Peanut Butter & Jelly Wings

Food was amazing. Best steak I've had from any Restaurant. Our server Jody was great. Very friendly staff. 10/10 would recommend the PB&J wings.

Rare prime rib, with mashed and brussel sprouts.

This is a small, cozy place. There's not a lot of space, so it's easy to overlook. And because its in the casino between the hotel and the games, we forget this is local option for a special meal. They have daily specials, such as Sunday night's prime rib. The quality of our prime rib has been consistent in being good. Really great flavor, and tender enough to not need anything but a butter knife(at least mine was). All the sides are cooked with as much care as the entrees. That's always a wonderful surprise. Hats off to the chef and staff. If you come do check out the posted specials outside the door. Wish our bartender, who was great, had known about them.

STAY Away! I know…read morewhen I read reviews, it's helpful to have lengthy descriptions of the food and atmosphere. But I'm just not willing to spend more time typing than the cooks spent cooking my food. We tried this place twice -- once for dinner and again for the breakfast buffet. Both instances, the food was barely tolerable and my entire family walked away hungry rather than continuing to eat what we ordered. The Tamarack is inexpensive but I suspect its the only way they can get people to eat there. I'm not a snooty eater -- I love Waffle House and iHop for breakfasts but even the Tamarack was able to make breakfast food unpleasant (pancakes were crusty, ham was fatty, oatmeal was nearly solid, fruit was from a can, etc. etc. Do yourself a favor and avoid. On the second day we managed to find the Vermilion Club for dinner and SuLus in Tower for breakfast...both a welcome change from the Tamarack

All the entrees in the buffet were fresh, hot, and quite tasty. Only the bacon was overcooked, but a lot of people like it that way so it probably is not an issue. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Compared to the crappy expensive breakfast we had the day before at another local restaurant, for $5.95 this was a huge value! Compare that to your average mediocre-at-best chain restaurants. The dinner also was very nice with a large variety of fish, seafood, ribs, steak, chicken, etc. Everything we tried was very good including the fresh green beans. The salmon was excellent as was the catfish, the ribs were very good, the seafood was fried but of a good quality, the steak was surprisingly good, and the deserts were very very good. Nothing bad to say at all about this buffet for $11.95. The casino is just a typical smokey casino as you would find anywhere in the country.

All employees at the outfitter suggested Stony Ridge for epic burgers. So off we went. The restaurant is a very unassuming place. On the outside, it looks like a tiny diner, but on the inside, it is all hardwood, floors, walls, and ceiling, with a huge amount of seating area both inside and out. Our waitress was super friendly and happy. The menu amazed me though. There were 50 different burger options. Fifty! And there were 2 pages of other non-burger menu items. I was literally amazed at the choices. It took us all a long time to order because we wanted to read through every single burger option. (and it seemed that since we were at a known burger establishment, we should all order burgers) And I've been on this kick lately trying cheese curds almost everywhere they are offered, so we ordered those as well. They also had an extensive alcoholic drink menu, which after a week of camping, I wanted to try every single one of them.... but settled for ice tea instead. The burgers that came out were really good. They weren't epic though, which was sad considering how expensive they were. My entire family really liked their burgers, but all agreed they had had better elsewhere. The cheese curds were ok (I don't think I have had cheese curds anywhere yet that have impressed me) In general, we had a great experience and one would think that I would have given them a 5-star review. But there were a couple negatives that I just couldn't get over, to give them a top rating. The cost of each burger was around $20. That is a LOT for a 1/4lb burger. Also, and though I like dogs, there were two large breed dogs freely entering the establishment, and roaming around. This didn't really bother me at all, until one of them stood by my table, begging for expensive food.

The portions are SO generous, you will defiantly not leave hungry. Enjoyed sitting outside, we felt up in the trees. Great wait staff ! I'll be back!

This is a larger restaurant located right across from the Days Inn. We arrived pretty late, but even at 8PM on a Saturday everning, the place was packed. Luckily there was a table open and we were seated immediately. We ended up only getting one item to share because we had just eaten a ton of cherries and were not that hungry. The server was happy to accommodate. Fried Chicken Dinner ($20.99) - The dish first comes with a side salad, which since we decided to share, came split on two plates. It's a basic salad with some cucumber, iceberg lettuce, and shredded cheese, and is served with two whole small cups of dressing. Our choice was Ranch, which is surprisingly delicious. It's slightly tangy with that classic Ranch taste. It's served cold and is clearly superior to regular bottled dressing - I believe they mix their dressing in house. The fried chicken took about 30 minutes to arrive. It includes four pieces of chicken that are tiny - the smallest pieces I've ever seen other than Cornish game chickens. The chicken seems to be hand trimmed from a whole chicken, then hand battered and fried. The breast actually still has a piece of neck attached and the cut ends are quite messy. It's a homestyle, classical fried chicken, so it's fried hard until somewhat dry and chewy inside. The exterior gives a robust crunch, not quite cornflake/thick flour batter style, but a thinner crunchy coating. The chicken is bled thoroughly so there's no sign of extraneous myoglobin bloody areas that I sometimes see in homestyle fried chicken. It's salted and seasoned well on the exterior. The chicken comes with a bread stick. It's soft, fluffy, and chewy and is brushed with an appropriate amount of salted butter to liven things up. For the side, we went with the wild rice, which was our first try of this dish on the trip. The wild rice is really interesting. It's all curled up and popped open. It has a texture that's really snappy and bouncy, kind of like a hot dog in snappiness, but with the bounce of beef tripe. The taste is nutty similar to barley. We were so enamored with the texture that over the next couple of days, we actually visited multiple grocery stores and trading posts to pick up the various types available to cook at home - cultivated, wood parched, air boat harvested, and wild hand picked. (4/5) Given the tiny size of the chicken, the half chicken meal probably only feeds one person. It was enough for us, though, since we were not that hungry. I was quite surprised at the quality of the food at Chocolate Moose. I expected most of the restaurants in International Falls to be Sysco-reheated-food type establishments, but Chocolate Moose actually makes at least some (maybe most?) of their food in house. The atmosphere is very 'northern MN', fireplace, stone, log cabin walls,... very cozy. I chose the soup and salad lunch special. Soup was chicken and dumpling. Croutons were soft and would be much better if they were crispy. There were lots of sandwich choices and husband had the Club which was good and served with kettle chips. Nice lunch. Service was excellent. Beautiful views of the course from the clubhouse.

I'd advise staying at another hotel for anyone wanting to enjoy Duluth.
