When I arrived, Mimi greeted me, I filled out the standard form, and she brought me back to the massage space. It was an individual, draped-off "room," but only separated from the next room by a set of drapes. The mediation music was relaxing, and Mimi asked me to undress to my underwear and start face-down on the table (normal massage routine). I like deep pressure, and Mimi's technique was deep but not painful. The stretches, particularly the leg stretches, were amazing. Now the interesting part. Because the individual spaces are draped off, I could hear the massage in the next space. I could hear the gentleman groaning (NOT in a gross way, just that his massage sounded extremely deep lol). After a particularly big groan, I heard his massage therapist ask, "are you ok?" and he replied "uh yeah," but his voice cracked like he was crying lol. Mimi told me his therapist was Susie, whose technique is mostly walking, so it's extra deep pressure. Mimi told me her technique is more like spot therapy. Mimi's technique was on point for me, she found a particular knot in my left hip that she said was huge (didn't give me any trouble!), and she explained that because the knot is at the base of my back, it partly leads to the tension I feel in my shoulders and neck. She encouraged me to come back for 90 minutes with Susie to walk it out! lol Mimi had to leave for a minute to help Susie with the credit card machine when her client was done, and Mimi said "he cried for good," lol. Honestly, it DOES make me want to come back and try out Susie!! I ended my session with 30 mins of gua sha, which was equally relaxing. I went today (6/25/26) and got a foot reflexology massage, which is now $50 instead of $45. I had a very poor experience. The masseur I had was named Jack, and I was barely massaged at all during the entire session. Instead, he would grip one area of my body extremely hard and hold it there for a long time, or he would poke me very hard with one finger for an extended period. I was barely rubbed anywhere, and when I was, it was mostly with his elbows or knuckles. I even told him that he was being too rough, but he barely lightened up. Also during the entire massage people at the front desk were talking so loud and laughing. This was very uncomfortable to listen to. After the massage, I did not plan on leaving a tip because I was uncomfortable throughout the entire session. As I was leaving, the girl at the front desk demanded that I tip, when i explained i didn't want to she ask if i didn't like the massage. I explained my experience to her, but she continued to insist that I leave a tip. I reluctantly pulled out $5, and she continued arguing with me, telling me I needed to tip more. I do not understand tipping for a service I did not enjoy. She then told me I had to personally give the tip to the masseur, even though he had already left the room. I repeatedly asked if she could simply give it to him, but she kept telling me to go find him myself. When I finally handed him the tip, he said out loud, "Only five dollars?" in Chinese to his coworker. I am honestly so disappointed with this experience that I will not be coming back. I decided to give Andreea a call, and I'm so glad I did. Now, bear in mind, this is no zen spa experience. Don't come in here for dim lights and gentle atmospheric piano. I at one point compared it to childbirth (in a learning to be present with discomfort way, not in a dear god there's a human exiting me way). It was intense. But immediately afterward, I sat up and scratched my back. Big whoop, you think? Indeed. I hadn't been able to do so without pain in at least six months. This was an investment, but Andreea got the job done in a single session. I even asked if I needed to come back, and she was completely transparent that she didn't think I needed to, but of course was welcome back if anything came up in the future -- zero upselling pressure.
