Someone who looked homeless came unannounced into my campsite at 1030 pm!, when my kids were asleep in the tent. When I asked why they didn't announce themselves they got offended and gave me a really hard time, getting very upset with me, even after simply explaining why I was uncomfortable. This happened 2 different nights. After this they then called my wife while we were on a hike very upset with me for questioning why their staff members came into out site 2 different nights unannounced. I thought, in reality, if I pay $500 for a few nights in the woods I had the right, as a customer, to ask simply why they kept coming into my campsite; but apparently I was wrong when it came to this campground. If you like paying tons of money for campsites to have staff come into your site to bother you in the late hours of the night this is the campground for you.

I could hear multiple crying children in the distance over the low volume of my tv but the staff didn't knock on their camper doors and tell them no crying after 10pm. It's awesome having someone ask if they can wait or if you are ok with them coming down right away. We were ok with a visit while we set-up and Jillian told us about things in the area. If you are going to visit I would recommend a week at the min. due to how the weather changes. We arrived and it was nice and sunny but by that evening it was quite overcast. I wanted to get a picture of the sunrise and set my alarm to get up at 4:45am.....just to see a heavy fog over the bay, oh well back to bed I went, but check the weather forecast to see if there are clouds / fog before trying to get the sunrise picture! We took part in the lobster and oyster dinner that was offered during our stay. Baked beans were on the menu and all of the guest brought a side dish, Rob goes over lobsters and how to prepare them, and then we ate our meal. Afterwards they had a fire and Rob played the guitar and sang, he is quite good and if you play he welcomes all to join. Since I only play the radio I wasn't much use for this part of the evening. Rob and Peggy have done a great deal of work making this a travel destination when visiting Maine. My wife loves working in the "dirt" and they have a communal garden that she loved spending sometime in during our stay. She planted items and seeds and I even helped with some weeding. Also had some packages shipped here prior to our arrival and Peggy kept them safe until we arrived. The stairs down to the water, while they still needed a handrail are plenty wide enough for two people to walk down holding hands it's called the "Sweetheart Stairway" so as to keep your balance. They do not have onsite showers or any laundry facility's currently. We have a washer and dryer so it wasn't an issue for use. The WiFi was awesome, able to stream on our TV's and do anything we wanted with our laptops. We loved our time here and have it bookmarked as a stop for any future trips to the area. We purchased a week long pass ($35) to Arcadia National Park and went there just about everyday. The bathroom is rather small and two piece, so you have to wash your hands in the kitchen sink. Outside of that, the rooms were fine from a space consideration and there is a lot of nice outdoor space. You do have access to a grill so that's nice, just make sure to bring your own charcoal and firewood for the public fire pits that overlook the bay. There is no A/C but they do offer fans in both rooms. Fortunately the weather broke right before we got there so instead of hot and humid it was cool and dry. The outdoor space was nice because we had access to overlook the bay and with a small walk we were able to get to the water. Not sure it's ideal for any kind of swimming but you do have access which is nice. Overall it was a nice stay, but I don't feel that I would want to spend more than 2 nights here total. It's a personal preference as I enjoy more space.
