Another one of those relaxing little quiet spots in the city. A relaxing almost hypnotic waterfall and places to sit down. A great place to catch your breath and just zone out for a few minutes.

What a relaxing and quaint park. Highly recommended.

I found an oasis on the East side of Manhattan and it's called, Greenacre Park. If you're not looking for it, you might walk right past it. Whoever designed this park was a genius. As you walk in, you'll see the cascading water at the rear. It has lots of seating, encompassing different themes. If you want to be under a trellis, there are seats. If you want to sit directly in front of the water, there are seats, and benches. If you want to be under trees and nice landscaping, there are seats. They even designed a babbling brook, on the right side of the park, that relaxes you as you take in its view. I noticed, that they also have a small café, on site. It was closed when I visited, but that's another caveat that adds to the many reasons to experience this park.

Greenacre Park popped up as a hidden gem in NYC for me so I added it to my NYC bucket list of things to do when visiting. On this particular HOT weekday, we happened to be in the vicinity and I'm always looking for a little adventure. Seeking a bit of shade to cool off and a little bit of time before our Maybe Happy Ending broadway show, we decided to see if this little park lived up to the hype. As we approached, we had significant doubts that vanished once we stepped in. We immediately heard the waterfall. The stream of trickling water led us right to our destination. As we got closer, it drew us in with available seats clearly calling our names. We sat down and stayed to recharge, cool off and just enjoy our surroundings! This park is free and was busy but not crowded like you would think it could be. It's also clean with no litter or bad odors. If you are looking to bring food to sit and eat you can or if you want to eat there, you can dine at Carol's cafe that is adjacent to the park. There are tables and chairs for you to sit and stay for a while. We sat, we stayed and loved every moment. *Note, this gets the five star ratings because I LOVE waterfalls!

This park is a tiny, quiet oasis amidst the cacophony of street noises found in New York. As you're walking along 51st, it reveals itself in an unexpected way for anyone who is simply wandering by. It features a waterfall in the back, and is a great spot on a hot day. It's a private park built for public use and is now on the Register of Historic Places. I wish they would build more of these types of little parks scattered around some of the dense blocks in NYC!

Refreshing pocket park In midtown east, with pretty flowers, seating, & a man made water fall. People come here on their lunch break i notice, but also a nice place just to relax, read a book or do some work On your phone. I notice there is a spot to buy coffee & snacks but did not have a chance to check it out myself. Fyi. No bathroom.

Can't get enough of this serene slice of heaven. I haven't tried the cafe but I love the fact that it's there. Always well maintained, beautiful greenery, lots of spaces to sit even when it gets super crowded in hot weather. I wish it was open more often!

What a fantastic little part is situated in East midtown on 51st Street. This park was funded by one of the Rockefellers and is open to all New Yorkers. It's a very Serene setting to have a light breakfast for lunch during the day. There's a little cafe situated there that serves breakfast and lunch faire. It is truly Zen in the city.

I went here today - and although it's a very small park, it has a beautiful waterfall and some lovely flowers. Also, there's a decent amount of seating when considering the small size. It was very peaceful and it's beautifully-maintained.

As much as I like hitting up food spots when visiting NYC, my favorite places to check out are actually tiny parks scattered in the area like this one. Great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and even the waterfall here was built with the intent of drowning out the sounds of traffic and construction. Zen vibes in this park for sure. Very well-kept too with fine detail to the landscaping (on the left there's a raised terrace with additional seating and on the right there's a man-made brook leading to the waterfall). One of my favorite small parks (if not my favorite one) in NYC! *As an extra tidbit, one of my favorite bakeries in NYC, Eclair Bakery, is within short walking distance. Great idea to grab some goodies there and enjoy them here!

An absolute hidden gem of a pocket park on 51st. Privately owned, but available to the public, it's tucked away from the hustle of 3rd Avenue. So quiet that I almost don't want to post a review and attract more attention to it. We snuck over here with our bagels as anyone who has ever been to Ess-a-Bagel knows it's nearly impossible to get a table, plus it's noisy and you always feel rushed. It was a miserable rainy morning and we were very pleased to find a covered area and were the only ones in the park for most of our time there. It's gems like this that make you complexity forget you are in the city.

"A private space for public enjoyment" is the perfect description by one of the signs at the entrance. This plot is so tranquil off of 51st St (not too busy for Manhattan). You can buy snacks from the cafe stand or bring your own entertainment. Tables are available in the shade, not in the shade, down by the waterfall. If you're in Midtown, this is such a cute spot to bring people of all ages.

This is an oasis in the middle of the concrete jungle that is Manhattan (not counting Central Park). I almost don't want to write this review as I don't want this place to get too crowded. I stumbled upon this spot on a weekday evening and wandered in as I was mesmerized by the giant manmade waterfall that is nestled inside this quaint little park. There are seats and tables scattered all over and the best part is that it's mostly shaded (well during the time I went) so it was so relaxing to just sit there and read while listening to the sounds of the waterfall. There's also a small kiosk at the entrance that sells food but I think it closes at 5. This is a great spot to just take a break from walking and the summer heat.

If my best friend (the dog) was aloud in I'd give the spot 5 stars; it's quite the oasis in the middle of Manhattan It gets busy though and can sometimes be tough to find a seat. Sort of a good place to write if you can focus on anything other than people watching and grabbing a bite at the awesome little cafe with juices and curry annnnnnd what an interesting variety

Ask the Community - Greenacre Park

    Why no photography?

The park does allow personal photography, just not special occasion photography like weddings, engagements, proms, etc.

Could someone tell me if the waterfall is active all year long?

Yes the waterfall is flowing when the park is open, from April through December. The park closes for the winter months of Jan-March.

Besides that, I never paid much mind to the park, especially in light of the fact that it's not in my stomping grounds. Nevertheless, I had just finished brunching nearby and since it was such a gorgeous day out, I decided to take a walk through the park and check it out. MSP is not large - the center of it is a large green space with paths on the perimeter that contain walking paths and benches. In addition to the Shake Shack, there's also a small seating area nearby where you can sit and eat, or just hang out. The park is ideal of people watching, eating your lunch, or just walking around a space that contrasts the hustle and bustle of the surrounding areas. Because of the weather, it was a little crowded but still pleasant. Overall, MSP is fine - it's not worth coming to unless you're in the area IMO, but a pleasant spot nonetheless.

We were on our 4th game of 5 on 5 on this slanted, slippery court with double rims as the Midtown skyline looked over us. We had gone 3-0 and already on wobbly legs but wanted one more to really push ourselves to exhaustion and be WHOOPED. A group of 5 17 year olds showed up and I was lowkey like damn I don't wanna play these little kids for our last game but whatever, they got next. We were going back and forth, and to be fair they were actually pretty good but just too frail to give us any problems. At 5'10 174 lbs, I'm a BIG guard. I'm left handed, but shot a right handed floater fading to my right as I'm trying to get better. If you can hit a weak hand floater on the run you will be tough to stop. I bricked it and this little 17 year old kid goes "that's a TERRIBLE shot" looking at me dead in the eyes. Like bro y'all are losing and you suck why you talking? He woke me up and I started actually trying really hard and lowkey busting their ass... but tbh normally I'm not even that good. It was just one of those days where everything was falling. I hit a 3 and yelled out "THAT'S A LAYUP." I drove hard left, euro stepped and hit a tough finish through 2 and yelled "I"M TOO BIG," while flexing. I switched onto little homie and he took a terrible stepback shot after I turned him 3 times and bricked it. I just whispered to him "I don't even gotta say nothing after that one it speaks for itself" which really pissed him off. Then I hit the game winning 3 and did the Dame wave to him as he walked off the court PISSED as hell. I sat down and then he got the courage to say "STOP TALKING SO MUCH" while he put his hand together to mimic me YAPPING. I almost stood up and said "HOW BOUT U GET WIN?" But then I realized I'm a grown ass man and there is absolutely no reason to be jawing at this little kid on a beautiful Friday in New York City. I just kind of laughed at myself and asked what is wrong with me lol. All in all, these runs were kind of weak and this court is in horrendous condition. The court on the westside highway is still my favorite in the city. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews
