I don't play with donuts. I'm a donut-eating fool. Donuts are my thing. I have glaze running through my bloodstream. I've never eaten better donuts than the ones I got from Concannon's in Muncie. In fact, I'm planning another trip to Muncie JUST to visit Concannon's and get some donuts. What's a two-hour round-trip drive when you can be rewarded with amazing donuts during your journey? I visited Concannon's by myself, and although I wanted one of each of the donuts they had in the bakery case, I limited myself to three donuts: a glazed pretzel-shaped yeasted donut, a blueberry cake donut and an old fashioned donut. My go-to at any donut shop is usually a glazed twist, but they don't have glazed twists here! Instead, they have a glazed pretzel-shaped donut, which turned out to have all of the elements of a glazed twist, but it was just bigger and more twisty. It was amazing, pillowy, slightly sweet and even more delicious when you pull it apart with your fingers and eat it bit by bit. The blueberry cake and old-fashioned donuts were my favorites, though. These melted in my mouth, especially the old-fashioned. It was so tender and fresh. The old-fashioned is one of those kinds of donuts that I wish I enjoyed with some coffee, but instead, I ate it solo while dancing around delightedly in my hotel room. Concannon's has lots of other sweets, desserts and baked goods, like cakes (including mini cakes and individual cake slices), cookies, whoopie pies, chocolates, popcorn, candies and all sorts of other goodies. There is also a cafe with coffee and other beverages available. This is a must-visit if, like me, you love donuts, but also a must-visit in general because it's such a Muncie institution.

This place is amazing! One day I'll expand my horizons and try something new, however i love the…read moremaple bacon donut from here, it is the definition of perfect savory and sweet!

My experience may be because I was part of a large group of ladies, the service was slow but friendly. It also seemed a bit chaotic. Everyone complained of the parking as well but I did not have that issue as I always get to where I am going early and I found it easy to park in the extra lot behind the building. Apparently there is a place across the street from the building where you can also park. We were there at 1pm so lunch was on the agenda. I decided to forgo a regular meal and just get the cake flight, after all they are a bakery and I should try their best! I ordered a regular iced tea (no sugar) to go along with my cake. The cake flight I chose was the C.J.'s Vanilla Almond Buttercream (Wedding Cake), Dorothy Blevin's Cake, and the Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Buttercream. It was a good choice for lunch although if I go back I will just get the cake that I really liked out of the 3. Maybe next time also I will try the chicken salad croissant and the chicken velvet soup. I think my experience will be better next time outside of a big group. My favorite cake of the 3 was the Dorothy Blevin's Cake as it was unique with a denser texture than the others and it had pecans, pineapple, and a caramel topping. I thought the almond cake was a bit cloyingly sweet and the almond tasted pretty artificial, the chocolate was not chocolate enough for me if that makes sense. Maybe needed to be a little darker chocolate and richer but if you are looking for something lighter that may be your thing. Overall I will go back and try this bakery/cafe again and hopefully will have a better experience and I will order a full lunch next time.

If you place an on-line order by Wednesday, Rustic Crust provides "Free Delivery" to your home that Friday. (Free delivery to Hamilton County, IN). So far, I've sampled the White Parmesan, Light Rye, and Jalapeno Sharp Cheddar Sourdoughs. We have also ordered the Brazilian Cheese Bread (the wife's favorite). My favorite, so far, is the Parmesan Sourdough, although, I must say, the Sharp Cheddar Jalapeno is amazing. (Pic below). I especially love the crisp golden crust of these sourdoughs. This Friday, I am looking forward to my first loaf of White Olive Sourdough. Rustic Crust / Luv Bakery creates their products with high-quality and natural ingredients. You can taste the love and freshness in each bite. I've sampled many sourdoughs during my travels across the United States, and I'd definitely rank Rustic Crust / Luv Bakery in the "top tier" for authenticity, taste, freshness, and quality. I highly recommend Rustic Crust / Luv Bakery. Give this place a try.

After shopping high and low…read morefor a perfect cake with an affordable price for my wedding, I was referred to Amy and her fabulous delectable cakes. There are LOTS of cake places in the Indy area that CLAIM to have the best tasting cakes, and having been in about 27 flippin' weddings myself, I have tasted a lot of these so called "best cakes". Well, none of them lived up to Amy's cake, which was moist, gorgeous and even wonderful a YEAR later on my 1st anniversary. Might I also mention that she charges UNDER $2.00 a slice. This might make her SOUND cheap and therefore, might make you think that there are BETTER cakes out there b/c they are more expensive, but I beg to differ. The likes of other cakeries don't have have anything on Amy and her slices of heaven. First off, I ask her to do a chocolate drizzle on my cake. She had never done this but promised she would make it work. For months leading up to my event she would call to let me know she was "practicing". She also had other brides and grooms taste test MY cake to make sure it was progressing. Not only was my cake GREAT tasting but it was BEAUTIFUL!! I cannot say ENOUGH about this wonderful concoction that was my wedding cake. It was three layers of double chocolate and two layers of almond vanilla with white chocolate icing and dark chocolate drizzle. My (crappy florist) tossed in some pretty pink roses and we WON and award from "Real People Magazine" for Indiana's BEST cake!! For a whopping $320 total for a cake that served nearly 200 people, I could NOT have been happier. She even came the day of, cut my cake for me and put it together. It looked fantastic, tasted fantastic, was affordable and I could not have been a happier bride. I have since used her for birthday cakes, shower cakes and desserts of every sort!! Brides, do not choose those OTHER cake shops that constantly CLAIM to have the best cakes. Take yourself to small town Indiana and have a slice of heaven instead! You'll thank me later!

It was the perfect bread for our lunch. It was a French loaf, and though it didn't have any spices or seeds in it, it had so much flavor, and was super soft. It toasted up nicely, too. You can tell that the guy who makes the breads and cookies (yes, he makes cookies, too) is really passionate about what he does. He took the time to explain his process and what he puts into his loafs. I want to go back to the farmers market and buy one of his sweet breads next time.

The loaves have great texture, flavor and now I'm totally motivated to get to the Winter Market this weekend. I bought a jalapeño/bacon/cheese loaf and a garlic cheese loaf plus his signature bread. My advice is to get to the market early if you want bread, at 9:00 he was already selling out of items.

The raspberry pistachio croissant? Oh. My. God. This thing had me in a chokehold. Flaky, buttery layers with the perfect balance of tart raspberry and rich pistachio. It wasn't just good -- it was write-home-about-it good. The kind of pastry that makes you pause mid-bite and question every other croissant you've ever had. The second was a croissant sandwich (I wish I could remember the name!), but the way those flavors paired together? Let's just say it was a full culinary experience. Savory, balanced, indulgent -- you get the hint. Every bite just made sense. Now here's the part that really says something: I grew up on the East Coast where authentic French bakeries are everywhere and the cultural standard is high. I know a proper croissant. And this? This was better. Yes, I said it. We even had the chance to speak with the owner, who was incredibly warm and genuine. He checked in to make sure we enjoyed everything -- which we clearly did, considering we left with boxes to take home. This place isn't just a pastry shop. It's an experience. And trust me, it will be a topic of discussion in our house for days. Run. Don't walk.
