This is the single most disgusting motel I have ever had the misfortune of staying at. I stayed here for 17 days with family and I truly believe if we had been homeless and slept under the docks, it would've been a better experience. Management is a joke. Always drunk and high and violently arguing with each other, having tantrums and throwing their belongings in the trash as revenge against each other. The cherry on top is the male manager stole my diabetic medication from the fridge, injected himself with it, then called me to ask me if I have HIV or Aids or HEP because he doesn't want to get infected. I hate this place. I hate the people who run it. Horrible experience. Cockroaches scampering around, broken ACs and fridges, it's a slumlord shack. If I ever come back to Seaside Heights, I wouldn't stay here again if you paid me back the 6,000 dollars I wasted on my 17 day stay. Disgusting. This place should be shut down. read more

Satisfied with our stay! Finding a motel in seaside that didn't look shabby wasn't easy but the Jacuzzi room is what sold us about the Sunset Motel & it happily matched up to our expectations. We stayed 2 nights in the Jacuzzi room and 1 night in a regular room since the jacuzzi room was booked for the 4th of July. The Jacuzzi room is 100% worth the money! You wouldn't even think you were staying in a motel in Seaside. The room is like luxury and well renovated. The Jacuzzi is a dream, you will want to stay in it all vacation. The motel even provides bubble bath. The bed was comfortable. Everything about this room was great. The reason I am giving the motel 4 stars instead of 5 is because when we stayed in the regular room you could obviously tell they put all the money into the jacuzzi room. The AC did not make our room cold and like other reviews said the light under the stairs makes the room bright even at 3am. The bed was as hard as a rock and they only gave two pillows. However I'm sure it still was better than what some of the other motels look like. The management was great! I believe the guys name was Sean and he honestly was on top of everything during our stay. We were provided with beach passes each day and when we checked out a car was blocking our spot and he quickly made sure the person moved their car. DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE RATINGS - it's disgusting. We didn't come into this reservation with high expectations, but what we walked into was horrifying. The minute we parked, we witnessed a dope deal at the car next to us. Customer service was egregious, and most importantly, the room was beyond filthy. Dirt on the kitchen table and bathtub, stained bedding sheets, a foul odor, and broken blinds that wouldn't drop down all the way. I left a review a few days ago and it suddenly disappeared. I would have given the front desk attendant a higher rating because she seemed super nice and said she'd help us get out money back... but after 6 emails... never heard back! There are not many places I would stay in Seaside but recently we rented a room for the Polar Bear Plunge at the Sunset Motel and was pleasantly surprised at how clean and well maintained it was. Walls were freshly painted, crown molding, new tiles, new mattress toppers. There was a small table and kitchenette. Perfect for the beach. We even had the pleasure of meeting Mike the maintenance guy, super friendly and takes pride in keeping the place looking good. read more

Where should I start. Overall this place is filthy, disgusting, and poorly run. I wouldn't even advise my worst enemy to stay in this place. Room had what looked like black mold on the ceiling. The room also had a funky odor to it. I heard the staff yelling at each other at least 3 times telling each other to "grow up", and yelling at each other about how to run the business... RIGHT OUTSIDE MY ROOM. During my second night I took a closer look at the sheets, and I found what appeared to be a bodily fluid (yes, I'm talking about what you're thinking). Staff said it was "glue", but did give me a new pair of sheets. There was a bright light shining through the window downstairs making it seem like it's always noon, even at 4am, definitely hard to sleep. No curtains to block the light either, only had blinds that were somewhat broken, and had about 5lbs of dust on them. They claimed to have beach passes, but I never got one. To be fair, the lady did offer one to me when I arrived, but I declined since I wasn't going to the beach the next day. First time I went to ask for one, no one was in the office. Second time, they were too busy yelling at each other and I didn't want to interrupt, so I had to spend $8 a day to go on the beach for a few hours. Air conditioner was extremely loud. Not a family friendly place at all. During my last night here, people were going at it in the room above mine, playing loud music and banging around for at least 8 hours. I said something to the staff earlier in the day, and the guy shrugged it off. I had to call the cops at 12am since no one did anything about it and I needed to sleep as I was leaving the next morning (Seaside Heights police department is awesome by the way, it took them less than 3 minutes to have 3 officers on scene). My socks turned black from walking on the bare floor; the place is filthy. I honestly think the tub was cleaner AFTER I left than when I arrived. There was hair all over the place that definitely wasn't mine. Tub still had dirt in it. Felt like I was staying at a college dorm room because I had to wear my sandals in the shower. Cleaning service is a joke. Not once did anyone come into the room to clean it up. Had a pizza box in my garbage, with nowhere to put it. When I arrived, there was a lady mopping the floor, but it didn't seem like that did much besides push the dirt and hair around. Also instead of being friendly at at least saying "hi", the cleaning lady kept saying, "Don't slip on the floor! Don't slip on the floor it's wet!". Yes, I have eyes, I can see that. My room even had a spider web in the corner, which unfortunately didn't stop ants from getting into my bed. I named one of them Paul. Paul was a good guy. RIP. NO HOT WATER WHATSOEVER, I couldn't even really shower since it was so cold. The bed was hard as a rock, which personally I don't mind, but not everyone wants to sleep on a hard bed. Do yourself a favor and spend a few extra bucks to get a real hotel. The best part of this trip was when I was checking out and could run far, far away. read more

If I could give 0 stars I truly would. Management was extremely unprofessional. They stand outside all day harassing people to see if they belong on the property or not. Always watching you as if you are doing something wrong. The guests are trashy which makes sense now. The rooms are dingy and have no ventilation. The room smelled like chlorine the whole time which was odd because there is no pool. I was too afraid to turn on the AC because I had no idea what would've came out. I wasn't able to sleep because of how uncomfortable the bed was. We wound up leaving early because someone had spit all over my car from the 3rd floor. I just couldn't take it anymore. Please don't waste your time staying here. There are plenty of other crappy places to stay that are still better than this. read more

Shower curtain filthy covered in mold and tub with hair. Door knob was broken was difficult to enter or exit room. Window blinds broken & falling apart. Table top blistered. we asked for extra towels and they were filthy not a little but horribly one was covered in black grease. Faint smell of cigarettes throughout. Quite unbelievable even for Seaside. Minimal parking. Beach badges not included. No pool. On the plus side, it is close to beach and the shower worked. read more

This is a very basic beach side motel in a great location near the boardwalk and all the clubs and restaurants. It was clean and minimal , the bed sheets and towels were clean. tile floors and a small modern tv. It was a cool night in April and the heat worked great. They dont advertise themselves to be anything fancy and they are not. We would stay here again but if you are expecting an in-room coffee maker or bedside reading lamps or really anything more then a tired old room to sleep in I would look elsewhere. We stayed in one of the Jacuzzi suites for a few days in July. The motel has been recently remodeled, so you have to look at the more recent reviews to get an accurate idea of what to expect. When we first arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by how new and clean everything was. Seaside has a tendency to get a little grimy with all the high school and college crowds that pass through, but the management at Sunset Motel were clearly on top of things. They were always around to take care of any concerns we may have had, though none ever arose. We had a DJ staying in the room above us and never even noticed, though the management had the foresight to let us know he was there and to let them know right away if it ever became disruptive to our stay. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, and I don't think I'll ever stay anywhere else on the boardwalk again. Oh, and the generous amount of bubble bath they leave for the hot tub is a major bonus. Even if you think you're too old for bubble baths, you're not. You will use them all, and you will love every minute of it. read more

First let me say this is the second stay at this motel for the wife and I. Management has apparently changed. Not for the better IMO. Reservation was made for a midweek overnight stay with payment in full. Check in time 2pm. We showed up about 20 minutes early. Room not ready till at least 3 or 3:30 pm manager says! Wow lacking big time. Went up to the boardwalk to kill some time. Came back about 3 pm. Room still not ready! Really ? Finally got into room after 3:30pm. Basic room $99 night + tax and fees= $115. Room comes with beach badges but the late check in messed that up. You have to sign damage waiver in case you mess the place up the can just charge your card. Went to check out the next morning early but no one available at desk. Waited for manager then asked if she could check our room? Then I can get our waiver back.(it has your CC # on it) manager said "I can't do that now". So we left and never to return to this place again. I read that the rooms were all remodeled but it was no different than last year. + a few minutes to Boardwalk , AC was cold. Look elsewhere for something better. read more

The only reason that I am giving it two stars is because check in was very easy, there was ample parking, and the place is clean. The bed is the most uncomfortable, lumpy bed I have ever slept on. My mom and I stayed here leading up and through 4th of July Weekend. Impromptu trip and we couldn't have lucked out more with our accommodations. First, the location is perfect-literally a block away from everything (boardwalk, beach, clubs). Secondly, the new managers were awesome. I'm a frequent traveler and I have come across few people that care as much as Pete and Jessica. They were both super attentive, available, and kept up on all the rooms. Considering the potential chaos that can happen on a Holiday weekend at the beach, I was impressed with how orderly they kept the guests and made it a safe welcoming place to come back to regardless of time of day. What is Stroke of Luck. I met my sweetheart in Seaside Heights a few years ago. We wanted to go back for our anniversary and spend some intimate time together. It was April 7th and not many establishments were open for business. I took a chance on the sunset. It was absolutely wonderful from the outside you would never know but we open the door and it took my sweethearts breath away. Clean beautiful room queen size bed with jacuzzi. The smell of the room was fresh and clean spotless. The owners are absolutely wonderful allow me to check in early to start our celebration. We will be celebrating our anniversary there from now on. The only negative was very minor they could use new doors the ones in place or steal and a little difficult to open and close. But ones that door closed behind us it was a Haven from the rest of the world. read more

Stayed here one night and was not impressed by anything but the location to the beach and boardwalk. The room was very dirty, the fridge didn't get cold and the sofa sleeper left a lot to be desired. It was completely flat, felt like sleeping on springs. The people who work here though were very friendly, so that's a plus. Didn't take advantage of their new sundecks and pool but they looked nice. The location is great! That is the only good thing about this place. Our room was horrible the shower was disgusting; the shower curtain had mold. So gross. The bed was a disaster. The box spring was a full size and the mattress was a queen. That doesn't really work well. It was horrible to sleep on. There was no table; which would of been nice. Asking for clean towels was like a travesty for the staff. The staff was nice but slow to do everything. I wouldn't stay here again it's not worth the price which isn't good anyway. Love this place ! My family and I stayed here for a few days this summer. We showed up at 10:am knowing full well check-in was at 2:pm, we wanted to get the full day at the beach. We were met with friendliness. We were given a parking pass, and beach passes for the the day, no hassle. We came back around 2:30pm and checked in. The room was VERY clean, and just as it looked in the pics. This motel is less than a block from the boardwalk and beach. Perfect location ! I would stay here again without a doubt, and recommend it to all my friends. Location, location, location ! read more

I stayed here for a weekend with my boyfriend and the place was great! The location is 2 blocks from the boardwalk and when you get on the boardwalk you are literally in the middle so it's very accessible to everything. The motel is small (3 floors with maybe 5 rooms on each level) but nice! The woman who worked at the check in desk was great and answered any questions we had. We had a room with 2 full beds and a little kitchenette. We didn't use the kitchen but it was nice to have just incase. The room was VERY clean, title floor so you don't have nasty carpet, the vents in the air conditioning were brand new, the beds had plastic on the mattresses for bed bugs, etc. the bathroom was a little small but had your basic needs. For being close to the boardwalk, there wasn't any noise problems. The motel gives you beach passes(which you return) per rooms which was great so you didn't have to pay to get on the beach. If you're looking for a close place to the boardwalk that's clean with nice owners with a decent price check this place out. I highly recommend and would stay there again. read more

A group of friends and myself booked 3 rooms at this motel around February 2014 for the weekend after prom which just passed this June 2014. When booking the motel we spoke to the previous managers Anne and John. They were the nicest people we have ever met and helped use with absolutely everything possible. They made us feel very at home and made sure we knew they would keep us safe and comfortable. The managers at the time fully explained the motels rules and also took a copy of the person who was signing for the rooms ID's. The total for the deposit and the final payment was being put on one debit card so that information was also taken. It was also understood that there had to be atleast one 18 year old in each of the rooms, which our group had more than just 1 per room. Lastly we were told we would recieve 1 parking spot per room. As the months passed we were not informed of the new management and when we finally got to the motel at 3 in the morning after prom, we met the new rude, vulgar manager. First we found out by the manager we were only allowed the parking spot on a first come first serve basis. She also informed us that every single person in each room needed a form of ID which we also were not aware of. We had more than the total amount left to pay on the debit card but the transaction would not go through. We all tried to put the money together even though we were all exhausted from just leaving prom, to driving all down the parkway, and everyone just wanted to sleep in the rooms we had booked. We offered the lady to hold the debit card till the bank opened, which was only a couple hours away, so then we could go withdraw the complete amount to give to her. Although she already had this information on file, she still would not assist us in anyway. She was very snappy and seemed very restless. Her son was also there who was trying to calm her and he did seem to understand our situation a little better. In the end while we were trying to get the money together the debit card was charged $240 which still has not been refunded. Our whole group ended up driving around Seaside looking for another place to sleep. We finally ended up staying at Surfside Motel which ended up saving us money, having a way nicer, proffesional manager, more than enough parking, and a pool! I really wish Anne and John were still there because with them I am 100% sure none of this would have happened, our prom weekend would have been great, and we all would have definitely went back.
