Two beautiful twin green spaces separated by 2nd Avenue. Lots of seats under gorgeous trees overlooking a fountain. Beautiful plants and flowers. Often used as a meeting point for groups and rallies.

The pics of Ole Peg Leg didnt show the founder l of New Yorks official title. Proud too be Dutch..!

The Dutch were extremely influential in the building of our great city, just look up when in any NYC city park and see the blue white and orange flying above upon the flagpoles. Being of the origional Dutch lineage, I do take great pride in the pursuits of reading any books and periodicles and definately visiting the landmarks. Unfortunately Dutch food plays virtually no significant role then nor now. Once I reached the double sectioned park on a struggling sunny May afternoon, a calmness greeted me in the form of -- doused city traffic rumble and a delicious cool breeze coming from the 2nd ave enterance. Big trees canopy many of the sitting areas, the center square of the park is wide open for taking in the beautiful golden rays. Peter Stuyvesant was a rough and tumble patriot that was kind to the Indians but a bulldog to the Brits. Traded wampum and pelts with our honest trading partners, built Wall Street to keep out the English. Standing infront of Peter Stuyvesants statue, I did feel incredibly proud to be Dutch. We gotta work on that food issue though.

At the end of 16 St. is the entrance to Stuyvesant Square Park.

I had the unfortunate need to visit a family member in Beth Israel Hospital which is next door to this little square of solitude. It made a wonder place to site with friends and family to have a quiet conversation besides the crowd waiting room. It also make a nice place to eat lunch. The dog walk area appeared to be a great spot for the four-legged friends to run free. The park continues on the west side of 2nd Ave. so pick your favorite side to seat. Next time when I am bicycling through the area I will remember to stop for a rest.

Nice view on a nice day.

I used to like going to union square park on my breaks, but this park is better for me. Not that many people. The people that usual come here like to either read or enjoy the surrounding so not that nosey (which I dig). There is a good amount of seats and shade.

Please excuse the poor quality of my photo... the park was very pretty (not like my picture)

What a hidden gem! My trip was inspired after starting "New York," a historical fiction novel by Edward Rutherford. Peter Stuyvesant was quite the big wig and was the head the Dutch colony of New Netherland (i.e. New York before it was, in fact, New York). But I digress... The book inspired my journey and I'm glad I went. Convenient to Union Square, but far enough away to feel like a different place altogether. Some historical buildings line the south and west sides of the square and an adorable fountain is placed in the middle of the park with flowers in bloom surrounding the fountain. Plenty of shade, lots of places to enjoy a good book, and some really beautiful flowers.

This little gem is sort of a secret. It's not the prettiest of parks, but what it lacks in beauty, it makes up for in uniqueness, location, and privacy. Trying to find a bench to sit on in this general area is not always likely. Stuyvesant Park provides plenty of benches, shade, and relaxation. If you're looking for a place to bring your brown bagged lunch or take a quick siesta, this is a good option. Id give it 5 stars but there are sometimes hospital patient drifters sprawled out here. Nobody ever bothers you.. But still. The squirrel aggression is relatively low here:)

How can a beautiful, well-kept and quiet flowered square in NYC not be rated as 5 stars? It has a circular flower garden in its center, benches all around and, did I mention, quiet.

Wonderful fountain in the center of this patk

One of our favorite places to sit when we are in the Gramacy/East Village area. This quiet, under utilized park has two rings of seating and is mostly planted with a good variety of flowers in the summertime. It's a great place to enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast sandwich or lunch or just for an afternoon respite. It's right across the street from the Mount Sinai medical facility at 16th St. and Second Avenue and also across the street from the Friends Meeting House on Rutherford place. In the summertime, they have movies on some nights and on Sunday evenings they have an Argentine tango class from 6:00-6-45, and dancing from 6:45 to 8 o'clock! There is an event schedule posted in the center of the park by the fountain.

Watch out for the rat pacts at night. I saw at least 7 rats run from the garbage back into the park .

We were on our 4th game of 5 on 5 on this slanted, slippery court with double rims as the Midtown skyline looked over us. We had gone 3-0 and already on wobbly legs but wanted one more to really push ourselves to exhaustion and be WHOOPED. A group of 5 17 year olds showed up and I was lowkey like damn I don't wanna play these little kids for our last game but whatever, they got next. We were going back and forth, and to be fair they were actually pretty good but just too frail to give us any problems. At 5'10 174 lbs, I'm a BIG guard. I'm left handed, but shot a right handed floater fading to my right as I'm trying to get better. If you can hit a weak hand floater on the run you will be tough to stop. I bricked it and this little 17 year old kid goes "that's a TERRIBLE shot" looking at me dead in the eyes. Like bro y'all are losing and you suck why you talking? He woke me up and I started actually trying really hard and lowkey busting their ass... but tbh normally I'm not even that good. It was just one of those days where everything was falling. I hit a 3 and yelled out "THAT'S A LAYUP." I drove hard left, euro stepped and hit a tough finish through 2 and yelled "I"M TOO BIG," while flexing. I switched onto little homie and he took a terrible stepback shot after I turned him 3 times and bricked it. I just whispered to him "I don't even gotta say nothing after that one it speaks for itself" which really pissed him off. Then I hit the game winning 3 and did the Dame wave to him as he walked off the court PISSED as hell. I sat down and then he got the courage to say "STOP TALKING SO MUCH" while he put his hand together to mimic me YAPPING. I almost stood up and said "HOW BOUT U GET WIN?" But then I realized I'm a grown ass man and there is absolutely no reason to be jawing at this little kid on a beautiful Friday in New York City. I just kind of laughed at myself and asked what is wrong with me lol. All in all, these runs were kind of weak and this court is in horrendous condition. The court on the westside highway is still my favorite in the city. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews

It's pretty hidden since you have to go to the end of 51st street and then walk down some steps. There's plenty of poop bags (looks like plastic bags from the veggie section at your grocery store) and the surface is paved brick. It seems as if they just threw up a fence to split off the dog park from the rest of the park. While I liked the park, I didn't dig the vibe of the folks. Maybe it's because I'm not from the neighborhood, but it seemed as if everyone was just antisocial, and it seemed like all of the dogs were antisocial as well. It seemed like a park where the dogs and owners were more mature. I got dirty looks from the old folks who thought my 6 month old Jack Russell mix was aggressive and they left. Nipping, biting and barking is perfectly normal for dogs. People need to chill out. Dogs like to wrestle and hump. It's worth it to check out if you're in the area, but I wouldn't make a destination out of it.
