Communication is rather difficult as there is no staff available and both phone call and in person conversations are very hurried. Despite greeting our party with a list of things not working and not greeting my mother when she checked into her trailer, owners were unpleasant. Staring at us when we used the pool and turning our guests away from the clubhouse we rented. It almost seemed like they wanted to make things as hard as possible for my great grandmother (85) and grandfather. I truly have never seen anyone be so callous. I think just saying, "I'm sorry this isn't working, it's out of our control" would have gone a long way. Instead we got, too bad, you can leave but no refunds. Overall, you won't be in the unit you paid for nor will you be near those you book with...just the worst customer service imaginable.

We arrived late on Thursday but the new owners were so nice and more than accommodating letting us into our cabin and showing us around. Our cabin was clean, spacious, and well stocked. We stayed in cabin #14, with two closed-door bedrooms (each bedroom with a queen and twin mattress) and a queen mattress in the front room. This unit could sleep 8 people. There was a huge porch out front which we loved. The kitchen was all set with coffee maker, toaster, microwave, pots/pans, and more than enough plates/cutlery/glassware. The bathroom had many towels and the beds were extremely comfortable. I got up each morning well rested and walked around the property which has a beautiful spring fed pond and a creek flowing throughout the property. Across the street from the resort, there is a lovely set of trails to hike/bike along Black River and Clearwater lake. It was our first time visiting this area and the new owners (very kind and generous people) gave so many lovely suggestions for food, activities, swimming, and the best hiking spots! We loved our stay, and we can't wait to come back to spring valley resort!

If you don't hold the bathroom door shut when using the toilet it doesn't really lock and workers do not knock, one walked in on my brother. Used to be a decent place that I recommended people to visit. I had the best reviews on google and yelp for it with photos of my daughter visiting each year but at time progressed I don't want to take her there. The place has gone down hill, inflated the prices and because they reclaimed ownership a couple months ago, couldn't have the pool functioning in time after we were told the pool would be open by Libby. Crystal(owners right hand man) said if we didn't come even though the kids wouldn't have a pool they'd charge us for cancelling. We asked for a discount from the inflated price bc we wouldn't have a pool which was the only reason we booked. She said no, owner said he doesn't do that. So we have done a lot of sitting around and much lost vacation time and money for my children to watch teenagers party on the playground equipment while listening to rap and getting drunk. Place is not suitable for children that haven't experienced bad language or intoxicated people. They also wouldn't place is by each other which I had set up . The kids have nothing to do, nobody worked on the pool once like they claimed they were working on so so very hard on the phone. I've been coming here since I had kids, and to the lake since I was a baby. I'm surprised they did this, I won't be back. Pretty sure they're trying to get every penny before losing or selling the property, I don't know why they'd treat regulars like that if not.

I started worrying when I realized this "Resort" was not in downtown Piedmont (downtown!?!), but it was really located about 10 miles outside of town - you know - way out where your trusty GPS doesn't even recognize roads. Take HWY 34 to Piedmont MO. Turn north on HWY 49, go 1 mile to HWY AA and turn left, go 7 miles on HWY AA, and you can't miss it on your right hand side. I must explain the reason I found myself deep in Piedmont. When the Black River flooded Piedmont Missouri in April 2008, I found myself compelled to attempt to come to my fathers aide. See, he built his own house on the banks of the Black River, his house was completely flooded, and my husband and I foolishly thought we might actually be able to help clean up after the disaster. The evacuees of the "Black River Retreat" (sounds quaint right?) were given hotel vouchers for the Bluff View Resort. I figured that might be the only place in town with available hotel rooms, and I wanted to e close to my Dad. When I called to make the reservation, the lady I spoke with said that they didn't take credit cards, only cash or check. It was 40$/night, and since she was working at the restaurant the night I'd be checking in, she would just leave the key with my dad. Woah, I wasn't sure what to make of that. Long story short, there wasn't any cleaning agent that would eradicate the mess from my Dad's house, and there wasn't any way we were going to pull back the covers and sleep on the sheets of the Bluff View. We bought towels from Wal*Mart to cover the covers & slept terribly. I will say the place was chock full of ambiance, and the people were friendly. It just wasn't the type of ambiance I prefer.
