I would like say that Brenda Parada went above and beyond to give our family comfort . Her professionalism and caring is outstanding.

Unprofessional and Disheartening! Hillcrest has completely lost its touch and compassion for…read moregrieving families. The only concern seems to be money. Our mother was cremated without any consent or confirmation from the family regarding whether we would be present. Hillcrest (Sophia) unilaterally made this decision, depriving us of the opportunity for a final viewing. When this was addressed with staff, they shifted blame onto family members, causing even more pain during an already devastating time, rather than taking accountability. They assumed it was the right decision, which was unacceptable and deeply hurtful. Be aware, their staff shows lack of competence. The staff showed poor judgment and did not take the initiative to clarify. Staff was Dismissive and untrustworthy, as we were blatantly lied to. The Person handling our mothers arrangements, Sophia was on The phone with the crematory and she told us that it could be postponed till tomorrow an hour later we received a call stating the process was completed, which made no sense. We went to the crematory and they told us when she called the first time they had already told her the process had started why she lied to us, especially in our face is unknown . Horrible experience for a grieving family. No family should have to endure this. Use a different funeral home, let competent people handle the care of your loved ones. If you happen to use Hillcrest good luck if it's Sophia, lack of better word STUPID. If I could give no stars I would. THANK YOU Hillcrest, Instead of providing comfort, you have created a profound void for our family.i

Another family passed away and unfortunately, used Hillcrest and we had the misfortune of having external family drama in which Hector ESCALATED the issue! We provided jewelry and a rosary which was not put on! They put HEAVY eyeliner on her, we provided over 100 pictures of her....she NEVER wore eye make up! It was terrible, they do not even deserve the 1 star. I spoke with Jon - a manager, who just blew me off.

In reference to 3938 Montana. Terry Durón the funeral home director …read more Only interested in your money and adding on bells and whistles. When a service is paid for in advance they disregard and only seek additional funds. My grandmothers insurance covered more than the services cost and they stated they keep those funds to "keep them afloat". If this was a non profit type of business i would understand but you're overpricing every single thing you offer. My grandmothers services were all covered at the restlawn and they still wanted to tack on an additional service at their location. She took care of all of her affairs prior to her departure to avoid any problems or delays and since they're not making any money from pre paid services they have no interest. DO NOT purchase anything additional from them. Flowers, urns, obituary (which they upcharged over 400%). It's $40 at the local paper. Give your business to a local florist instead . No type of sensitivity to the families of loved ones and total disregard for humanity and only a business transaction for them . This applies ESPECIALLY to Terri Duron. At the end of it all when we went to pick up the death certificates she still found a way to squeeze in an extra charge for a priest we didn't even use (my grandpa paid out of pocket for one), leaving us with a balance owed. If I wasn't there to catch it they would have charged my grandfather . I wonder how many other families they do this too on a daily basis all to make their commission . Terry when you are told we don't want flowers , that doesn't mean you ask every family member you encounter about ordering flowers from you . NO means NO. You should work in the car sales industry not a funeral home where atleast some human decency and empathy is required . Also make sure to take a translator if your family member only speaks Spanish as they struggle to properly relay important information that they do not know how to say in Spanish (Terry). This entire thing is a horrible joke . Don't put your families through this take your business elsewhere. And if you use them , DOCUMENT everything and check your bill at the end because they take advantage of mourning families . Shame on all of you .

I would not recommend this funeral home at all! The first mistake started when we went to liquidate…read morethe funeral expenses then the director tells us that they made a mistake. We had requested police escort they added it to the contract. When he comes back with the card he tells us that the secretary did not add up the math correctly. So they had to charge a second time for the police escort. Then the day of the rosary I look at my loved ones signature book and his last name, age and the date he passed away were wrong. I go and address it with them and the secretary tells me that they would get it fixed, because they order those from a different company. An hour later I go back to see the book and I see they tried to make corrections, and they still had it wrong. His age was still wrong and December were misspelled. So I go and address for the second time! And not to mention the fact that they lied and tried blaming someone else for the mistake on the book. So they had to fix it twice. Then the day of the rosary my loved one did not have on his tie, so I asked them if they were unable to put it on and the lady tells me that they did not give her a tie and she knew because she was the one who dressed them. I told her that he did have a tie because I'm the one who chose his clothes and personally took it to them, which happened to be his favorite Express skinny tie. They told they were going to try to look for it. The next day we go back for the funeral, they gave us 1 extra hr with his casket open and he did have a tie, but it was not his! I went to the secretary and I expressed how upset I was and why would they not admit their mistakes and just try to cover up for them. And not to mention how bad his makeup up was! Would not recommend at all!

From one professional to another, I would gloss over the Yellow Pages and go to another funeral…read moreprovider in this area. We were working on having an individual cremated in El Paso so his cremated remains could be returned to the Silverton, Oregon area, and La Paz was lacking in professionalism. Perhaps they are overly busy. Perhaps they just don't care. We had called on this funeral home to assist a family of ours and they complicated the process beyond what was necessary. It took 18 days to have the cremation actually take place in addition to different staff on their end telling us different dates as to when the cremation would actually take place. To add insult to injury, we told the family here in Oregon cremation was to occur on the 14th after expressly told by La Paz. When I phoned to ask when the cremated remains would be sent via Express Priority USPS they then informed me that cremation was still not completed (being now the 18th) and I shared my concern that we had a funeral and burial to occur on the 30th - an exact month after the death of the individual in their care. The family panicked and felt some relief other family were going to be in El Paso over the weekend of the 22nd and could pick up the remains. La Paz had me on hold during 1 phone call for over 11 minutes. Thank goodness I was one funeral director calling another and not an actual urgent matter. We then came to realize that La Paz does not even do the cremation in their location, but rather have the deceased transported to Las Cruces, NM, for the cremation to actually occur. When called back to request Victor include a letter of certification of cremation, he asked if he could just "mail them tomorrow" after I had discussed family would be picking-up. In the end they took payment and did not deduct the amount of forwarding remains by USPS and overcharged our funeral home. A headache all around. Thank goodness this man will be coming back to Oregon, but had I not called consistently, I feel he would have been sitting somewhere for much, much longer and the funeral services may have needed to be postponed on this end.

The funeral home had No professional skills as to our needs especially during our time of sorrow. We paid extra for flowers that arrived late and were not the ones we paid for. We prepaid for cards with a picture of our father and the cards did not arrive till the next day. Then we had to chose a perches funeral home at another location far away in Socorro Tx from the East perches on Joe Battle with (Linda Azani) due to the reason we would have to wait two weeks to put our loved one to rest. This funeral did not even have a small table to put our lap top for the video we made for our beloved Apa. The funeral home Perches East has not taken the plaque that goes in the ground to the cemetery up to this date when my father that passed away 1/22/25. The cemetery only left the flowers for two days Because they said it was the funeral homes responsibility because of the plaque. We were very sad that this happened, our family does not recommend these funeral homes if you want professionalism And compassion use someone else.
