I needed some prop work, a weld done, tuning and major rigging work done. With no fuss or hassles they bounced right on it. They gave me a quote for the work and (no surprises) met their price and they did the work rather quickly. I keep my boat in La Conner, but when I have serious work to do, I will go up to Vancouver's Creek Marina & Boatyard. It's well worth the trip. Good people are found there.

I gave James a call Saturday afternoon and he suggested since the shop was closed for the weekend that I could bring to his personal residence and he would have his boys pick it up on Monday and take to the shop. I was concerned about how much possible internal damage there may be but with a keen eye and a quick tap with his plastic hammer he informed me that it was all cosmetic and said he could have it back to me in a weeks time, and it would look good as new. During the process James sent numerous pictures showing the progress and I was amazed at the quality of work that James and his Team were able to deliver. Not only did he stand by his pricing but also his delivery time and went over and above on customer service, since we were living in Victoria, BC. I think he relies on working with people who are from out of town, so hopefully this yelp review gets to potential customers. In particular, be very very wary of anyone he recommends for any kind of services. If he says a survey is hard to do or something, be wary of that. Ask around both docks about his reputation. He is not looking out for you but rather just trying to serve his own purposes. That all being said, the price I paid for my boat was OK (overpaid a bit), so that's why this isn't 1 star. But there was so much fudging involved, which I find really bizarre, as I said I was more than happy to pay the full price as long as everyone was completely up front with me. I just wonder what other surprises are in store for me. It's heart breaking to see such a small business in a small town be so awful, it's exactly the kind of person you want to support, but given his number of years in the business I am pretty sure he will retire before he changes his ways. It was so loud and scary nearby cars were staring. I looked and looked and it wasn't anything obvious. It woke up the kids through all the closed windows and I pulled over. It was nearly 7 pm though and nothing was open. I called Welcome Woods and he said come on by. He could hear me coming! He diagnosed by ear, had the tire off, and everything fixed and put back together by the time we walked down the road and back. And he charged us next to nothing!
