Unfortunately, there isn't a restroom around so be prepared! Otherwise, plenty of benches and a couple of tables, so get your pizza pies delivered here and enjoy a nice lunch!

Nonetheless, my daughter wanted to have some friends/family celebrate her birthday here. The park is a decent size park, where a lot of people have set-ups for birthdays. A short distance away, they have a play area for the children to do their thing. If you walk up a bit, you can get some nice anemic photos toward the water, during this part of the season, you may spot a cherry blossom tree, or two. Overall, it's a wonderful family oriented park. I'd say if you have children, a dog, a mate who enjoys walking, a couple friends who want a picnic and/or some quiet time, this park would definitely suit your needs!

When I was a younger person, the neighborhood park was a special place for me. I didn't realize then how important being one with nature is. Meeting up with friends, hopscotch, hula hooping, tic tac toe.. the good old days. We could stay out all day all night. What's great is to see kids playing ball, riding bikes and doing "kid stuff" and having a great time vs. glued to iPhones. Ask yourself, when was the last time you sat in a park, breathed fresh air, read a book or just enjoyed the sun on your face? Spring is here and it's PARK TIME!

Some of the newest and nicest outdoor tennis courts in NYC can be found right here!…read more I'd typically say "...sssssshhhhhhhh" and to keep it a secret, but for as long as I had been playing tennis, the tennis courts at John J Carty existed. However, they never were my preferred tennis courts to play on because the courts were purely concrete and not your typical tennis hard court surface. HOWEVER, during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, a renovation of all of the tennis courts was completed and the courts reopened to the public with brand-spankin' new surfaces! Needless to say, this park once again became one of the go-to destinations for tennis lovers. There are 2 courts side by side for every row of courts and the row of courts are separated by fences. With all the praise I just showered onto these brand new hard courts, I was quickly reminded on the very first time I was back on these courts why I was not in favor of them, even though the surfaces were as smoooooth as a washboard - the ground that the courts were built on were sloped! Yes, you read that right. The fact that they were always sloped turned me off and does affect play if you're of the more advanced skill level, not to say I really am. However, whenever I played on these courts, something was always off with my tennis stroke, but when I played on courts that were level, no complaints. If you're novice-intermediate player, these courts will do just fine. At the end of the day, beginners are more focused on just getting the ball back and forth with easy going swings. However, if you're a more advanced player, these courts might get on your nerves. You will clearly notice the slope when you're on the higher side of the court because you can tell that you have to hit the ball on a downward trajectory every time. Bottom line, these courts are still really nice and new, but the uneven-ness of one side versus another is very noticeable.

I visited the Narrows Botanical Garden with a friend of mine after grabbing lunch in the…read moreneighborhood. I wasn't sure what to expect but I'm always down for an adventure. The water fountain and small ponds (I think that's what they're called) are beautiful and there are plenty of opportunities for the perfect bird photographs. This is the perfect spot to hang out with some friends, get your steps in, or just processing emotions while listening to music. I couldn't believe that this was my first time even hearing about this place because of the great things that I had heard about it but I'm glad that I came and I would be more than happy to come back and bring some friends with me. I filed a complaint with 311. 2. They fail to secure the park at night and teens are breaking glass bottles everywhere, not safe for children. Needs a full-time security guard at night. 3. The teens turn over the full trash cans for fun. 4. The teens rip up the cork running track for fun. 5. The teens break the fences and gates for fun. 6. The park is not well maintained, litter everywhere. 7. The tennis courts are missing nets, the basket ball courts are missing nets. For upscale neighborhood of $1million dollar homes this is a disgrace.

I would say for the best views come in through the 5th Avenue entrance on either 43rd or 44th street. You can get a nice scenic view once you're in the middle of the park. I would say if you're in the neighborhood or visiting "Industry City" that you should pass through the park, if the water calls for it.
