I'm convinced that people who leave poor reviews for motels don't realize what they're getting…read morethemselves into. Seaside isn't Martha's Vineyard or the Hamptons. You're not staying at the Ritz Carlton. Yes, the Sunburst Motel probably needs renovating since it was last decorated decades ago. Yes, there were cigarette burns in the bedding. However, it's clean for the most part, which can't be said about all of the motels in Seaside Heights. The bathroom was very nice. No, there isn't shampoo, body wash, or conditioner. Unfortunately, you'll have to stop by the local CVS and pick up a couple travel sized bottles. You'll survive. Some pros about our stay at Sunburst: There was a functional triple lock on the door. Definitely helps to know that we're safe. The beds were incredibly comfortable and warm despite the cigarette burn holes. That didn't really bother us too much. The bedding was clean. No bed bugs. We had a nice room with two beds, a kitchenette, TV, and refrigerator. The man who runs the front desk was very nice and helpful. I forgot to get his name but he was very friendly. It's very close to the middle of the boardwalk and beach. There was only one con about staying here. It's very loud and the walls are thin. We had noisy neighbors. Not really a fault of the motel but Seaside typically attracts the louder and younger crowd. Not a huge issue. There's also no daily maid service which doesn't bother us but I know that's a deal breaker for some. Overall, this is a comfortable, fairly clean, and safe place to stay in Seaside Heights. Again, don't come here if you're looking for a ritzy hotel. You'll definitely be disappointed. In fact, don't come to the Jersey Shore at all if you want to go somewhere classy. This isn't it. If you just want a comfortable and pleasant stay, this is a good option. Believe me, there are a lot of motels in the area that are in horrible condition and I would not feel safe staying at. Sunburst isn't one of them. It deserves the four stars. The Charlroy Motel is also another family friendly option in the area. More expensive and on the quieter side of town but worth the money. They were booked for the summer so Sunburst was our next option and they didn't disappoint!

Very clean, short walk to the beach, very close to Lavallette( you can see Lavallette from the motel). I would stay again and highly recommend. I would also like to add that the guests staying at the hotel were super friendly.

Cons: Dated room, paneling from 1970s. Fold out couch with 2inch thin mattress that you could see feel the springs through. Mildew smell in room. Neither the air conditioner nor the refrigerator had been turned on prior to our arrival. Fridge smelled of mildew and was dirty. Microwave dirty. Door handle broken. No security lock. Chain that had been there was broken off. Louvered blinds broken. Air conditioner dusty and dirty. No hooks in the bathroom to hang anything. Dirty carpet. Couch stained. Mattresses stained. I know it's the jersey shore and I am not super picky when it comes to hotels but I expected more for $900 for three nights. Will not be staying here again.

We did not utilize the pool or restaurant on property. But the pool was big and very clean. Lots of places to sit. Our room was a decent size. It was clean. We had extra towels. We even had our own private balcony which was really nice to use in the morning. We had plenty of hot water in the shower and the pressure was good. There was also a big fridge and nice size microwave. The location was GREAT! It was only a few blocks from the boardwalk and beach. And there were a lot of restaurants and stores within walking distance. I felt safe around the area, and I was okay exploring on my own. We could even see the firework show from our balcony which was a cool touch. The WiFi wasn't the best but we were also in the back building. But parking was super easy. We would definitely stay here again. Great first experience!

If you want a hotel that clean, on the boardwalk, close to the beach and rides, and at the time allowed pets (please do not change!) you won't find better. Enjoyed so much this is our 3 year and multiple visits this year! More detail below... If you're looking for a stay that puts you right in thecenter of the action, Boardwalk Hotel Charlee is a solid choice. The location is unbeatable -- literally steps from the sand and right on the Seaside Heights boardwalk, so you can wake up to ocean views and the sound of waves. The rooms are simple but clean, with a beachy vibe that matches the laid-back atmosphere of the area. Love the balcony - perfect for sipping coffee while watching the sunrise over the Atlantic. The staff is friendly and accommodating, making check-in and check-out a breeze. Because it's right on the boardwalk, you should expect some noise, especially on summer weekends -- but that's part of the charm if you're here for the lively Jersey Shore experience. Parking can be a bit tight, so plan ahead. Pros: Prime oceanfront location Steps from restaurants, shops, and attractions Friendly, helpful staff Great views from select rooms Pet friendly Cons: Limited parking - but Mohammed manages well. Rooms are basic, not luxury - but clean and bright Overall: A great pick for travelers who want convenience, ocean views, and a true Seaside Heights vibe. Perfect for couples, friends, or families who plan to spend most of their time enjoying the beach and boardwalk.

My husband is a builder and we saw exposed wires and many violations. No idea how seaside allows this place to stay in business. People have been complaining to expedia and hotels.com for years and they still show fake pictures that are not anything like the rooms look now. All the good reviews they show to cover all the bad ones I missed are absolutely fake and coming from this egyptian muslim family who are dirty and rude!

Unfortunately, our plans changed because of a death in the family. I realize Buoy 16 has a cancelation policy that charges a crazy percentage for a cancellation fee And we went in knowing that because we had no intention of cancelling. However, it is not like we just chose to cancel and go somewhere else- it was a death of a loved family member. Further we gave then ample notice of the cancellation and they will still most likely to be able to rent out the room. They are just callously profiting from a tragic event in our life. The staff were so nice and helpful. The other guests were lovely- kids for my kids to play with, even adults who got into Marco Polo and tossing the beach ball. The beach is right there, the room came with beach passes. The rides were right there, it was all so convenient. The shower was intimidating at first- rainwater, handheld, wall-shooting water, but once I got the lay of the land the shower did not disappoint. We used the tub with our own stopper, so pack one of those if you need the tub. It was a motel so we expected a motel. There wasn't a coffee maker in the room, but who needs that when Joe on the boardwalk is happy to sell coffee and juice. Our only recommendation was to add a few more hooks for towels. One in the bathroom door would be great. You can never have too many hooks. Also, I like to mention for other fam reading reviews- we're a two mom family and all was as it should be. The place is so clean. I always get the small suite. It has a separate bedroom. This has a washer/dryer, large frig., stove, microwave and coffee pot.
