do not purchase from this store. this is a warning! the owner is dishonest. the owner uses the cash register usually. i purchased a product from him awhile back. and it was him. i didn't save the receipt. i expected to use this toilet cleaner in the future. it had a colored price sticker of $14.99. i saw their sign that they don't accept items returned without a cash register. i was ok with that. i was returning this product because in reading the instructions realized that this product gives off a oder that could affect someone with a serve respiratory issue. i was afraid to use it and a afraid to throw it away. product was not opened. all i wanted was for him to take it and do whatever he wanted too. his answer to me was we don't put price sticker on our items. that is not our product. we don't sell that product. but he did say that product was safe to use if you followed the instructions. do you really want to give any of your hard earned money to this poor excuse for a human being? should you have a problem with him at anytime similar to my issue know what to expect. i'm told there is a better and friendlier hardware store on 3 ave. there's where i'm going in the future. read more

This hardware store has the largest selection of any similar store in the Ft Hamilton/ Bay Ridge area. Amazing variety, stocked to the ceiling. The store has a slightly larger footprint than any of its competitors and definitely uses the added space to advantage. Bright, clean interior and wide aisles. One downside: the store keeps bizarre hours! Only open til 6pm on weekdays. This makes no sense to me: between 5pm and 7pm residents are all streaming home from work, and looking to make purchases on their way home. Most businesses stay open til 7 to reap all that profit from foot-traffic. Not this store! Even worse, the store is not open at all on weekends. Absolutely insane! This is why for years I never even saw the inside of this emporium. Once I did, the selection and choices in all product lines blew me away. The prices however, are hit-or-miss. Some things are reasonable and some are absurdly marked-up. But sometimes you are simply in dire need of a particular tool or product and this is the logical place to get it--price or not. While I have always found the employees to be friendly and helpful (with one notable exception, which I will get to in a moment) this store is a cluttered, disorganized mess. The layout is awkward, and today it was particularly bad. I was out and about in my neighborhood running multiple errands, and so I had my wire grocery basket (some call it a granny cart) with me. I stopped into this store on a whim, as I realized I could likely mark several things off my list with one stop. The store was particularly cluttered, with overstock piled up in the aisles such that I couldn't pass some areas with my cart. The staff were helpful in assisting me as I tried to maneuver through the aisles. However, the wheel got caught on a stool on which a large carton with miscellaneous hardware was precariously stacked. The box overturned and fell to the floor, knocking my arm and sending my items flying amidst the spilled box of goods. The noise was ear piercing. I set about cleaning the mess, when I realized that the owner of the store (a grumpy man who always sits at his desk in the middle of the store with an air of general discontent), rather than asking if I was ok or need help was literally yelling at me from 30 feet away. "You should not have come into the store with your cart!" I said that I knew that now but that if the place wasn't so cluttered, there would have been no problem. He continued to berate me until I abandoned my intended purchases, left the mess and walked out. I told him that I would never return to this store, to which he scoffed, "That's ok, I don't need you." Again, most of the staff there are great. But the store owner was rude, and inappropriate in his response to what was clearly an accident-- one that should never have happened but for the cluttered and impassable aisles. As I mentioned before, I have noticed him there every time I have been in previously, and he always seems as though he just found a half-a-worm in his apple. I was in this hardware store yesterday I went to get new door handles for my microwave cart when I walked in I saw people who work they're wearing masks and one man with no mask or gloves on and he asked me can I help you and I said yes but before you help me can you please tell me why you're not wearing a mask or gloves and he said I am immune to the Coronavirus I said you just lost a customer and started to leave and he said fine as I got to the door it really upset me because I have two friends who died from the coronavirus many more who was sick and some that are still sick I went back and I said to him you know I have two people who died from the coronavirus and he answered oh yeah I have five to which I said this is not a competition I said I should call the cops on you and he said I don't care what are they going to do we as consumers have a right to be in stores that are safe if we do what is required for us and others they should do what is required by law I'm so disappointed in this store and will never go back in there and I hope others who read this also won't go back in there thank you for this time stay healthy the only reason I'm giving this creep one star is because you can't give him below that. read more

I went there yesterday evening and the two men behind the counter were not wearing face masks. The man at the cash register had his mask as a chinstrap. It's interesting because they have signs throughout the store that masks are necessary but I guess they can't follow their own rules. I won't be returning since keeping their customers safe isn't a priority to them. read more

I been coming here for little odds and ends I needed to fix in my apartment for the past 14 years. They are very helpful and always have what I need. Today I had an emergency where I needed a particular nail for my toilet paper holder, I couldn't find it anywhere and they didn't have it in the store. The workers where beyond helpful, they went out of their way to cut the nail to the size I needed so that I could fix my holder! Where do you get service like that anywhere! This is a run-of-the-mill hardware store. I found one employee particularly helpful as he approached me to see if I needed assistance. The gentleman at the counter was also very friendly. For a small store, there is a decent variety of goods, including power tools, paint, home-repair items, etc. the layout is nice- open and clean. Went here on Thursday December 18 2014 and Inquired about paint at the register and was told I would have to wait. Me and another customer were the only ones in the store. The other customer was at the register complaining about being short changed and wanted to make sure his credit card was deducted correctly. I noticed three gentlemen behind the front register area, one in front of a computer monitor, another helping the short change gentlemen, and another watching the register person take care of the short changed customer. I also noticed an Hispanic sale person standing no more than five feet away from the register doing nothing so I asked him for assistance, but he told me he could do nothing unless he was given permission to do so from the gentlemen at the register. I ordered a bbq through the ACE website to take advantage of an online sale. I called to see if it was available for pickup and spoke to Elias, who was helpful and friendly. I picked up the bbq the same day and the employees brought it to my car and did all the heavy lifting. It was a massive box. I browsed the store while I waited and I'm not sure why there are negative reviews about this place. They have everything you need, there are plenty of workers that are eager to help you, and they know their industry well. As a Bay Ridge resident I'll definitely be going back. read more

All of the hardware stores in the neighborhood (Bay Ridge) have, pretty much, the same prices. I keep coming back to this place because they provide excellent customer service. If I were dying to complain about something it would be that they are closed on Saturday but it's no big deal since there are another six days to walk in. They are across the road from the Stop 20 Diner. Funny I haven't noticed them before. I decided to try them being sick of Home Depot. My understanding is that they've been in the neighborhood for great many years. This is an great old fashioned hardware store. The customer service is great. Even if you don't know the tool you need, if you can describe what you want to do they'll give you choices of what tools will do the job. And they always seem to come up with the parts I need even when I do a terrible job of describing what I need. They'll ask you the right questions and get the parts you are looking for. I find their prices reasonable and competitive. They have good periodic sales. read more

Very overpriced and only have bare necessities for a hardware store. They will not honor any ACE offers or sales, since are privately owned. They hold what people would consider "odd hours" so you have to check the Jewish holidays beforehand. The staff is for the most part helpful, considering the limitations of most stuff they don't have in the store. read more
