AE here. We went on an unexpectedly busy night. Our server was quick and super nice. She took our drink order right away and our food came out really hot. (Love that!!!) This bar/restaurant was a great choice for dinner. We sat in the back where there are nice booths to allow conversation. I chose the bacon chicken ranch salad. You can have your chicken grilled or fried and I chose grilled. It comes with a warmed breadstick. All the ingredients were fresh. It was a nice lighter meal and a good portion size. We ended the meal with the chocolate lava cake with ice cream. It was quite tasty and presented well. Very pretty. Our server was amazing. She was so efficient and every request was done with urgency. So much energy. All the staff were welcoming. One gentleman had his water glass slip off the table and everyone came to help clean it up quickly. So thankful the Copper Nickel is open on Tue as so many other restaurants are often closed Mon and Tue in the area. read more

For a very small town, this place is a gem. It looks like your average bar from the outside, but the inside was nicely designed and very clean. They offer a variety of food options including some more unique and "upscale" choices. I ordered the soup flight which had three homemade soups -- each very delicious, and a breadstick. This was only $11. The soups are each 5 oz. My hubby had a cup of soup, breadstick and side salad. (this was also $11.) His soup was larger and the salad was a very generous size. What a great find in a small town! The ambiance was tasteful and relaxing. Their Friday night fish fry was delicious. I am typically not a huge fan of battered fish but the cod was light and no hint of old oil. The prime rib was very tender and there was a lot of it. It could have been a little closer to the medium rare I asked for but it was good nonetheless. Salads were refreshing with what seemed to be homemade dressing. But so much better, their focus on a steak or any of their unique menu choices will be prepared just exactly as you request side items, fresh flavors. We have found the Copper Nickel is strong and showing other East Range Bar and Restaurant's that they have come back, much stronger, obviously focused and proven they are focused on us as a patron, their quality in food and even a relaxing atmosphere, and of course their desire to put all of Aurora's talent on the map. The Copper Nickel has a strong legacy in Aurora, dating back many years. Stayed at nearby Giants Ridge Lodge and was looking for a decent meal. Aurora is a short 4-5 mile drive down the road. Entered this restaurant to find a redone bar. You walk through the bar area to find more of a dining experience in the back of the Restaurant. Small but nice for a community of this size. The food was excellent! We ordered the queen cut prime rib which was a 12 or 14oz cut. The steak was thick and juicy. Cooked to perfection. Served with loaded baked potatoes and a large au jus dipping bowl. (Love this vs. tiny plastic cups.) The mushroom/asparagus medley was great too! As an app, we ordered a shrimp cocktail and the presentation was superb. Service was great and friendly. Ranking four stars as the atmosphere could have been improved by reducing the lights (super bright in the dining area), provide cloth napkins to match the prices/ambience, and consider turning some music on or separating from bar scene to feel more like "steakhouse." read more

Went with a group of 8 for a 60th anniversary dinner! Excellent service and the meal was wonderful.

I will start with the good. Great ambience/decor. Cozy and comfortable. The drinks, especially the Moscow Mules were excellent! Now with the not so good, The appetizer of the shrimp cocktail were warm. They should have been very cold! That was the first turnoff. Then the waitress disappeared for a while and took forever to come back and/or to check on us/ serve us. I felt non existent. It was not busy except for 2 other tables besides my friend and I. I ordered a $28 Ribeye medium, it was burnt and overdone (very dry.) it also was not 20 ounces! I got underdone steak fries. We got a piece of carrot cake for dessert that seriously tasted weeks old. Or at least frozen and defrosted a few times. No flavor except for the overpowering flavor of cardboard box. Super dry, took one bite and could not finish. I will not be back to dine, but I would be back to socialize and have some cocktails with friends! read more

I walked inside this legendary bar once again under new ownership and was expecting the same service, drinks and menu. After I sat down at the table to begin the feasting process with my family, I looked around and noticed the new....well....new everything! I'm sure the tables and walls were the same but the decor was very tastefully displayed and my seat even felt softer on my bum. The lighting was nice and IMO could be softened just a touch, no biggie. After the right hook i had just received from the pleasant ambiance now in place, I perused through the menu in which i thought was fantastic as far as the simple yet satisfying selection offered for everyone's tastes. I ordered the breaded shrimp...unbutterflied, finally. The service was surprisingly swift considering that 1) I know the size of the kitchen. 2) The back dining area (where I was located) was FULL, as well as the bar in front...and 3) We had 7 at my table. My salad was perfect. Its presentation was upscale and it was very fresh. Then came the Tempura shrimp... My little babys. EXCEPT BABIES THESE WERE NOT!! These bad boys had girth and length! AND it wasn't prepared like at other establishments to where we end up having an order of deep fried breading with shrimp in the middle. Folks, the Copper Nickel is THE real deal. The decor is nice, however that is where the niceness stops, the tabled are not level on top (a place they went form over function) the silverware well i have nicer in my camper. I ordered the "award winning" prime rib and it tasted and looked like prepackaged individually wrapped. Not fresh. My wife ordered the NY Strip surf and turf and the steak was tough and dry and being she ordered it med rare should have been juicy. The shrimp were nice size but chewy and were precooked and cooked again with how chewy they were. Waitress was basicly ignored us the whole time. But the bar knows how to make drinks. A friend of a friend recommended The Copper Nickel for dinner. There is seating in the bar as well as the restaurant. We opted for the bar. The bartender, Shawn was great. Right on top of drink orders and the dinner orders. One of the specials was Ahi Tuna. I was torn between this and their shrimp (which could be ordered 4 different ways). Being from Hawaii, I am always leery of how some restaurants on the mainland prepare things like this. I decided to try it. The Ahi came with soup, salad, or vegetables along with several choices of potato. I ordered the salad which a very nice salad and size. I ordered the loaded baked potato, and we ordered garlic Parmesan bread for an appetizer, which was also very good. The Ahi was grilled perfectly, seared on the outside and beautifully pink in the middle. (This is the best way to have Ahi prepared). The Ahi was topped with a mango salsa which was so good, I asked for more!!!!! My husband ordered the New York Strip. Good size steak and he said it was very good. Our friend John ordered the sirloin and also said it was good. The service was great. The main courses came shortly after the salads but that was fine. All in all a very good experience and we will definitely be returning. read more

We've gone there twice now. Beautiful inside. Quiet. Reminds me of the nicest bars/taverns/pubs I've been to in big cities across the country. We've had the Caesar salad, the Black & Bleu salad, and the Pile Driver sandwich -- all were done absolutely perfectly. We'll be going back regularly.
