I recommend this hotel because the staff is so friendly and so helpful. The bed was okay, a little bumpy, but I ended up having a good night of sleep. My partner and our 4 kids got a room with 3 queen beds and a fold out couch. We didn't use the couch, but the beds were big enough, and the kids enjoyed the setup. We had a tv, a desk with a chair, an armchair, and a refrigerator. The water pressure and hot water were enough for all of us. I would absolutely stay here again for the staff and the overall cleanliness. read more

BLOOD STAINS ON SHEETS!! DIRTY TOWELS!! TOTAL SCAMMERS!! UNSANITARY!! On 10/02 my father made a reservation for $130 a night and quickly noticed blood-like stains on the bedsheets and towels. After a shouting match (the manager raised his voice and got extremely defensive) he said the housekeeper supposedly came to clean and change the sheets, which is a LIE! He then agreed to reimburse but only did $100 of the $130. Honestly this business may close down soon given their dishonest and unsanitary conditions, read the overwhelming reviews that all point to awful conditions and horrible management. This place is a bit run down although it was perfect for just me traveling alone for one night, I'm not sure I could stay here more than one night. Cheap price wise and nice owners and staff. Paid, walked into room that was filth. Found black hairs on the bath towels, door and then in the bed, immediately walked back to office to get money returned and left. Well the room itself would have been decent because it has a mini fridge and a microwave in it and it has three queen sized beds so that my family had enough room to sleep, however two out of three beds have ants in them! My family had to sleep with ants crawling on them! When my husband told the guy at the desk he said he'd come and spray and clean up the pile of dead ones we found and we were told he'd come after he was done with the pool and he NEVER showed up! It's only good if you want to save money. Slats on the air conditioning unit were broken. Dark moldy stuff around tub and tiles, and tub not cleaned well. The grandkids walked around the room barefoot after swimming. When they got on the bed to watch TV I was shocked at how dirty the bottoms of their feet were. Obviously the carpet was filthy. The bed was comfortable and the room is pretty soundproof. I think next time I will spend a few more dollars for more quality. read more

Worst customer service ever. I called from the parking lot of motel 6 because it was listed as cheaper on google and had decent reviews. When we got there, the owner didn't like my friend because he was smoking a cigarette (apparently that is indicative of every type of degenerate and worthy of discrimination). The owner then gave us a higher price than we were told 5 minutes earlier on the phone and I could tell by his voice that this was the same person. When we agreed to pay, he told us we needed to leave a $100 security deposit- which I've never had to do for any place I've ever rented. Basically, the owner didn't want our business and made sure to do whatever possible until we finally gave up and left. I was more than happy to give someone (ANYone) else my 5 star review and business. read more

I asked them to sent them in the mail to me and it is May 23, and still have not received them. I called them and they said they did send them in the mail that week. **This review is based on knowing I was not staying at a 3 diamond place. It's a side of the road motel. That's what I needed*** After a LONG drive from Las Vegas, NV, this was one of the few places we found that had rooms available. The staff was friendly which was nice because the other places I called would answer already saying, "We are sold out." The room was very clean. Had a small fridge & TV. Clean. Very clean. Also, contains all the necessities of a low-cost motel (~$60/night). I can't see finding a better value than this in Grant's Pass. This is a 3 to 4 star motel, but I'm giving it five because another reviewer gave it one and it certainly doesn't deserve that. This said, his review was posted over three years ago so maybe things were different then. This was the only motel with vacancy in the area, so we gave it a shot out of pure necessity. Be warned that if you are traveling with children, the cost will be higher than the "less than $60/night" mentioned in other reviews. I expected this, so NBD, but with tax it was close to $100 for the night. The property was worn, but obviously the owners take great effort to see that it is kept very clean. It had the look of being scrubbed constantly. The carpet in our room was an exception however. There were large stains and it had a very musty odor. The rooms are heated and cooled by wall units and it took several hours to cool our small room to a comfortable temperature (this didn't do the carpet smell any favors either). None of the outlets in the sink area worked. Water was hot enough, but not enough pressure for a good shower. On the upside, we had a mini fridge and a new TV (and a roof and four walls). The other guests were a lot like us: freeway travelers and a bit nervous about the place. No bad vibes from any of them. Staff was friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was just that - coffee, orange juice, baked goods and fruit. Wifi was spotty. Basically, it was fine for sleeping, but don't expect it to be much more than that. read more

This is a pretty decent, cheap motel if you're traveling through Grants Pass. It's the sort of place best suited for crashing after a long drive; nothing more. It's clean, has well-lit parking and a pool (tho I would not suggest swimming in a motel pool without being up to date on all your shots). The room was pretty large for the price, the wifi worked, the tv was nice and the bed was comfortable enough. The only annoyances were the very loud a/c unit, a broken shower and their advertised complimentary breakfast was nowhere to be found the morning I checked out. All of that aside, for the price it is ok if you get a room with a working shower and don't need too many frills. read more

My daughters feet were black within minutes of feet hitting the carpet they put 3 sheets on per bed I'm assuming the lazy way to be quick pull off the first sheet good to go! DISGUSTING!!!!! Well, we have six people in our family, myself, my husband and our four kids. Good luck finding one room to accommodate us all right?! Well LOOK NO FURTHER, if you're in Grants Pass or on a long ass road trip like we are... (we have been driving from San Diego non-stop, sleeping in turns- and I mentioned the four kids?) the Sunset inn has a family room with three queen beds and one fold out couch bed! AND their pool is nice too. The younger two kids took a swim. There's nice patio furniture there to chill while the kids swim. Then after the swim, the kids took a bath. The water came rather slowly but eh. I see the other reviews say this place is not clean? Well our room was very clean. The carpet seemed new, and the outside was nice and inviting. I checked the mattress before sleeping, and no sign of bed bugs, I am paranoid about it because we moved into a house that had bedbugs and it was horrible to get rid of. Anyway no sign. So we had a peaceful night sleep and in the morning, all the kids had a bowl of cereal and a bagel. The staff was kind. They kept asking us if we were okay and if we needed anything. I enjoyed my stay. Back on the road again! But first we are going to the Oregon Vortex and the Oregon caves and then to the west coast wild animal safari park, and the hotel was close to all those places. (Amazing) Anyway, we knew that it's not a five star hotel going in, but it was perfect for a clean safe place to crash for the night on a road trip, and the breakfast saved our family another 60.00 so it was well worth the very good price. Worst hotel in grants pass owner or manager is a cheap cheap cheap skate, rooms sheets were dirty with ash from cigarettes, the check our check in times are late and far to earlier and the owner will not allow 1 second pass check out time. If your in the room 15 minutes before check out expect them to call you and hassle you, and even when they see you loading your car they will yell at you in the parking lot to hurry up and leave. The beds are uncomfortable and hard to sleep on, they feel like they are going to collapse. Inside the hotel things are falling apart and the towels appear stained and dirty. Stayed here during a road trip from Cali to Washington, and this turned out to be a good stopping place after checking out the caves, and was cheaper than the other area motels (unless you drive out to Medford). Room was clean, had WiFi. Basically a decent cheap no frills motel. Breakfast is ho-hum bagels/coffee/fruit. read more

We came in late at night when the owners were there. Owners claimed that they didn't understand English (They're Indian) but then when I came in pissed off about the room they spoke perfect English. The pillows were hard and the beds were uncomfortable and uneven. Found dirt in the sheets, the floor didn't look to clean either. There was a microwave but no fridge, no shampoo or hair dryer, no vent/fan in the bathroom so we had to open the window and there wasn't a screen. There weren't enough towels or pillows. The internet didn't work, I had to go complain about it for them to make it work. All in all, this place was terrible. I didn't sleep, I wasn't comfortable, I hated it. Nice little owner operated Inn. We pulled in after midnight on a Friday/Saturday with reservations. We were so tired from an 8 hour car ride but when we went to check in the bank had put a hold on the card since it was being used out of state!! Luckily the very sweet owners let us check in anyways. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The family room has 3 double beds plus a pull out- perfect when traveling with tons of kids. They even let our dog stay for a nominal fee. In the morning I called to clear the hold on the bank and went to the office to find a nice continental breakfast. This is a perfect inn for large families traveling through. read more

When we arrived at this place it was 1130pm. When we came in to the room it was spacious enough for a family room. We start to set up the sofa bed for the kids. When we start to fix the sheets we noticed there was a blood stained on the sheets! So disgusting! So we just cover it up and put the kids' sleeping bag over it. Then we had our shoes off and set our things down. When we were ready to lay down, that's when I noticed my husband's feet were black! I asked him why it was that way and he said maybe from his shoes...I gave him a weird look and didn't question him further. Later on my son's feet and my inlaws feet were filthy dirty! So we realized that their carpet are disgustingly dirty! Who knows when their carpet was vacuum or shampoo! Next morning when we were getting ready to check out we showered and the shower didn't work! So I had to use a cup to get clean up in the bath. When my husband went and told them about the shower, they said they know about it and there is a work order already put in for it. When my husband told me that I was so furious! They knew it didn't work and they still follow through when we checked in and didn't even mentioned to us about the shower or even offer to us another room with a working shower! So unbelievable! Also there was a hole in the bathroom wall! I don't even want to know what happened there! Hey if you need a place to stay for the night and you don't need to shower or you can wear your sandals or shoes all the time then this place is for you. I roll through Grants Pass probably half a dozen times a year at least, and this is the best cheap hotel deal I found anywhere in the area so far! I based my selection on the yelp reviews. Have to laugh at the person whose main complaint was a lack of Shampoo. I got little packets of shampoo here, just nothing fancy plus my room has a microwave and refrigerator, which is great considering that a lot of places in the price range don't have either. Very clean and the person at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. Overall, the furnishings are reasonably nice, given that it's a basic hotel that doesn't boast any frills. One of the things I really liked was that the art on the walls is actually better than average for hotel art! Both of the paintings in the room I was given are actually prints I would hang in my own home. That is a first! So kudos on taste and kudos on a great deal! I have to say that I've also stayed at GP's most expensive resort and, other than the secluded grounds and posh lobby, it wasn't that much more comfortable than Sunset Inn. This has to be the most abhorable place to stay directly due to the owners/management. They initially seemed "cordial" at best but quickly turned very difficult and disturbing. Just 2 examples Day#1 The shower never worked correctly, the shower head was broken and the water wouldn't maintain a consistant stream, the water would actually just go off for a minute or so then come back on but ice cold. When I advised the manager if this problem he stomped in turned the shower on for 5 seconds and walked out stating that "nothing is wrong" and I "need not complain again!!." Day#2 I walked into my room and the man (manager) came in right behind me yelling that he had just cleaned the floors the prior day and I had tracked dirt in now!!, He ordered me to clean my floors!! I honestly think that they are mentally disturbed (or something) They are hateful, angry people. I had paid in advance for 7 days but left after 3 or 4 not even asking for my deposit or money returned for the unused days because I knew how difficult they would be. It just wasn't worth it. The exterior is plain, but the rooms are very large and clean. The desk clerk was very nice about restarting the wifi router around 10 PM when it was too confused to allow new connections. We needed a place to stay on the way from Los Angeles to Seattle. Made a reservation through Expedia. For a more budget motel, it wasn't bad. The front desk clerk was helpful and efficient and asked if we wanted smoking or non-smoking. We said non-smoking, as far away from the smoking rooms as possible. We got room 107 which was fine. For an older property it looks like the owners are trying to make the rooms nice. The room was clean and had all of the amenities one would expect, including coffee maker, microwave, and flat screen TV. Wi-Fi was included and there was no problem using it. Bathroom was clean for the most part. For the price it was a half step up from Motel 6. Here are some suggestions: Front desk really needs a computer check in system. Although we booked through Expedia, the clerk had to go into another room to find the reservation, then used his phone to look it up. Things are done in a notebook. Most places today don't cater to smokers because of the inherent problems with cigarette smoke. If you're going to have a place for people to smoke, don't put it right next to your rooms. The air conditioner was louder that it should have been, and the vents were partially broken off. The grout in the shower surround needed some attention. And while every place describes a "continental" breakfast, this could be much improved. Coffee and juice were available, but no milk. English muffins and pre-packaged Danish pastries are all you get. There's also no place to sit down to eat...you take it back to your room. The grounds were well maintained and clean as was the pool. Bed wasn't bad but personally I prefer something a bit more firm. The light shades had been re-done but looked a little shabby as the decorations were coming unglued. Being a non-refundable reservation is NOT a good thing! Lastly, it would be nice to provide a little nicer soap and shampoo, and don't hook up the microwave to a light switch! read more
