, despite no one having informed me and there being no rule posted about this, after we had paid and settled in with our baby we started to head down to the field and a staff member told us that there were no strollers allowed. Then, when I went to get my refund because there was no other way for us to carry the baby, one of the staff told me that I should not be bringing anybody under two to pick fruit. Don't tell me how to parent! Do not go to this farm unless you want measly blueberries, ride treatment, dehydration, and unwarranted parenting advice! read more

Extremely disheartened at my experience at this establishment today. Leadership comes from the top and it is clear to me that customer service is not a top priority at this establishment. To note: I have been here in the past for ice cream, and blueberry picking so was excited to see they were offering strawberry picking this year. Was looking forward to a day out with my 2 daughters to do something outdoors that encouraged social distancing. My daughters (2 & 4 yr. old) My experience: upon paying I asked if I could do the larger basket for my 2 year old and I and the smaller basket for my 4 year old. I was informed that everyone 2 and older must carry their own basket, so I had to purchase 3 separate. I did not think much of this and thought maybe it had some COVID regulations. While walking quite a distance to the crop a fellow mom warned me how hot it was and was surprised to see that I had to purchase a separate basket for my 2 year old as the website stated that 3 and over required their own basket. Needless to say , it was extremely hot and after the long walk my 2 year old picked maybe 5 strawberries. When we returned I asked the sales associate who checked me out about the website stating the age requirement of 3 and asked if I could have one of the pre packed pints considering the website stated 3 years old and my daughter barley picked any strawberries, she went to get her manager. I explained the situation to the manager and she very abruptly and rudely told me no. She said they were in the process of changing the website but there was nothing else she could do for me. I asked for her supervisor and was first told there was no one above her, then informed the owner is the one who would not authorize this. I asked to speak with the owner, simply to inform her of how abrasive I felt this manger had been to me. I was told the owner, was not available and busy doing the books. I offered to wait, as I would think as an owner you would want to know if a customer had a bad experience. After waiting the owner came out and was just, if not more unpleasant. I asked her name and the response was what do you want!?! I expressed my dissatisfaction and experience with her manager, she did not care. The owner said the website was not her fault but a typo from her IT team. Finally the owner said she was done with me and to give me the strawberries. The manager informed me I needed to learn some manners and then another sales associate very aggressive yelled and pointed get out. Informed me that if I don't get out they would call the cops. I could not believe this, really over strawberries! I said I could not believe what A$$holes they were abs was then told what a bad mother I was. The worst part about the whole situation it was In front of my 2 and 4 year old, who asked, mommy why were they mean to us and told us to get out when we were already leaving! It's not about the strawberries, honestly they were only $8 a pint and had my 4 year old not picked her own pint I would've returned them all. It's fine to make a mistake/ typo as a business but own it and be accountable. It takes nothing to be kind, courteous and simply create a positive experience. Every interaction big and small have relevance and speak to who you are. Maybe your business has suffered due to COVID, maybe I was just a mom trying to provide my daughters with some fun in these challenging times either way- I believe there was a better way for this company to handle this. Even if it was not giving me the strawberries, they could've listened and apologized for the confusion on the website vs. in store experience. We were going to stay for ice cream, buy more water and fresh veggies for dinner- my $24 could've easily been a $50 day to you but we went elsewhere. I encourage you think about the impression you left on my daughters. Out of the mouth of babes, my 4 year old said if someone is rude to you just walk away and never go near them again. Clearly you've lost my business, somehow I don't think you care but if you really in good faith feel a 2 year old should be paying for their own box then please change your website so that the next mom taking her kids out for a days fun doesn't have the same experience as I do. read more

I brought my daughter here 2 times this summer. If I were not watch my fat intake and the prices were a bit cheaper I would go more as it is almost walking distance from my home. Now the really good part the Ice Cream here is delicious !!! Very creamy you can tell it is true Ice Cream homemade. I noticed a sign for vegetables and the corn looked amazing. This place is a ripoff. Went there yesterday to get pumpkins with the kids. Granted they have a lot of pumpkins and the kiddos had fun climbing all over them but $62 for four average size pumpkins is outrageous. What angered me even more was that I went to Home Depot right after the trip to the "farm" and found similar pumpkins for $7.98. These are extra large and didn't matter what the weight was. Lesson here? Don't let the sunshine blind you when you can get more for your dollar at Home Depot. Oh. And the kids had a blast climbing on the pumpkin pile there too. read more

Most delicious ice cream in the area. I love their peppermint stick ice cream in a waffle cone with chocolate sprinkles. And the view from their picnic tables can't be beat. We usually see deer off in the distance. My Google map says it closes earlier than it does, so if you want ice cream it may be good to check their actual website or call. Just echoing the sentiments of a lot of people on here. We just moved to the area and wanted to do something fun before it got cold. Saw this farm and decided to stop in. Had my 2 and 5 year old with me and a friend visiting (total of 5 people). We asked to get one bag for apples and were told because we were in 5 we had to buy one large bag ($45!!!!!!) AND one small ($30) in order to be let on the farm! $75 for apples which were selling inside the stand for $8. The lady at the desk was having a really bad day so we paid and went to the 7 rows we were told were open to us.... PICKED CLEAN! Not a single apple on the trees we were told to pick from. Turned back refunded and left. Waist of time and these people don't care. Add good customer service and honesty to the long list of things COVID has taken from us. $7 for not even a full scoop!!! We went to sunshine today and as much as I wanted to give this place a higher score, I just have to stick with one star. We ordered a standard Sundae it consisted of an 8 ounce plastic cup, one scoop...scratch that, about a 1/2 scoop of ice cream, some chocolate sauce and some nuts. The price for almost nothing? $7.00!!! They were even considerate enough to make sure that the cup was filled just to the edge and nothing more (yes this is sarcasm). The last four visits to the Sunshine Farm I met with employees who seemed very put out at my having arrived at their destination. Apparently, having to come into the retail area and actually interact with customers was never a part of their job description. I have yet to find someone who could tell me anything about the products including what's in the bakery goods - since there's no ingredient list; who packages their private label pickles and preserves - because they aren't making them, or even where certain produce was originally picked. The prices are high and often, the products are not 1st quality. Today the potatoes were almost uniformly green. Although I do believe in supporting farms, I don't think I'll be visiting them again very soon. read more

We decided to go to Sunshine Farm after their ice cream was mentioned in Boston Magazine. I had the bourbon carmel pistachio brittle ice cream and my husband had the coconut brownie cheesecake ice cream. Both flavors were very good. The farm itself offers many varieties of fruit and vegetables. Their homemade pies also looked delicious. I am so glad that Sunshine Farm is only a short car drive away as I will be back often! read more
