A few days prior to this review, Sunset Tree Care spent 2 days at my mother`s home trimming branches, cutting down trees, leaving oil sliicks and spots on her driveway and the walkway and the street, leaving white scrapes all over the white{ish} cement driveway, flattening a Maiden Grass bush, leaving deep gouges in the front, side, and back yards; and they convinced my 80-year-old mother that the Oak in the back yard was so far gone inside that it needed to be taken down {*it`s protected by a law that says Oaks ought not be removed unless they pose a hazard to the house - which it DIDN`T}. I took 52 photos of the DESTRUCTION left behind in the wake of "hurricane" Sunset Tree Care, because it`s been a week and they haven`t been back to clean up after themselves. read more

Chris did a good job on tree trimming and taking out a giant pine tree, and cleaned up behind the job- but he contracted out the stump grinder, who broke part of my driveway and left a mountain of stump grinding chips right where they fell, also burying part of my landscape lighting. I called him one month ago today and complained. He pointed out that yes, his own handwriting on his proposal said "Grind stump. Haul all debris"- but that the small print at the bottom of his form said "excluding stump grinding chips." He did not point the contradiction out to me at the time I signed. I told him one month ago that I took him at his word as handwritten. He told me in effect,"Too bad, mulch your beds with it.". My beds were already mulched with pine needles. I'm 89 years old and I would not knowingly have agreed to be left with that mammoth clean-up job. He also offered no relief for my broken driveway. read more

I have been a home owner in Jacksonville Florida for almost 20 years. I need tree work done every so often and Sunset Tree Care came to my neighbor house to do some tree work. They spoke to me about some work I needed but was waiting to do later in the year. They gave me the "hey since we are here pitch". As far as the cutting down of trees, work was good except for a couple of small snafus. When it came to clean-up, I had to call them back the next day. They cleaned up decently, but not near as good as some others I had hired in the past. My real problem is when it came to using their bobcat. They have a larger than usual bobcat and with it they really tore up my lawn. In some spots I have trenches a foot or more deep. I mentioned it to them more than once, but apparently I am on my own. Having a riding lawnmower makes it next to impossible for me to mow my lawn. Ratings: for tree cutting 4.5 out of 5, for clean-up 4 out of 5, and for repairing torn up lawn .5 out of 5. bikertom. read more

I contracted with SunsetTree Care for some minor tree trimming in early June. When sales manager Rob came to give estimate he pointed out some work that I should consider having before any major storms come. I had never noticed what he saw but a huge limb over my deck was beginning to rot. We came to terms on a price that I thought was reasonable and set a date for project to begin. Living in North Florida you just never know what the weather is going to be like. Because of several thunder storms my project was delayed several times. Rob was always concerned about the delays and called me several times apologizing for the weather delays. Vacation time came for Rob and my project was turned over to Justin. Justin is very professional and was totally tuned in to my issues. There were more weather delays but when he finally got here he brought an army of people and equipment to complete project. As we are walking the yard to review for some reason I felt compelled to get some other stuff done. Cost wise my project doubled and Justin was very understanding and quoted me a Very reasonable price. As the rain Gods would have it Sunset could not complete job that day. They needed to return the next day. They were here 1st thing the next morning to complete. The crew that actually did the work was very fine tuned as to who would do what. The team worked diligently and safely and project was completed in about 90 minutes. When they left my yard all debris was gone with them. Not a leaf was left on ground. I would highly recommend this company and will definitely use them when I need more work. I'm rating them only 5 stars because there are not any more! read more

Best Tree service around! Great price, nice and accommodating. We had multiple trees in our yard that needed to be removed and some trees cleaned up (trimmed branches etc) before hurricane season rolls around. They were very professional and got the job done in a timely matter. I didn't have to worry about a thing and they did a good job cleaning up and treated our property with respect and worked very safe while removing our water oak tree that was leaning over our house. Arrived Monday 5/11 asking if I needed tree service. I actually did need some so decided to see what they were offering. I talked over what I needed and they gave me the sales pitch (felt like a car dealer). Well it would be XXXX, but if you do cash we will lower it (basically 50% off). It seemed reasonable price so I agreed to the price. After doing some additional online research of the company I decided to cancel the request....no harm no foul. They then came back by Wednesday, with the "regional manager" in tow, to talk again and promised the other negative reviews I saw were being corrected. They knocked a little more off the cost and advised they would come by today around noon to perform the work. I again agreed somewhat reluctantly and yet here are.....4:47pm. Not a single call or any work. At this point I am at a loss for what kind of business runs its sales and operations in this fashion. I mean its just plain sad that I'm willing to do a decent price and they can't even do the work at this point. I'll be looking elsewhere for service. read more
