Not sure what these 1 star reviews are about. Went Sunday and they had plenty of empty buckets to use even though there were 3-4 other people there when I got there. They also pay pretty fairly. I've used several recycling companies in the valley and I got more from Sunset this weekend than I've ever gotten from any other local recycler. Staff was quick, cash on hand, in and out without much trouble. Definitely recommend compared to other companies in the area. read more

Well, came in filled up 2 trash cans. Full of glass, one full of cans and another full of plastics and walked away with twenty bucks, much like everybody agrees, it's hard to tell if they're ripping you off when you can't see the weighted scale and you have to trust the worker's words for it. My usual place to recycle had closed down and I was frantic to find someplace new. My parents had recommended this spot and I decided to give it a try even though it was quite a drive for me... however, upon entering, the first impression I got was that it was incredibly well maintained! My last spot was pretty filthy to say the least and Sunset Recycling Center was a treasure trove compared to it! I didn't realize that we should keep the caps on which is great for me! Once I found it on the side of Ralph's, service was prompt and easy. For how much recycling we had we didn't get very much in rebates, but since almost all recycling centers are closing I guess something is better than nothing! read more

The wire baskets are a joke and not enough of them. If it's busy you have to wait for one to be available. Possibly 30 min or more because they only have 4 baskets at any given time. They open late and close early? Messy, greasy and you have to take your plastic sacks with you. You get the feeling that they're doing you a big favor and shouldn't be insulted when you see how much money they've pocketed from you. Weights aren't right and I don't believe they are paying current industry prices. I always use the count method to make sure I get my money back and not put it in their pockets. read more

This place is a RIP off don't not go here stay away go somewhere else they remove weight from scale I took in 6 big bags of plastic bottles weight about 10-12lbs after filling about all the orange baskets he had available each basket only weighted 3 lbs each they don't provide receipt or they don't show you the weight of each basket stay away lucky I did not take my whole load here I like to take a few and c if they are right in weight or not this place is not will be reporting them. read more

Sunset Recycling Center - The size of each bag - Recycling Center Near Me - Murrieta, California

We started taking our recyclable material to recycling centers about 3 years ago in Temecula. We recently moved to Murrieta and i chose this spot to take our cans, plastic and glass bottles. I find it very very convenient they are open all week, including Sunday. It's clean and they are cool. As a plus, it would be good we could take clean cardboard/paper and plastic other than bottles, although I know that's out of the scope of the services provided by the place. read more

I no longer will recycle. I would rather lose the money I paid for the bottles and cans than be ripped off to my face however things are weighed. We should get what we paid for back. read more

The kid, Kevin, that helped me was very sweet. I caught him on his lunch break and he was so unnecessarily apologetic when he showed up a few minutes later. Much different attitude than my past recycling center which was staffed by unfriendly and unhelpful people. Once he was here I was in and out in a few minutes. read more

Two stars for recycling what I had- I felt it was much lower than what I usually get there, I know the values change regularly, but I felt what I brought in should have been at least $4-5 more. Not really the reason of the review though- I was very disappointed with the customer service. When I said hello, the employee didn't respond, and only talked to me when he denied some plastic. I used to recycle the same plastic there before, had it separated, but was told it needs to say CRV. At least I know now! However, the employee seemed disturbed by my presence there as soon as I showed up. I didn't give one star because I understand people have bad days and COVID, but I do feel that my experience was bad enough to leave this review, and I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Do not go here! Very dishonest person. Worst place to go to for recycling. Big time cheater! I normally do recycling every six months and I normally get around $70-$80 for recycling. Today I went there and after weighing everything the guy told me that I only have $25 amount of recycable. I felt so cheated. He took, all my recyclables and did not give me the right weight. Normally that amount of recyclable pay about $70- 80, but this guy cheated and did not give me the right weight. I questioned him how I got just $25, he said I only had 3 containers, but in fact I had 6 containers of recyclables, bottles, cans and plastics. I felt like I was robbed because he got all the recyclables and there's nothing I could do to prove it. He stole more than half of our recyclables. I only got paid $25 for my $70- 80 worth of recyclables! This guy is a big time cheater!! Do not go here!! read more
